Sleeping Dogs |OT| not releasing this would have been a True Crime

Sweet next week. That video and all the text they posted on the page seems pretty spoilerish so I'll skip all that, but from the things I glanced over it looks fun.

Will we have access to all of our upgrades in Year of the snake? Since it takes place after the story it would make sense.

No - YoTS is a standalone side story add-on accessed from the game’s main title screen (similar to Nightmare in North Point).

Itchy for Year of the Snake. Got FRAPS and everything ready to crank out my video review. Haven't done a solo one since Nightmare at Northpoint.

Did you play Wheels of Fury? That's been my fave pack released so far, I reckon (not including YoTS, obviously).

I haven't yet. I was going to grab it alongside Year of the Snake and play it afterwards.

Finished the DLC. Quite good and a lot longer than nightmare in north point. Took me roughly 3 hours to complete while getting all the collectibles. Some interesting missions and great new weapons like the nightstick and the tear gas grenade launcher.

Buy this guys if you enjoy Sleeping Dogs. DLC support for this game has been really good imo and all of the stuff is fairly priced.

I have all the DLC but the stat boosts and high roller cause everything in high roller I already had from in-game.

I randomly borrowed this game from my older brother the other day (coincidently the same day steam was having a sale for it), enjoyed it enough that I bought it on console that day.
I'm about 10-15 hours in and I love it. I don't think I've come across a bad moment or a time when I wasn't having fun.

The driving is so much fun, just the ease in which you can speed in and out of traffic. It's such a blast and thankfully so given you'll be doing so much of it during the course of playing.
One of the cars you get to drive around in was so amazing that I can't wait to buy it if given the chance. (First time meeting Uncle Po)
Combat is pretty good though I'm constantly getting caught not being able to counter because I'll be in the middle of beating someone up but I'm getting better at predicting when I'll need to counter.

I like the characters and the story is interesting and I always have a smile plastered on my face whenever I see there's something new to explore or work toward. It's got a pretty good sense of humor as well. Reminds me of the GTA games but in a more subtle way.

Seriously I'm really surprised I like it as much as I do because I wrote the game off when I first played it (I think it was a demo?) but wanted to replay it given all the praise.

I'm starting to believe this rivals my love for San Andreas.

For anybody on the fence, I reviewed Year of the Snake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9NmNe0f8MM

Long and short of it: strongest vision and best pacing of the DLC, also the most content. If you only get one DLC, Year of the Snake should probably be it.

I've been playing this for the last week or so with some other games. I saw that there are many DLCs for the it. Which are to best? Most fun? Any review or breakdown of all DLCs?

Year Of The Snake kinda disappointed me, felt really repetitive. Expected more story I guess. And the annoying bomb car 20 times didn't help.

Cheers!

Wei Shen's batmobile is pretty cool.

The ones that add abilities/ weapons are fun such as Monkey Kong, Tactical, Drunken Master. Normally all you get is a pistol, but with the dlc you can have an assault rifle in your apartments. Wait for a sale and just get any that look interesting, because they'll only be $1 each.

As for the bigger dlc, I've only played Nightmare at North Point and Zodiac Tournament. Nightmare is kind of repetitive. Just a bunch of fairly easy fighting and some driving around. Zodiac Tournament is really short (about an hour), the fights are fairly interesting, and the cutscenes and music and martial arts movie homages make it pretty worthwhile.

None of the stuff is really must-buy though. If you're still looking for more to do, just wait for a sale and grab a bunch of stuff, because Sleeping Dogs goes on sale practically once every 2 weeks.

Just wanted to pop in and say this game is fucking fantastic.
I generally am not that much into open-world-city games ( just cause, GTA, etc ), but this game just pulls me in. The setting is AMAZING and it just feels so refined overall.
Smashing a dude's head against a wall never gets old!

Quick question: A friend told me that later I will get another apartment ( i'm still on the first one). Do the things that I buy for the first one get transferred to the next?

Cheers and a big high five to United Front Games and Square Enix for this awesome game.

There are different things to buy for each apartment. If you mean the decorative stuff, clothes and cars gets transferred.

Finished the Year of the snake today, it was okay. I still think Zodiac Tournament was the best pack, even if it was the shortest.

I finished it 2 days ago myself. I feel like I was ripped off/misled. I agree with you that it was okay but it didn't really expand Wei's story as much as I thought it was. While I didn't check out The Zodiac Tournament (I saw the GiantBomb quick look run though; it was pretty cool), I enjoyed Nightmare in North Point a lot more probably because it was cheesy. I mean the ending of the DLC was
anti-climatic which disappointed me.

I'm still missing one Event and I don't know which one it is. It's been driving me nuts to trying to find that last event. I wish there was a check list of all the side stuff you did like with the missions.

An event in the main game? I checked a youtube video that showed all locations, that helped me out.

I suggest you check out the various Quick Look videos on Giant Bomb where Vinny covers all of SD's story DLC.

Thanks guys. Also based on your advice im going to get Zodiac Tournament.

Regarding Jade Statues

So I didn't get 90% or above on the karaoke to unlock the Jade Statue locations appearing on the map. Is there another way of getting them to appear?

I replayed Club Bam Bam but you can only replay the mission, not the stuff where you meet Tiffany afterwards.

Hard to find otherwise. :(

You can just go back and sing karaoke whenever you want and do all the songs over and over.

huh?

You just have to go on a date with Tiffany (i.e call her once you get her phone number from the Bam Bam mission) and once thats done they should now appear on your map via pressing the Q key.

while i always gotten a high percent i don't think it really matters and if it did you might have to do it again before you can "complete" the date (may have failed the mission and you have to do it again)

You could just
check out this guide on the SD wiki for their locations.

Not sure if any of you guys watch VintageBeef's Let's Play, but just saw these gifs on reddit. If you haven't checked out his videos I highly recommend it, even the Sleeping Dogs twitter has been linking to them!
