Normal and Electric I guess, but I have favorites across other types. I'd also say poison, since status problems make people rage.

Water-type by a league and some. When I was younger, water types always looked the coolest, so I would have them in my party. Never had any trouble with gyms or the elite four, even when facing electric or grass types. Water (besides dragon, maybe) has to be the most versatile type.
My Kyogre in Ruby (I traded Groudon with a friend) version is a good example. He knew earthquake, thunder, ice beam, and water spout. This gave him a way to effectively defeat almost any type he came across (plus, he has what was, at least back then, the strongest water move made even stronger by his power "drizzle" and the strongest electric move made more accurate by that same ability.) In double battles, he was an absolute monstrosity. Dragon or grass? Ice Beam. Fire, rock? Water spout. Flying, water? Thunder. Oh, you flew in the sky? Thunder. Oh, you dug under ground? Earthquake. Oh, you're a ghost type? Water spout will still probably ohko you.
Love my Kyogre.

Unless something has changed, isn't Kyogre the strongest Poke? Dat Water Spout. Never messed with ubers much, except to destroy people on Battle Revolution online. Hahah.
Shiiiit? How could I forget Aggron? My bro loved Aggron and that was BEFORE Head Smash.
The fact that his cry sounds like a train also helps. Just have to keep him away from fighting moves and special based moves.

Hmmm.... one of my fave Pokemon is Houndoom. So I like the Dark type best since many of them seem quite menacing and I love stuff like that.
Lapras is one of my favorite Ice types, high five. Too bad Ice is garbage typing, too many weaknesses.

Ghost and Dark is pretty much the best typing. They can't be weak against fighting because ghost types are immune to fighting moves. Plus the added immunity to Psychic and normal, and no weaknesses against any other type and you have yourself a winner.

Before the special split, Gyrados was an absolute monster in-game.

I only just noticed that 100 Base Special stat, pretty nifty. Shame it didn't get to capitalise on that Attack stat till Gen 4 with the Physical/Special split, now Gyarados is better than ever before.
