New Sonic rumor from the same guy that was right about Sonic Generations

Name is derp, no Vita release kinda sucks, but those are pretty much nitpicks. I'd love to get back into the series honestly (closest I've gotten was Ultimate Genesis Collection and Sonic Racing Transformed, haven't gotten any of the other current gen games yet even though I hear generations was great) so if this is real and Sega pulls it off right, I'm fully on board.

Name sounds like a codename that relates the title to the Adventure series. I'm sure it won't be called Excursion. Most kids probably can't even read that word, or even know what it means.

However, this. sounds. AWESOME. I am really excited to see it. I hope the "pixar humans" look like the ones in Unleashed. They were perfect. It also sounds like the scale of the game has really increased. Jumping and running through apartments sounds amazing.

Emblems sound fun, and playing through the same levels with different characters sounds great. I can't wait to play as Tails/Knuckles again in levels that aren't designed to completely slow the gameplay down, or have a completely different goal (treasure hunting).

Probably no Vita version since this game is being developed for next-gen consoles. Vita is powerful enough to come close to current-gen visuals, but not enough to meet down-scaled next-gen, and it's too powerful or not worth the time in upscaling and polishing from the 3DS version (also those abysmal sales). Wii U version will most likely be 720p (I know Wii U has abysmal sales, too, but it's just getting started, 2014/2015 will be a turn around point), while PS4 and XBOX Infinite versions will be 1080p. 3DS version will be developed entirely differentl, but with the same title as the console counterparts, like Sonic Generations.

So yeah, this rumor is 1000% bogus, apparently the post names and whatnot (even the Gens screencap) were edited:

There was a thread on /v/, shortly after the original thread that started all of this, that explained exactly how the entire rumor is fake (created by /v/ tripuser Ben Spurr), and someone edited the HTML (instead of Photoshop, makes it look more legit) on one of Ben Spurr/Wentos/Wintos' posts. They changed the message to closely describe Sonic Generations, screencapped that, and posted it to make it look like it came from 2011 (even with an earlier post number) a few months before the Generations announcement. Now all the news blogs are citing that as the reason why this leak could be legit, since it's coming from the guy that was right about Sonic Generations, after all.

To clarify about the tripcode: You can have whatever name you want in the name field, but the tripcode is more like the actual username. The tripcode matches with Ben Spurr's, so it was Ben Spurr, NOT the original Wentos at all. Which is also why Wintos/Wentos doesn't matter.

I hope whatever is next is as good as Colours. The steps backwards with Gens were really frustrating, and it's worrisome that it'll prolly be treated as status quo so we lose stuff like wall bouncing and actual fun under-water controls.

In fact, it's frustrating overall that Sega can't see a good thing when it happens to them. Rush is the same way. Now we've this plodding, crippled, quasi Rush in Sonic 4, which is neither a proper STH3 sequel nor something that capitalises on what made Rush work on its own merits. Audible sigh.

I'm pretty sure the original Wentos "leaked" information that was completely bogus in the first place. It was after Unleashed he first appeared and he went on about how the new game had additional characters that were completely optional.

So yeah, whenever this Wentos guy appears it's just a bunch of bullshit.

Yeah, I deliberately ignored Episode 2. At least there was Sonic CD a bit after Generations, which many of us played for the first time in the re-release.

Yeah, I mean we haven't had one since last year, why aren't they milking the franchise more??????!!!!!!

Big retail Sonic games usually get announced around April/May, so an actual reveal shouldn't be too far off. Else it'll just be revealed at E3.

Somehow I doubt Vita will get a proper Sonic, isn't Vita doing even worse than PSP in NA relative to it's lifespan and PSP only got 2 games Sonic Rivals 1 & 2 by Backbone.

Pretty sure it's likely that each DS Sonics did better than both Rivals combined, I would not be surprised if that's actually true.

And I think it's ridiculous for a Sonic game to be on 6 platforms sans counting handhelds, that has never happened in the history of the franchise, they could've made Shadow a 360 launch title but didn't, 4 is usually the max (like PS360, Wii and PS2), I just think that's spreading way too thin, plus Wii U will outsell most if not all versions as ASRT showed, what a waste of resources in my opinion. Wii U and 3DS with its own will do huge amounts. And it'll come out when Nintendo starts putting out the big games so the userbase will be much bigger by November and over the holidays.

As mentioned on the same page as the quoted image, people like to use the image for anything that isn't Shadow, 06, or Black Knight/both Storybook games (which it is actually reserved for) despite Colours, Unleashed Day, and Generations having a good streak and being different from what the text in the image states.

Ugh...Damnit, it was just the kind of rumor that didn't sound completely ridiculous, but enough stuff to make me really excited to buy it, also because SEGA will probably announce the real game sometime this month, if not then E3, and they can very rarely keep a lid on anything Sonic related. I think Colors' unveiling is pretty much the only thing that ever got past us.
