It's for sending out invites for people who don't have Hangouts.
Doesn't work for me. Taps into my phone contacts, but when I try to send them a message it tells me they're not using Hangouts and if I want to tell them about it in an SMS. So it's probably that they mean.
Anyone know? I'm in the exact same boat.
This is why I confirmed my Google Voice #, instead of my mobile #.

I didn't realize that I had the shared app download thing turned on so even though I STILL can't find it by searching, it downloaded automatically to my phone once I downloaded it on my computer. It just went to my second screen so I didn't see it right away. Thanks though!
No problem. Seems like Google hasn't updated their search index yet, but the app is on there.

The app asks for permissions to send and receive, but there doesn't appear to be a bridge for SMS to be a part of the conversation at this point. They need to fix that in order to compete with iMessage. Its not like they don't already have the bridge - there is one with voice.google.com.

Liking the Hangout app on Android, anyone else finding the Chrome app... a bit shit?
I wish it had more features, but it is a lot better than the older Talk implementation.
Though that isn't saying much.
I think the updates are rolling still. On a phone an updated G+ and the Hangouts apps will likely remove the G+ Messenger app and replace Talk. So we will have + for the social stuff and Hangouts for the messaging part.

It just looks like the Gmail chat boxes. I'm not sure what's going on. I don't have the option to update my Gmail chat to Hangouts yet either. Plus, my phone didn't replace the Gtalk icon.
Messenger is still there on my phone, even after installing Hangouts.

Aaah. Update on my hate on the Chrome app for Hangouts: I had chat window minimised, got a message, it popped to the top of my windows and notified me? Aaah go away notify me nicely, don't do that AND move my Windows around.

Updated Google Music and signed up for their streaming service (I have Spotify Premium) Like the new UI, clean and easy to use.
The big plus for me is playlists. I can organize it on my device. Spotify is lacking in this department. There are some quirks they can work out, but overall I like their new service.

I signed up for the free trial tool.
Just need that Bluetooth stack to be update on 4.3, hopefully with this update I can actually see the music data through my car's dashboard display (cover art, etc).
