You're welcome. I wasn't aware there was anything wrong with sharing opinions respectfully.
It's winterfang.
(tbh you should give Colors a chance)

Ive hated every Sonic game since (and including) Sonic Adventure, with the sole exception of the Neo Geo Pocket Colour version. I didnt bother with Colours though I hear that is meant to be good, but after Sonic Adventure 2, Heroes and Sonic 4, I've given up on the series.
Maybe if it was like Sonic 2/3/K it might be worth a look at a demo.
You didn't like Rush?

Rush had poor level design IMHO. Gameplay was neat though.
Did you try the Sonic Advance series? I played some lately (the first and the third, it's been years since I popped those cartridges.) and I liked it.
I know I should give Colours a go. I'm inclined to next time I'm in the mood for giving the series another shot.
I also didn't know winterfang had a reputation, thanks for the heads up.
Not really no. It had a lot of blind jumps to death and the bosses/perspective shifts really fucked with my timing. Couldn't get into it after a couple of hours.

colors has the best start to any sonic game in recent years. i won't spoil it for you since it's a nice, simple thing.
one thing that really works in its favor is that the game lets you move about at your own pace. the first time through is mainly to acquaint you with the level. as you unlock powers, exploration is heavily encouraged, especially the way they tease you with the level design ('how do i get up there?').
if you keep collecting stuff, you eventually unlock multiplayer levels. so finding shit due to being awesome at platformers means more levels with platforming, and that's awesome.
...Yeah. This was my main qualm with Rush, as well, and why I still don't really care for the whole focus on "Boost" in most modern Sonic games.
Colors, I actually ended up digging, though. So I wouldn't mind at all if we got more like that.

(I would like to see Sonic Colours HD for PSN / XBLA)
I thought the teams were consolidated for Colors and Generations.I'm interested to see which part of Sonic Team is behind this. Previously the Sonic games were by two teams -- the Unleashed / Generations set, and the Secret Rings / Black Night / Colours team.
Of course, there is also the PSO team now, I guess?
Also, it's been a bit odd that we haven't really seen much of Sega's console digital stuff this year. This time last year we had Sonic 4 Episode II and the awesome Vintage Collections released, with the second big set later in September with Nights, SA2, JSR and hell yeah.
This year we've seen The Cave via Double Fine and the upcoming Castle of Illusion, though they've been doing some good iPhone (Sonic 1, Sonic Dash, HOTD) and 3DS (Space Harrier, Hang On, Sonic 1). Hard to gauge who is working on what.

Makes sense, but I'm personally holding out for the Colors team againI want to remind people of the following:
I think this is finally going to have Crush 40 doing the main theme again, consider:
Black Knight was the last in 2009.
Colors in 2010 was by Cash Cash, because...
Gens was the main focus of Crush 40, but bizarrely had no theme song like the others, they focused on stage songs and other remixes.
Two years after, this is the next original Sonic game after Colors (Gens was Rehash: The Game no offense, which as said had no theme song), so what else could Crush 40 and the sound team be doing aside from helping out with Sochi Olympics? Also note they were able to do London Olympics and Gens at the same time, obviously Gens was the main focus.
All this applies to Jun Senoue exactly as well, he was Sound Director for Black Knight, was a no-show for Colors, then was (I think) Sound Director for Gens two years later in 2011.
AGAIN, two years since with no big project in between.
So to me Jun is SD again with Crush 40 for the theme, it's too perfectly aligned with some assistance with music for Sochi Olympics.
Did I forget to mention Winter Olympics was in 2009 as well? XD
Makes sense, but I'm personally holding out for the Colors team again
Unless Junny baby's takin us back to dat SA1 sound, aww yiss
They were for the most part. The distinct "Adventure" and "Storybook" teams pretty much died after Unleashed and Black Knight.I thought the teams were consolidated for Colors and Generations.
I'd take aquarium park any day over cheesy bad wannabe metal.
That's why I said Adventure 1 and not Adventure 2. ;PI'd take aquarium park any day over cheesy bad wannabe metal.

"With 'Sonic Lost World,' we're going to introduce new gameplay and enemies, which is always fun. In terms of Sonic and his friends, he'll have his same friends there, and I think there'll be some new ones as well. It's not a reiteration. It's going to be all new."
I'm not too worried about that. I doubt a PR guy would be like "Well it's pretty much the same thing as our last games"

His new friends are probably Mario and crew.
We'll finally have that Mario X Sonic 3D Adventure Platformer Action game!
Exactly, Sonic sells on Nintendo platforms regardless, so why bother.
Edit:
Well I might be wrong but I see no other explanation for this.
It might, 'might' come out this year.Is this game due for release this summer?
I've already said my bit on this, but thinking about it, the new friends in Colors were pretty sweet optional powerups, so maybe it's not as bad as we think...?

Well that's Japan... but it probably will for the rest of the world too.Game's out in Fall officially, it says so at Nintendo's JP website in their Wii U release schedule.
That's why I said Adventure 1 and not Adventure 2. ;P
Word on the street is that we'll get news in Famitsu this week, claims someone read that on their website.
I hope so, but that's uncharacteristically early for JP Sonic info, the IP does oddly worst in JP so understandably news would be released later than other territories.
Not counting on it since the Famitsu source had only mentioned the game, not that we'd actually get info from them this week. Very rarely does Sonic ever get Japan exclusive news these days.
So any people happy that this is not on the X1?
at this point would anybody care if it was
didnt someone day well earn more on the 29th ?
I forgot if it was from that suppose facebook leak. We'll see I guess.
