Team Ninja has always stated they like to make games on strong hardware, and don't really care about sales.

Obviously there's a limit to what Temco will accept ... but still, Team Ninja is not Capcom.

We're talking about next-gen HD console ****in development. Not some rush job GBA game.

They want to increase penetration of the franchise, why do they want this? Because they want net profit. Ninja Gaiden Black was a complete package, it wasn't perfect (no game is) but it was complete. They are only doing a port because they want to increase penetration so they achieve higher sales on a console that they assumed would tear it up at retail (which unfortunately teh PS3 isn't doing right now). They gambled PS3 would drastically expand NG's audience, and that gamble (so far) seems to be back-firing.

While i think most of you are over exagerating the importance of DMC considering other than the first one, none sold over a million and the franchise has been in a downward spiral in terms of sale. This is still extremely bad new for the PS3. NOt becuase losing DMC as a exclusive makes a big difference but because of the trend the PS3 has been going. Losing exculsives after exclusives.

Losing GTA was freakin huge as was losing the security blanket of DQIX might show up the on the PS3, then little blows like ace combat, assasin creed, DMC, ect. They really need to stop the bleeding ASAP.

I don't even think losing MSG4 will be huge hit since Europe is its best market and GT alone will sell many PS3s in Europe. It'll be major but nothing devestating.

FFXIII though is another story. Losing FFXIII would pretty much guarantee last place for the PS3. One of the few franchise thats a system seller for all 3 major regions. One of the defining game that will alone sell millions of PS3. Lose that and the PS3 is dead. Sony better start buying some huge somberros and start filling them of with money.

Seeing the meltdown like this on GAF for decent sized franchise like DMC makes me wonder what would happen if they annouced FFXIII for the 360. The site would explode.

While I agree with you on this statement (sadly... because I love the DMC series)The 360 crowd has a tendency to migrate to the next best thing, achievement points are good at doing that you know.

Um, please. Achievement points are the icing on the cake, bucko, not the main course. they have never made anyone go out and spend $59.99. certainly not a significant percentage of the system userbase. Besides, I imagine there will be plenty of talk of collecting entitlements/trophies when HOME launches. Achievments and the '360 crowd' (read: community) are part of the reason the console has taken off, IMO, and Sony would do well to try and replicate that.

HAHA dude...I know that was the point I was getting at...i'm not saying achievements are bad...the point I was making is that it would sell strongly on the 36o..i own a 360 man.

Check my post history, I'm an huge Sony supporter, but enough is enough. I had patience, I waited to see the results of a huge price tag, and it simply isn't selling. These are the results of a Sony more focused on winning the HD format war, sticking a BluRay drive in it drove bigger BluRay sales, but they sacrificed their market. Hope they are happy.

Its year lead is basiclly the reason.theres enough of an installed based to help offset costs. DMC 3 sold less then 700K copies in america so its not the epic megaton in that sense more of just sony lost it as an exclusive.

To see a franchise that had so much success and comfort selling near 7 million units as an exclusive sony title, and then for it to all of a sudden pack up and ship microsofts way is definantly telling on just how badly sony is ****ing up. And then we have assasins creed, vf4, ace combat, virtua fighter, and now devil may cry. None of those games sell like GTA, but apparently they sell well enough.

Some people try to pass it off as a 'mob mentality,' when, in truth, it is really no different than hopping onto a game forum to see what everyone else is playing. Though, I guess such a concept might be foreign to some Gaffers, as most of us don't appear to actually play videogames much anymore.

haha, no sorry I guess that did come off wrong. I think it's brilliant and I've stated time and time again that I believe it is a feature all console manufacturers should try to emulate. I know it may be sad but I tend to play games more on my 360 for the simple fact that my point meter goes up. Thats why exclusives are all the more important to me. 360 with it's online and achievement system offers me the best multiplatform experience so the Wii and PS3 better have exclusives or they aren't worth owning for me.
