Same old ass engine with a bunch of fake effects.

People don't buy these games because of their graphical prowess. They love the 60fps responsiveness, and they look good enough for a game running at that speed.

People are kidding themselves when they claim that the COD games didn't get more attractive over the past 5 years. They made significant improvements over the years. I expect the next gen game to look significantly better and still maintain 60fps.

So they didn't create a brand new engine? I think that's fine as the game is cross-gen. That said, I'm worried these fucks are going to be too lazy to do a new engine a year from now or two years down the road.

All that money they make from these games every fucking year and they are still using an ancient engine as the base is astounding. Its an excellent profit model, but so shitty.

"When we’re talking about a new engine we’re talking about upgrading significant systems within in that engine."

Called it. It's a last gen (very last gen) engine. I suppose the next game will be the true next gen CoD

I highly doubt just about anything is left from the quake 3 engine (very much so the rendering engine).

I understand they need to do this to get a CoD out right at launch. But you could instantly tell this is an old engine, "significant upgrades" or not.

MW2, MW3 and Black Ops II look pretty good for console games, especially at 60FPS. However, Ghosts really looks no better than a PC version of BOII, which is pretty much a sharper version of the console versions, and that is fucking terrible. I'm not expecting Killzone SF level graphics. But what I am expecting is a distinct upgrade over the same old engine. These new consoles are powerful enough for that.

We..already..knew. They will probably use that engine another year or two until PS4/Xbone gets enough marketshare to ditch PS3/360 version l.

We had all this yesterday and what difference does it make anyway?, there were UE2 games this gen that looked great and look at that UE3 demo with that cig smoking guy from a while ago, that wouldn't look out of place on next gen.
