I'll pick this up for PC, but I really hope it makes it to Wii U. The gamepad is pretty useful for setting strategies and doing substitutions on FIFA 13 12.5.

I'm hoping this comes to vita as well as ps3/4 I'll double, maybe even triple dip if that's the case.

I don't care which engine it uses. I don't want added animation, I want a completely overhauled animation and player collision system. A new dribble system would also be a welcomed change. PES13 felt really archaic in comparison to FIFA13. In terms of gameplay first and foremost.

I like that it uses the fox engine because that means probably means more Konami games coming to PC.

I'm a little bit skeptical. There are things on that video I expect to see on Ps4. I have doubts that that graphic runs on Ps3, Xbox360 and Xbox One.

Um, I dont know if you know the purpose of engines, but "completely overhauled animation and player collision system" is EXACTLY why they moved to the fox engine, because those are the kinds of things it allows.

People too often link engines to graphics, but no, its all about collision features, aniamtion systems, AI, its literally everything in a game

Exactly. That's why I think it's a "now or never" situation for PES.

Hype!!!! People saying return of the king, he was only absent between 2008-2010. The King has been back and getting better each year.

I can't argue with lower sales, but Fifa's hype is way over the top and a lot of it is linked to more recent marketing effective overindulgences. Right down to it PES is a better game at least on PC. All team license get modded in, Years when a lot of people felt like the speed was to high, we got a slow down patch, years when shots were to weak, keeper too dodgy etc.. always fixed.

Fifa and EA are truely shooting themselves in the foot by not putting their best effort on PC; Mass Effect 2 didn't have controller support because it would "Ruine te PC experianse" I wonder what they would say about Fifa other than I should go and ***** myself :(

It's easy to playback good looking mocap animations in trailer, but making shit look smooth on actual gameplay situation is hard in sports games...

Hopefully PES can be legit option to FIFA once again. FIFA updates have been getting a bit incremental in recent years.

I'd prefer it on Wii U aswell but being that I live in Australia (small market) and the poor Wii U sales, I'd be really worried about getting consistent online matches.

Wish it weren't so.

Still needs to have a lot of new mo-cap done. Players still moved around with movesets that I was already familiar with in the PS2 era.

Yeah, I dont disagree with that, but if theyre using brand new models they basically have to redo all the mocap, you cant really copy paste that stuff.

Very surprised at FOX ENGINE...figured it was like most japanese engines (Capcom's, Crystal Tools, etc.) that it only had Japanese documentation and wasnt really for english use

LICENSES are the BIG problem of PES. People want to play with Roberto Carlos, not Larcos...

PES has the CL license, right? So are the CL teams there with the real players? If yes and there is a WiiU version then I will get it.

I wonder if there will be a Wii U version with the old Wii version's controls intact. That was the best use of pointer control.

EA and FIFA has never captured the gameplay or player individuality PES did during the PS2 days in my opinion.

the player models for PES are superior than FIFA to look at but no where near as good to see in motion, the stiff robotic animations still hinder PES.

FIFA is on top with presentation and online modes but if Konami can match that and make big improvements with Fox Engine, I would certainly go for PES rather than EAs game

PES 2013 was brilliant, I'm really enjoying it, especially since it doesn't have the Shitpact Engine of FIFA, so no stupid fouls or penalties given away just because an opposition player ran into you. Lack of licensess has never bothered me, I just download an option file with full kits, proper team/player names and the NPower Championship and Bundesliga added to the game.

The Champions League, Europa League and European Super Cup licenses more than make up for it. Hearing the Champions League anthem play at Elland Road once again brought tears to my eyes, it made my 7 season journey to get there with Leeds worth it.

It's not as much their fault as EA's who had locked down a lot of licences and supposedly try their best to block the PES team from acquiring any.

Also, while I expect this to change for the worst next gen, you can download saves for the PS3 version each games that includes real names, kits, etc...

It's honestly been a while since I bought a PES (not since... 2009? Been playing the game here and there each year with friends though), but I think that's the case, yeah. You get the names and kits of teams registered for the CL, IIRC.

----

I'm really hyped for this year. It might be the year I come back, if it really goes as well as a lot of people seem to expect. Despite not playing PES a lot anymore, I've been finding the latest entires (especially 2013) much better than the 2007-2010 ones. And I could never get into FIFA.

That's the beauty fo the PC version. You're only a download away from a 'licensed' game. Hell, back on the PS2 games there were tools to get all the kits and names updated the same way. Modified my PS2 using the memory card trick purely for that.

MGSV (another title using Fox Engine) trailers look very bad and everything is flat as hell, so I don't think this will be graphically impressive but I hope the physics and gameplay is improvement over PES this gen.

Living up to your tag, one post at a time.

Do I still have to play as Manchester red?
Without the true team names and players this game will always remain #2 out of 2

Hard to really judge too much from this trailer.

What I will say though is that I really, really hope the new crowd effects and animation are a taster for the full game. Better atmosphere and in stadium effects are my number one wish for next generation football games. Both FIFA and PES are at levels where I'm able to enjoy both (although obviously you always hope for gameplay improvements regardless), but I really want some more time and effort to be put into the "feel" and occasion of each match.

Looking good so far on that front.

I don't understand this, to be honest. The PES modding community is fantastic. The full game will be fully "licensed" and updated within days of release, if not Day Zero. And after a few months there are so many tweaks and custom files around. Especially on PC.

Manchester United is fully licensed.

As for the rest of PL teams, players names/likeness are correct but clubs names/kits are not, but thankfully all can be edited via option file patches on PC/PS360 and work online/offline. Example from PES 2013.

One of the areas PES does a lot better than FIFA is editing options. It's even been said that PES 2014 edit mode will see major improvements.
