Slight note, not a complaint, just a note, MK 8 seems slightly desaturated to me?

Desaturated you say? what about dat bloom?
Maybe it was the footage they used in the trailer.
I just saw a couple of hands on videos from YouTube and though they're off-screen, the game seems to be pretty colorful.

Bikes? Bikes!? Bikes!!!
BikesbikesbikesbikesbikesbikesbikesbikesBIIIIKKKKKKEEEESSSSS!!!!!!
I fucking love bikes. All itd needed for a sale was to be MK7 with bikes. Im gonna love this!

I hope they balance the bikes this time around.
Bikes had an huge advantage over karts using boost wheelies it wasn't even funny to the point everyone were using bikes instead of karts.

I thought they would play safe with Mario Kart and wow us with 3D Mario. Opposite happened.

Really digging this game and I'm not really into Mario Kart... :)

Mario Kart of all things is the only Nintendo game that looks like a proper, new generation project/sequel (excluding X, which we already knew). I sure as fuck wasn't expecting that.

Still blows my mind how good this game looks. I hope it plays better than Mario Kart Wii since it has bikes.

If you're only looking at graphics, then sure.

Where have you been? Retro cups have been in the last three Mario Karts.

Super Circuit, MKDS, MK Wii and MK7 all had retro courses.

MK8 looks amazing. The MArio Kart games always seem to be the ones that show of the hardware the most, and this is no exception. Shows that the WiiU is more capable than current gen if comparing MK8 to the recent Sonic racing games. And being a Nintendo game, you know it will have a rock solid frame rate, unlike any game Sumo has released.

Hmm I don't like MK Wii much, and this seems like a direct sequel. Hopefully they remove the wheelies from the bikes cause it's pretty annoying having to do them all the time to get an advantage.

I like it but I hope Bikes and Karts are balanced. In MKWii Bikes usuallyoutperformed karts with wheelies and inside drifting.

Well i didn't expect to be blown away from the graphics of MK, yet i was.

This looks like a system seller, Nintendo needs to do a MK8 bundle, i'm sure i'll buy it.

Hopefully online will be good, can't wait to spend countless hours on this game.

I want this game this Christmas :(

This has system-seller all over it and instead they push 3D Mario to Christmas instead. Stupid.

It looks almost toy like in terms of graphics (in a good way), such a major shame this isn't until 2014.

If this came out in a month or so I'd buy a Wii U tomorrow.

These are some seriously beautiful bullshots.

Actually, from what I've seen from the actual in-game footage, any screenshot pretty much qualifies as a bullshot -- it's so beautiful. BEAUTIFUL

I am so excited for this, it looks incredibly fun!

I'm stealing this argument from Giant Bomb, but among all of Nintendo's successful franchises, Mario Kart is one of, if not the least abused. One per hardware revision is hardly milking it.

And actual gameplay, with all that new pseudo F-Zero element. Nothing comes even close to this much (proper, useful) ,,change'' in either Donkey Kong, Mario 3D World or Smash. Right now, these feel like half assed, rushed rehashes. Mario Kart doesn't, nor does X.

That's most Nintendo IPs actually...

Maturity, bitches.
I was admiring the screens during the GAF downtime and some of them can be mistaken for the promoart (especially as I first looked at them on the Wii U Gamepad HA HA). I honestly never imagined Mario Kart would look this good because of their 60FPS philosophy. Loving it!

Super Circuit, MKDS, MK Wii and MK7 all had retro courses.
What are you telling me here? I said they were in the last three and you listed the last three.

I'm not really feeling it with the antigravity feature but seeing more of it will probably help.
Little bit baffled that gliding and underwater is back though - hoping it wasn't to necessitate Mario Kart 7 tracks.

The game looks genuinely great, regardless. Some shots borderline on FMV, even if the simple Mario aesthetic and first-time HD is a result of it.

Beautiful, gorgeous game. I haven't been this excited for a Mario Kart game since Double Dash.

I was surprised at how much nicer it looks than Smash >_>

I have to say, I am impressed with this. Some stages and elements do look like MK7+, but the wall climbing is cool and mother fucking WALUIGI is back, so yay for that.

That gameplay looks stunning. I didn't think the trailer was actual gameplay. Wow.

Maybe it speaks volumes about Nintendo right now, but one of the best videos of the Direct was this because I could say 'Thank god, not another fucking 2d platformer.'

Wow, talk about a role reversal. I expected this to just be decent looking while Mario was going to blow me away but now it's Mario Kart 8 that's the game that I look forward to.

The game looks very good from what I've seen but the mention of 12 racers from the dev video and the re-addition of bikes is making me worry. Mario Kart Wii is a game I don't want to relive.

well, 3D Mario and 2D Mario is also one per Hardware (Galaxy 2 more the exception then the rule). The DS even only had a remake as its 3D mario
