Killzone Shadow Fall | Full Forest level gameplay | Best looking game of show?

Division gameplay looked pretty drab to me. Really, the visuals in that demo were nice, but didn't look particularly spectacular outside of the opening pan...

Division looks ok. Nothing that made my jaw drop. KZ SF and Infamous SS looks much better. The one game that truly made my jaw drop though was MGS5. It was easily the prettiest game this E3.

Someone please tell me if you know, what on earth were Sony thinking showing black flag instead of this at the e3 conference? Damn Sony haha

Killzone is pretty much like Crysis..showcasing graphics while the game itself sucks and is pretty much boring. I might be too picky when it comes to FPS but ever since COD4 was released I fell in love with the game mechanics and pretty much anything that plays like it is instant buy for me so yea I can't wait for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Is this for real? Saying Crysis (and killzone but I haven't played the previous ones) sucks and then praising Call of Duty... Wat. Unless you're speaking solely of the multiplayer aspect of the game.

I'm pretty happy that they've committed to a more open game, both in environments and gameplay. Deciding the approach of objectives is cool, but also the order of them is the main thing that sounds promising and I'd like to see how far they take that concept.

It makes sense to have more open games on the systen for the streaming and social features. More reason to watch different people have different experiences with the same games than to watch the same approach over and over.

Yeah, MGS5 looked incredible. I would argue, however, that FFXV looked equally impressive. The asset quality in there is just incredible and the scale looks suitably impressive.

Any example gif showcasing KZ2/3's hit reaction on Shadow Fall? I seem to have missed it?

I like KZ's gameplay btw. I think shooting mechanics were very satisfying, the enemy AI was very good. For example, when you chipped away cover, the enemies adapted to the new height of the cover. That looked sweet. And the hit reaction was not shabby, it looked very visceral seeing your bullets affect your opponent.

I know I'll get flack from some of you and I say this not to berate KZSF's visuals beyond the obvious issues I mentioned before, but I honestly felt Divsion took the cake, especially, if it was running on PS4 (given their usage of ps4 controller). I think it came down to the aesthetics of the visual. Plus I found the lighting to be more pleasing, effusing atmosphere. It's the same reason why I prefer the visuals of infamous second son over KZSF.

To me killzone always will be killzone 2. The current one looks precise (aiming for photo realism) and clinical but to me it lacks soul.

Isn't this just 30 years after what happened in KZ3? (or was it 20?)

Either way, it took the higgs like three generations to adapt to the Helghan planet. I imagine it will take a few more to lessen the need of masks as 30 years isn't enough.
They also have some sort of long burn, so they have to replicate Helghan's air on Vektan basically.
I don't remember the exact details, but I think this was mentioned in KZ1 or KZ PSP and there is a lot more details on the KZ website about the storyline.

They didn't need the masks in the other games either. The masks were what they wore when they were first on Helghan but they eventually adapted. Visari brought back the masks as a symbol of pride and intimidation. They're purely symbolic.

Thank you guys.

The city footage was incredible. This? Not so much. In fact, if someone told me it was running on a PS3, I wouldn't second guess them. And the pop is pretty bad. It's clear that the KZ team has far more experience at creating city scapes and not so much in forests.

I find it very good looking but to me doesn`t look next gen as some other games at E3. In it`s defense it is showing real gameplay every time, while many E3 games showed cutscenes and scripted gameplay (the Division).

Lol.

Ubi-bullshot.

Still, if it really was running on the PS4, then yes, The Division has taken the crown.

You're putting a BS up against compressed video and video captures. This is when you do exact like for like.

Looks like State of Decay meets Halo with a bit of Resistance thrown in.

Seriously though, Killzone's reveal trailer back in Feb is still the most impressive thing I've seen graphically, even if it was on-rails. This looks very good, but doesn't have the jaw-dropping wow factor of the city.

I say it definitely looks impressive but given they "only" have 30fps leaves a lot of ressources to play with in comparison to fps-games that are to render with 60fps.

I like colors palette and some effects, for the rest it's nothing special.
Gameplay-wise, it seems a generic and not so well-crafted patchwork of the last FPS trends.
The usual Guerrilla game, in other words.

Everyone's passing around that The Division screen, which does look great, but in motion I don't think the game looks anywhere near as good as any of Killzone or Battlefield 4 single-player we've seen.

Do people really think it's better looking in motion?

bf4 looks more technical impressive due to destruction and all the shit that is going on the screen at once.

In one footage you can see the entire city rendered below as was seen in the first reveal footage. There are far bigger and more dense scenes in this thany anything from BF4.

Also on Quantum Break, they have shown precious little on that game. Strangest game reveal I have ever seen. I have absolutely no sense of what the game actually is. They talk about an action game and then show weird interactive cutscenes. Maybe it is like Heavy Rain.

Incredible visuals like we'd expect from GG. To think a launch title looks this good...
That area seems to be fairly open, which in combination with that portable zipline should be a lot of fun. They wouldn't introduce that zipline if the game was full of narrow corridors so I'm expecting good things as far as level design is concerned.

This. KZ is overrated.

So strange to hear a Battlefield fan claim Killzone is generic or overrated. Killzone is considerably more creative, diverse, and different. This transfers over from the weapons, vehicles, mechs, jet packs, multiplayer, multiplayer modes, classes, world, characters, locations and so on and so on.

Whilst the hit detection animations in SF look lame so far (guessing they'll fix it), what KZ is best known for is tactile shooting, amazing AI (best in class) and superb hit detection animations and kill satisfaction. In the latter, speaking purely in terms of visceral killing, I think KZ is unmatched. Having said that, I do agree Shadow Fall needs some work.

See that looks very impressive, but I fail to see what sets it apart from some of the other games at the show. Detail looks just as impressive in stuff like FFXV, as does the lighting. Animations looked more impressive in FFXV I would say, and effects looked probably more impressive. Plus we saw scenes where a lot more was going on. I mean I think it looks very good, but there were a number of games that impressed me more than the Division.

I'm all for Division graphics boasting. It was my second, or joint first pick for best graphics of the show, as I stated on day one of the conferences. KZ just seems to push more geometry and scale though, maybe better textures too, but Division has that amazing lighting and post processing that gives it a very muted realistic tone. By contrast KZ is slightly exaggerated.

The pop-in looks way more noticeable this time around.

I'm expecting a downgrade from the reveal gameplay.
