Just another example of Nintendo's complete and utter inability to see what is around them.

It is mind boggling that they didnt show this.

Looking forward to the reveal, hope they actually shake things up a bit this time.

You know what would be awesome? A Legend of Zelda where Zelda is the main playable character.

This isn't surprising, the general attitude nintendo has fisplayed towards large style reveals isn't indicative of doing large drops of content at one conference. They've been trying to move towards using directs to slowly trickle content out Over a year.

I'm kind of glad they didn't show it. I'm content with WWHD for now, and it would have been overshadowed.

That said I'm extremely excited to here it's further along in development than expected. Man is it going to be good!

Wow, imagine MM 3D and Zelda Wii U for next year - paradise!

And no, Link won't look like the SSB4 Link. To be honest, this one looks a little too generic for a console Zelda game.

I'm sorry, but to me

this spells 4 Swords. You could complete the dungeons in the first GBA game in any order.

I'm just putting this out there so you all won't be incredibly disappointed when they ditch the Zelda tech demo graphics and gameplay in the name of multiplayer fun for the whole family

Yeah, I'm worried about this after they even fucked up 3D Mario.
At least we still have the 3DS...

Maybe it'll be multi-player, maybe it'll be single-player with 'help' from others via Miiverse etc. Maybe they changed their minds since they wrote that. Nintendo seems to be moving more and more towards multiplayer for its games, though.

Wwe already had Link to the past 2 and WWHD; if they would have shown the next, I bet that we would have seen a lot of "always zelda, they are milking it, boooring"...

It's actually a really, really smart idea. They were completely shut out after the Playstation 4 event. Even Smash Brothers with the insane Wii Fit Girl, Mega Man, and Villager announcements only generated fair praise. So instead, they may have cut out anything they haven't fully committed themselves to. The Direct was originally going to be 60 minutes. This may explain the reduced time on the Nintendo Direct. I thought this game was going to be shown, personally. I was pretty adamant about it and how I think it's going to be a sequel to Majora's Mask.

Don't know where else to put this but Aonuma possibly taking some Skyrim influence on Zelda Wii U?

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-14-breaking-the-link-to-the-past-zeldas-eiji-aonuma

EG: As part of opening up Zelda games for a new generation, are you looking at any other games for inspiration? Dark Souls, perhaps, or Skyrim?

Aonuma: Skyrim! [For some reason mention of Bethesda's fantasy epic tickles him, and he laughs.] Obviously I play other games, and I'm curious what Zelda fans like about the Skyrim experience. Maybe there are some Zelda fans who are looking for something similar out of a Zelda game.

All people really want to know is: (well me at least, ha)

Late 2014 or sometime 2015?

I don't doubt the game will be good. But what is the release date?

This is going to be the turning point in Zelda. I thought Skyward Sword would be that game, but now, I am really anticipating this latest release in the series.

No doubt it will be 2015. This is their first foray into HD, and as one of their flagship titles, will require a lot of work, especially with the new ideas they are apparently bringing in.

What do you mean?

P.S I think that news might be thread worthy.

I'll maker a thread?

While dissapointing, if it's true then:

Early 2015 or late 2015?

If the game is 2+ years from being released, then don't even talk about it IMO.

I would predict late 2015. Late 2011 was when SS finished up. That's 4 years development time including A Link Between Worlds and Wind Waker HD. I think that is a great time frame considering that workload. Also, holidays would always be the best bet for sales.

They're talking about it probably because of concerns over the stagnation of the series, the troubles of HD development, the troubles of WIi U and general interest of insatiable appetite from gamers.

this show is not Breaking Bad why is it not Breaking Bad? it should be Breaking Bad dammit Breaking Bad
Wow that design is magnificent!

But this one still tops everything really. Just fantastic art style.

I would go for a more triangular, sharp look. I don't want the Link to the Past artstyle to invade the console's take.
I don't want another SS, these ww looks, and alttp looks are better suited for the portable.

I can see how you like it, I just want smash U design to push the console to its limits, unlike SS and WW.

We don't have the dreaded console limitations anymore, so they should spoil us while they can.

This one Miyamoto, I WANT THIS ONE!:

Not really surprising they didn't show it. They probably don't want it to overshadow Wind Waker and A Link Between World.

I never liked perfect biseinen Link. Who is that Link anyway, shouldn't SS Link be in Smash Bros?

Not always, the SSB4 Link design could be an indication of how Zelda Wii U will look, the design is a fuse between Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess which I love.

SS didn't push the console? what?

I'd take any of them. But ALBW is just out of this world.
