No spare money to spend on luxuries, I guess. I wonder how well PS4 and One will do later this year. I can see it doing reasonably well, but unless wages see a massive improvement, sales will likely be disappointing as people stick with PS360.

I was thinking about Sony's comment about 60% of PSV games are downloaded. Not sure if that applies to UK (doubtful), but if it did then PSV software unit sales would be over 400K YTD including retail and digital. That compares reasonably well with NDS and 3DS, although there is no question it should be stronger if Sony intends for people to take it seriously.

Also, adding in another 10% digital for 3DS (just to make up a number) would surely make it look far better too.

I'm wondering if that 60% includes digital exclusive titles too. It's the only way it could add up, IMHO. IIRC, "only" famousmortimer talked about it, but your wording makes me think Sony itself gave that comment too: did they officially say that?

Thanks! It says "All Vita titles": this should mean digital only titles are included too, alongside retail titles.
In my master list of all U.S. PSV software, I came up with 127 titles, including the digital-only ones listed on the PSV digital storefront. Sony said "over 125" or something in that same presentation where they said the 60%-line. So they're talking physical+digital sales, in my opinion. Does that jibe with what you're saying.

Thanks, what week does your data go back till? It seems that MCV no longer have their archive available online. I recently went to the British Library, but unfortunately I have to preorder copies of MCV and CTW as they are not kept onsite. I will do that sometime, but wonder what period their "worst week ever" started from. I guess since Chart-Track formed in 1996 (as a management buy-out from Gallup who decided to quit the UK game charts after managing them since 1984) then this is the worst ever week since 1996, which would be awful. I expect Chart-Track (Dorian Bloch) would be more likely to give an answer to Gamasutra than me though :)

I only have back through January 2008. :( If there is a way to get data further back, I'd love to pursue that. Can an American request copies of MCV and CTW through the British Library?

Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed PS3 exclusive is Sony's first all formats No.1 since Uncharted: Golden Abyss on Vita back in week eight of 2012, Chart-Track reports.

It's also the third fastest-selling game of 2013 behind Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite, and the biggest launch for a new IP since LA Noire in week 20 of 2011.

3DS exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf recorded the biggest launch on the portable since December 2011's Mario Kart 7 and the best ever for a non-Mario title.

Outside of the top ten, Rugby Challenge 2: The Lions Tour Edition was a new entry at No.12.

GfK/Chart-Track Top 10 (previous week):

The Last of Us (Sony)
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Nintendo)
Grid 2 (Codemasters)
Tomb Raider (Square Enix)
FIFA 13 (EA)
Injustice: Gods Among Us (Warner)
Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft)
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition (Bethesda)
Luigi's Mansion 2 (Nintendo)
Assassin's Creed 3 (Ubisoft)

Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed PS3 exclusive ‘The Last Of Us’ becomes Sony’s first All Formats No1 since ‘Uncharted: Golden Abyss’ on Vita back in W8 2012. It is the 3rd fastest selling game of 2013 behind ‘Tomb Raider’ and ‘Bioshock Infinite’ and the biggest launch for a new IP since ‘L.A Noire’ in W20 2011. The industry also receives a well needed shot in the arm from Nintendo’s ‘Animal Crossing: New Leaf’ which debuts at No2 with the biggest 3DS launch since ‘Mario Kart 7’ and the biggest 3DS launch ever for a non-Mario title. ‘Grid 2’ (-45%) slips from top spot to No3 while ‘Tomb Raider’ (+53%) enjoys the spoils of a price promotion, climbing from No7 to No4. After 3 weeks at No2, ‘FIFA 13’ (-32%) has to settle for No5 this week, ahead of a resurgent previous No1 ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ (+47%), back in the Top 10 at No6 thanks to competitive retailer pricing. ‘Far Cry 3’ (-1%) remains Ubisoft’s top seller, down from No5 to No7, while the 2 week old Legendary Edition of Skyrim (-6%) falls 4 places to No8. Animal Crossing isn’t the only 3DS Top 10 title this week as sales of ‘Luigi’s Mansion 2’ are up 18%, minimising its drop to just one place to No9. ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (+18%) is a non-mover at No10, while outside the Top 10 there is a new entry for ‘Rugby Challenge 2: The Lions Tour Edition’ at No12.

3DS storming the charts in the Top 5 :O

Plus MH3U raising and NSMB2 back in top 40. And Luigi being 18% higher than last week. Yeah, Animal Crossing had a big effect on hardware sales.

If we must be sincere, MH3U probably got influenced by the GAME deal (159.99 for the bundle instead of 189.99) :p
