You can change their armour in XCOM? Huh. I always thought customize was just for their faces and names and stuff.

I got Icebreaker - played the first 5 levels. I do like it quite a bit-it's a "angry birds" style game, with level progression and trying to solve each level with fewer "swipes" but it appears you're rated on the "coins" you find per level. it's actually pretty clever the way the mechanic is set up-you swipe to slice the giant chunks of ice, and then it will slide down a path-hopefully to your character where they will break up the ice to get out the other viking and/or treasure chests. It has the usual Roxio polish - I highly suggest it so far.

Has anyone picked up Home? Not sure if I should get it for PC or IOS.

Hey there; I'm the developer of Home. Just a note: my personal favourite way to play the game is on an iPhone. The PC version will be updated with the extra features and content currently in the iOS version, but that'll happen in a few weeks.

Not trying to sell; just adding some info.

Badland is on sale right now for just a few bucks and my first impressions: it's AWESOME. Maybe even up there with Rayman Jungle Run. Very atmospheric and unique art-wise. Certainly as pretty as Rayman Jungle Run and just as optimized (runs lovely on my iPhone 4). GET IT.

Sadly, yes. You also don't have as many extra armor/hair options as on consoles. :( really a bummer as I use colors to help differentiate my soldiers.

White = Medic
Black = Sniper
Green = Support
Yellow = Rookie / There's always casulties in war...
Pink = Meatsack / Alien shocker thing...

Heavies? Pah; never use them.

I played it last year on PC and liked it. It's short but meant to be played numerous times to understand the story. It's a creepy adventure game that is focused on exploration and item gathering with, if I'm remembering right, a few puzzles here and there.

thx for the info. Sounds like iPhone is the way to go :D

I downloaded that Minion Rush game. Probably the best temple run-esque game I've played recently. The visuals and animation are great and a lot of the power ups go beyond the usual shield/magnet fare. The random boss fights are nice too.

Trying out puzzle pirates next.
Edit: eh, honestly a little drab for a puzzle game. Visually and aesthetically it's a bit underwhelming too. Pass.

Thanks for posting. What is the control scheme on iOS?

It's all touch-based (no virtual sticks). Just tap and hold on the left or right side of the screen to move, double-tap to interact with things, and tap on-screen options when they're presented. It's actually pretty relaxing!

Jumping back into the iOS gaming game (lol) since i just got my brand new iPhone 5. Huge upgrade from my iPhone 4. I think I stick with my iPad 2 for most iOS gaming until the new mini is out though

by the way, Deep Dungeons of Doom received an update and runs so much better now on older devices like the ipod touch 4

I could be because I'm really exhausted and tired-and incapable of any creative thinking right now, but I'm stuck on the pipe/water puzzle early on. Could you give me a spoiler marked hint?

Ravenmark:Mercenaries seems really promising.
First 15 minutes are awesome.
Planning to spend the night on this.

Oh yeah! You guys, if you've downloaded the game, my Commander Name is Gilgamesh. Challenge me and bring on the pain! :O

EDIT: Just a friendly reminder that only completed Random multiplayer matches will award XP to your Brigades, but challenge me anyway if you want to say you beat a dev at their own game. :D

Not actually that important
YAY, back from BANLAND! ^_^

Picked up Baldur's Gate in the meantime and I want to specify that I was able to DL it yesterday no problem, since when I bought it a few days before the copyrights fiasco I didn't have freakin' 5GB (!!) worth of free space on my Mini.

Also, this came in a few days ago :D
Well, it was the prize that Skybound and Gamagio, makers of The Walking Dead's iOS action game, put up (among other things) while "sponsoring" our latest iOS highscore contest (namely "GAF's iOS Challenge 7 -Tiny Wings' Distance Leaderboard") and that TWD Series Creator, Mr.Robert Kirkman, wanting to be involved with the giveaway, blessed with his signature and attached a dedication to yours truly ("..to Damianol"!)
How cool is that?!
The truly incredible thing is that GAF member AngryMoth, who had won the grand prize but isn't a huge TWD fan, really wanted me to have it and gifted it to me. ^_^ also props to Tunesmith and everyone else who agreed with that! I was pretty darn excited when I opened the UPS pack and found this goddamn beautiful marvel :D

^ welcome back! I didn't realize you were banned! What happened? lol

And grats on the book. That's pretty fucking awesome of AngryMoth to give it away

Is the AppStore down for anyone else? Couldn't access it from my iPad, iPhone, or iTunes.

Non-spoiler hint: pay attention to what's on the walls, and listen to the sounds things make.

Hope that helps!

Finally picked up Frontiers HD for my iPad, and it's addicting as hell, I've been playing all day. Great game.

If anyone not PRO with the game (thanks for the offer awesome dev, but I do not want to be humiliated :p) want to test her/his skills with fresh meat, challenge me, my commander name is Crom.

I haven't put proper time in game as much as I wanted, but what measures has been taken to prevent the players with most hours/gold under the belt to afford and assemble the best brigades (if they exists)?
Just curious, I saw many brigades you can hire.

God damn this is taking forever to load a level wtf

Not sure if this has been posted yet but IGN is giving away free Plants vs Zombies HD codes: http://www.ign.com/prime/promo/pvz-iphone

Just click "get my code" to redeem, there's no sign up or anything.

You're linking to the iPhone version give-away.

this is the iPad version: http://www.ign.com/prime/promo/pvz-ipad

It's fine for me, and yes! Super awesome of AngryMoth to do!

Btw:

Dash, you should turn off the mobile GAF version for a bit and soak in the new GAF experience.

I just picked up an iPhone 5 and was looking for some games to grab. I had a 4 but stayed away from games because most ran terribly. This plants vs zombies deal could not have come at a better time. Any other steals I can get?

Alright, you convinced me. Bought.

When I can wrestle myself away from X-Com I'll give it a shot.

Am I right in feeling that Home is a quality release worthy of OP?
I've got it but it doesn't run in iOS 7 so I have no clue yet (iOS 6 iPad has no room to install - XCOM!).

Little Inferno is still on sale I think and it's a very nice game actually. Also Badland is for 2 dollars at the moment and I think it's a fair price for this title.

Hail to the KING baby
I'm coming from xcom on PC and man am I having a hard time coming to grips with the iPad UI. Thought it would be easier since the PC UI is pretty subpar imo, but somehow I'm actually finding it harder to navigate/distinguish between multiple levels on the playfield and new stuff has come up like the fact that they don't show you the full extent of how much you can move afaict. Maybe I need to do the tutorial. Was hoping to do an ironman game on here and a regular one on PC since it really is a pretty perfect portable game.

Finished veteran Kingdom Rush Frontiers, it's easier but still very addicting and satisfying

Put in the effort for each challenge and got to enjoy max star upgrades on the last 2 levels

Now have to grind and search for missing achievements, taking Alric along to max him too

I hope they release bonus levels soon - in the original these really raised the challenge bar
