The shoulders are very similar to his designs for Unicorn and even a few of the Wing EW suits. Still while the head and shoulder are cool, the chest is fucking horrible.

I really can't stand it when they try to give a robot a look as though it has abs, just ugly to me.

I don't see how that looks like abs, it just looks like the hatch openings of a cockpit or something. If you want abs...

Not sure how much that would have changed it. Hino had a chance to do something unique, have the lead be the villian. He had the setup and everything, he even had two heroes so he could have still had the Champion of Justice or whatever.

The fact that he was to weak to allow his original lead to go through with it, and then try to absolve him of all the damage and cruelty he caused only highlighted how awful both Flit and Kio are.

The only thing I liked about Kio was the fact that he flat out said to Flit "You're no Savior." Otherwise, yeah, Kio was awwwwwful. Really the tanking of Ezelcant was what cemented my hatred of the show, though. Because like you said, it had been lots and lots of lead up to finally meeting the UE, then
they turn out to be normal people with a horrible homeland.
Then suddenly the mustache twirling plan of stupid.

Seeing them in pain is painful, if they can be relieved sometime. Maybe Azrael can lose or something and be removed from their command. But as Living CPU's maybe theyd be kicked to the side once their utility hit zero :( I just want them all to have a good end and not be off'd by the plot just for plot reasons. Though I have faith considering how Seed has gone so far
yesterday's enemies becoming todays friends (Athrun, Dearka, for example)
.

What is Flay even doing why cant she just stay safe and secure in the quarters instead of launching out...and the whole reveal with Mu and Rau, I might pop in 43 immediately just to finally figure out the connection and why they sense each other.

Oh man, I keep wanting to watch this again for the first time like you're doing every time you update us. Although, given your assumptions about the plot...lol

Why do you hate Bolt so much? Not trying to start something I'm just curious haha.
Because to me, there are two types of bulky Gundams.

Type 1 - Double Zeta, S-Gundam, Ex-s Gundam, Khsatriya, and Rezel Commander Type. These machines radiate power and their size enhances their presence.

Type 2 - Bolt, Gundam MK5, Serave, and Xi. These are Gundams that rely on their bulk to be intimidating but at least to me are largely failures and actually has their size work against them because they just look dumb and bloated.

To me the best way to describe the feeling is Nu V Nu HWS.

Nu Gundam is amazing, has an Asymmetrical design and while huge maintains an elegance that few Gundam's can hope to capture. Where as Nu HWS is nothing but a ugly mess that is overloaded with garbage that Nu doesn't need to function and in alot of areas could very well limit Nu's abilities.

This issue is probably why I hate Gundam AGE more then usual Gundam fan. AGE III Normal had a real chance at being a Type 1, something that very hard to pull off, and the Lineart made it seem as if it would pull it off. Sadly the actually AGE III Normal was nothing but a total number 2, and even barely that because the bulk is actually largely not there and is more of an optical illusion then an acutal large and powerful Gundam.

Ah I see, yeah I can see what you mean. Sadly the SA weren't really all that developed so sort of sucks that we never got to see them become something truly great.

Also, fuck that video. I really want a Crossbone anime now. Goddamn it.

You and about a million other F91 fanboys, myself included.

As much as I like Seabook, and would love for Judau to show up again, I really hope Sunrise never gives people this.

Alot of the Crossbone stuff can be really bad at times, and at least to me Tobia isn't a very good lead. Would it be as bad as Gundam AGE? Certainly not, but to me a Crossbone feature would need to be even more heavily edited then Unicorn Gundam.

Tobia is a great lead man, and Seabook makes this even better. Honestly what is better a bunch of SEED, 00 or AGE stuff or a "new" gundam like Crossbone. I'd rather have Crossbone even with it's more wacky things than more space hitler.

The only parts of Crossbone that need to be animated are the 6(?) volumes Tomino wrote. Those comics are greaaaaat (but look like total shit).

Of course I would take Crossbone over 00, Age, or SEED.

Thing is I much rather something new. With the Origin coming up Sunrise has no fucking excuse to pull the SEED and AGE bullshit of recycling 0079, because 0079 will be fresh.

Three straight UC series is a bit much, we need something, and that something be new between Unicorn, Origin and a Crossbone/UC follow up.

AHAHAHAHA. It's so good. Also I hated those guys. Not as much as the ones in Destiny, but man I didn't like them. Also, that
Mu and Rau thing
blew my mind the first time around.

ZZ is probably my favorite not-G series, but I hated the ZZ. It was like inflation fetish art for the super cool Zeta Gundam.

I can see this. My problem with new AU Gundams is they're sort of a gamble. The last one I thought was good was SEED, and it was just riffing off 0079 the whole time. I applaud 00 for trying to do its own thing the first season, even if I didn't wind up enjoying it. It's better, I think, for Gundam to try its own thing than live forever in the shadows of past series, as AGE did.

I'm not a fan of the ZZ either. I'm not a fan of the core block system, and it was weird how the ZZ was both a core block and a transformer. Felt really overcomplicated.

The only core-block suits I like are the V and V2, and that's mostly because of how Usso uses the systems.

See this is one of the reasons I love ZZ. Also the fact that ZZ has the only really good transformation in the massive G Fortress. Thing is amazing. The Core Top and Core Bottom are weak on their own, but when combined into the Fortress, I just can't help but love it.

Even Old Man Judau is better then 99% of leads even at their best.

I just didn't like it because it wasn't the Zeta. Roux got the best Gundam.

I don't deny that, but if Judau is old that means Roux is old and I'm not ready for that.

Ugh I hated Roux, then again I hate every Gundam female outside of maybe like 2. So maybe that is why I would be looking out for it so much haha.

I loved Roux. She wasn't Emma Sheen, but she was the next best thing.

Didn't care for Emma either haha.

The only two Females I've ever cared for in Gundam are Dorothy from Wing and Lacus from SEED.

Sadly Dorothy was underused in EW and is being weird as hell in Frozen and Lacus made me want to kill myself in SEED Destiny.

Dorothy was kinda great in Wing. She was like Quess if Quess had been a good character and less hellbent on getting Char's/Zechs' dick. Lacus is okay through the above described method of Empress Clyne.

But I like other ladies, too. Mirai Yashima and Frau Bow (I mean come on, that time when Frau Bow goes to pilot the Gundam herself and just straight up RUINS Amuro for being such a bitch.), Emma Sheen. I liked Ensign Rekkua until her character committed sudoku. Haman Khan, Roux Louka, Mineva Zabi's turned out nice. Rain Mikimura. Fuck Allenby Beardsley, though. Lady Une (NOT SALLY PO) and Noin are okay. Soma Pires was one of the best things about 00, and LOL at women being in Gundam AGE.

Emma was nice because it was nice to have one teenager on the Argama and Radish who wasn't a knuckle dragging moron.

Pretty sure Roux doesn't even show up in Crossbone.

Hurts even worse.

I take back my two only comment, I did like Haman. Though the weird double standard that has propped up around the Frozen Teardrop Old Man/Young Woman being labled as pedo while everyone is just willing to over look Haman being in love with Judau has pushed me away from Haman more then I would like.

Still anyone badass enough pilot a Quebly and actually have it come across as cool is totally worth praise. Thats something I really need to get. A Haman Qeub MG. I like to buy them in sets for rivals though, and I refuse to buy ZZ 1.0, that thing needs a 2.0 so bad it hurts.

If only I could get a ZZ and Alex 2.0 then I could finally grab Q and Kampfer.

I never really felt like Haman was in love with Judau. Just that she wanted to seduce him so that his powers would be at her use. It kinda fits in with how Haman treats men in ZZ. She does it to Mashmyre and Glemy, too.

Pretty sure you meant Sayla Mass. Frau Bow never even came to close to piloting anything in 0079, except for a Dune Buggy, afaik.

Agree with the rest of it.

Mirai Yashima especially, is one heck of a female character. Her character never gets tarnished throughout the entire series. She doesn't fall into any of those typical tropes you'd find with the other female anime characters.

Bright is lucky to have her. Any lesser woman would not be as understanding or as patient with him and his dedication to his work in the military.

I'm like you, I didn't liked it that much and it felt like an useless gimmick that even the characters forgot about after some time.

Not as bad as the Impulse though. Now this is bullshit, they have all those silhouettes and a few spare leg/chest flyers dusting in the hangar, but only one Core Splendor, despite the terrific advantage having one or two more Impulses would give them? Now that's bullshit.

Wasn't it confirmed by Tomino that Haman was actually in love with Judau? I was pretty sure that it was canon that she actually loved him.

You're right that Frau Bow does not pilot the Gundam. But she DOES go to pilot it. Its just that she bumps into Amuro on the way and she fucking ruins his soul so hard that he finally feels enough shame to go and pilot it himself. Frau's unrelenting in that scene. She's like "I'll pilot it instead. I guess you aren't a man because men don't run from their problems." etc. She just wrecks him.

Yeah that's why I think Shinn's strategy to beat Kira is nonsense. Because why would they have THAT MANY parts just lying around when they could have an entire squadron of state of the art Impulse Gundams instead?

Wasn't it confirmed by Tomino that Haman was actually in love with Judau? I was pretty sure that it was canon that she actually loved him.

I dunno. I haven't exactly read anything by Tomino. It's just hard to imagine Haman being in love with anyone.

I would like Rain alot more if she wasn't in love with Domon. I know he is loved, but his shtick got really freaking old for me and I just didn't like him like most seem to.

The same could be said for Judau haha.

Seriously though, in all his appearances in games and stuff its always about how he attracts other people to him.

I feel like its more true of Kamille. Literally every woman Kamille Bidan ever spoke to wanted to jump in his pants. It was nuts. Judau just had a tendency to pick up little sisters EVERYWHERE he went.

DAT MOBILE TRACE SCENE. I liked Rain because she wasn't just Domon's girlfriend. Also she wasn't annoying as heck. Oh and triple points for not being a Princess.

Yeah but even if you don't like Domon, I feel like Rain's relationship with him should be appreciable. The show manages to devote a significant amount of time to it without making it overbearing. The moment when Allenby asks Domon
if he's ever once even told Rain he loves her
was pretty well done, but only because we've seen Rain take so much crap from him recently that
she up and leaves him.

A lot better than say, Heero and Relena. And Fa. UGH FA.

High five man.

EDIT: You know I just realized, if the pilots had sex using the mobile trace system. That would make for some hilarious shit man. Like people watching the gundam move accordingly from the outside.

I would like Rain alot more if she wasn't so hideously drawn. G Gundam doesn't have the best art style in general, and Rain is especially bad.

Also her dub voice is terrible

Other side of the world? You should visit Brazil again man.

Also, that song is awesome. I remember listening to it a while ago when I was helping throw a Disney/animation themed party.

I miss Brazil almost as much as my wallet would miss the funds it would take to visit. I would kill a man dead for some Churrasco, Pao de Queijo, bowl of Acai and a nice, tall Guarana.

Everybody not named Master Asia has a bad voice in the dub. It's why I'm rewatching it in Japanese. Because its dub is a phoned in early 90s dub.

Its really hard to watch any anime pre late 1980s because the style is just old and muddy looking. Especially compared to the 1080 HD era. Even Wing was a big jump over G.

So I finished Unicorn and it wasn't bad. Now I know its time to move on to F91, but before that, I was wondering: Is Gundam Evolve worth checking out? I mean there's an episode devoted to Roux and Judau there.

Totally worth it.

Way back when, before CG became common all around us and therefore sucky and mainstream, the one segment that really, really stood out to me was the one featuring Amuro beating the shit out of Quess in his Nu Gundam using his fin funnels.

It was really gorgeous to me back then. Very nicely detailed. My mouth was on the floor the whole time. Great accompanying soundtrack too.

The episode with Domon and Rain sparring is also bloody hilarious.
