I haven't been in the loop with SG. What's Peacock's best zoning methods and how to close the gap? I was playing with Squiggly a lil bit and see that her singing move closes the distance but I am learning her solo... so it was pretty hard and it looks like I'll need an assist perhaps.
I can't play the PC beta, so I can't really help you out much when it comes to Squigly since I don't know which methods would be best for her against the Peacock matchup. Just speaking from what I've seen/heard though, superjumping and using her air options like the divekick to alter her landing trajectory or that really far reaching Dhalsim-like normal of hers would be a good idea. Does she have an airdash? Make sure to use that as well if she does. Be careful when pressing buttons in the air though, since Peacock can call an Item Drop to punish you if she's not already doing something else like the bomb cancels (which I believe disappear now when she gets hit). Use that singing move of hers that closes the distance, of course, and don't forget to throw out that sing super of hers that calls out a projectile that stays in front of you (I think?) to use as a potential shield.
Learn the trajectory of her anti-air bomb.
The key to fighting Peacock is patience. Don't let her projectile spam overwhelm you and look for the gaps in her patterns. Be on the look out for her teleports when you've got her cornered as they are easily punishable. Don't forget that her "Garbage Day" move is actually just a normal, so she can cancel it any time to a bomb, item drop, or teleport (for baby mixups). Her laser super is very punishable at close ranges. After the first initial laser don't be scared to just dash up and hit her if you're close enough. If you're far away and they randomly use the super, block the initial laser and superjump over the 2nd volley using anything you have to close the distance and/or float in the air. Or just block after the jump.
Don't pushblock her projectiles when you're trying to close the distance.
I don't know how viable Solo Squigly is, but I always recommend having an assist in general for this game. Just feels like you're handicapping yourself if you don't. Parasoul's H tear is faster than all of Peacocks projectiles, but not a very useful assist otherwise. You can try using one of Cerebella's armored moves to act as a shield. I think you can use her ram attack as an assist in the beta now? If so, then definitely try that. You could try having an invincible uppercut assist for when you finally get close enough to put pressure on her and challenge any uppercut assists of her own.
Also consider learning another character, like Parasoul who does very well against Peacock, and using Squigly herself as an assist (the singing move that closes the distance).
Best advice really is be patient, block, and close the distance as best you can.
You should head to the Skullgirls OT in the gaming community tab since they can be way more helpful than me.
