Dunno why I laughed hard at the "Are you ready? o_O Take a look at this o_O" followed by pushing the box aside like it's fucking trash.

He was referring to the headset, MS just announced it today instead.

His tweet was actually from yesterday (PDT), it was referring to the chat set indeed. 9am EDT today IGN posted about the chat headset. It's already happened. I think people are looking at the time of the tweet and getting confused, in IGN's timezone it was still yesterday when that was tweeted.

So am I to understand that the new Kinect basically has the IR blaster attached to it instead of a separate device connected to your console? That means there's no way they're going to remove Kinect from the console as it's setup to go through Kinect for controlling your stuff.

Just got a chance to watch this, and I'm liking the aesthetic they have going here. I agree that the Kinect sensor looks big, but at least it matches the system well.

I think one of the biggest reasons the early Xbox Live community was so much more vibrant (for me at least) than the PSN community was directly related to the fact that everyone had a headset, so I found it interesting that they had considered NOT including one this go round. Glad they changed their mind.

If a launch game is included on a "how much will each platform cost you to get going on day 1" list on one side, a non-launch game should also be included on the other side?

Wat?
Are we talking about different lists ? I was referring to the comparison of features list not day 1 price list
So many lists!!lol

Kinect has one built in and there is also a separate bundled one in case the Kinect setup doesn't work.

Wait, are you saying the micro USB connection will charge rechargable AA batteries while they're in the controller? Are you sure that's how it will work? Does the 360 controller currently operate as a rechargable battery recharger when you use standard rechargable batteries and connect the play and charge cable?

Doubt it. My guess is you'll need the play and Charge battery pack, but who knows.

"Also of note, the video's subsequent blog post reveals that Xbox One gamepads recharge using microUSB rather than the proprietary cable used for charging Xbox 360 gamepads. Moreover, when the One's gamepad is plugged in, the internal wireless radio is turned off and it transmits data through the wire (which was not the case with the 360 gamepad)."

You know what that means.... you no longer need a wired controller for PC gaming. :)

That's great news. If they continue this momentum I might be swayed from my PS4 only stance. But no Fanatec wheel support pretty much shoots down the most important reason to own an XB1 and that is Forza.

I guess, but looks aren't everything. Dre's Beats look impressive and my Sony earbuds look like shit, but my Sony earbuds sound a lot better than those Beats.
Yea that's true. For these headsets though; the sole reason I like the Xbox one is because it'll stay on your head seemingly easier. I'm assuming the sound quality will be the same between the two. Still though, having a headset include in every box for the PS4 will make PSN and friend interactivity so much better. I'm so happy about that.

That is how I understand it as well, which is why I don't think there will ever be a SKU which doesn't include Kinect.

Bingo.

I believe it's also why they are able to add in features such as easy/fast split screen switching based on controller/player position as well.

Nothing in that statement suggests that the controller acts as a standard AA recharger. It uses micro USB with the play and charge battery pack instead of the proprietary cable they had once used.

"Unlimited storage with the cloud" is just a dumb marketing term for an account system. Can use external HDDs MAY be an advantage is has over PS4, but that's another thing we don't know about the PS4 so you can't really mark it as advantageous.
I call bullshit saying unlimited cloud storage is a marketing term. Fanboy post right there.
You have no idea on how to feature works. Assuming with get you nowhere. We can only go off of what we know and what MS claims.

I just can't see how anyone who truly cares about games and the future of the industry could support this console...no matter how much they change. They showed their true colors and started backtracking because they were getting completely decimated in preorders. They don't care about the gamer at all. Sure, you'll have decent exclusives for a while, but then they'll completely abandon that in the end just like they did with 360. I can't support them based on principle alone.

So a company is only as good as it's worst decision? Careful with that line of thinking or you'll never allow yourself to buy or eat anything ever again.

When has any company who claims "unlimited storage" actually provided you truly unlimited storage? I mean unlimited is an impossible thing to achieve so it is absolutely marketing to say that word.

Words like "infinite" and "unlimited" means it is never ending which is impossible to achieve, so it's bullshit.

The micro USB cable will charge the batteries if you are using the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit (it will not charge generic rechargeable AA batteries).

On the Xbox Wire website. No recharging of AA batteries with a micro USB cable.

Indeed, that was the big difference for me. It was really just a cheap $20 pack in accessory. The standard invites didn't hurt either, but without the headset I never would have kept in contact with people.

You're assuming, is it plausible? Probably not. But we have no info on how it works to mark it as a marketing ploy is premature. Also if not unlimited could be significant.

Yeah I figured this was the case. It's still great that they're going with lithium this time so that the play and charge battery pack doesn't become a useless brick.

The power on sound sounds a bit like the first half of Mario 1UP :)

From a technical point of view, why does the Xbox One uses a big powerbrick when PS4 doesnt?

They only allow certain types of files to be stored so it is controllable.
If they never deny you space for those files, it's indeed unlimited.

Yeah, it doesn't charge AA's, that's kind of ridiculous to think it would. It just turns your wireless controller into a wired and my guess is that IF you have the P&C kit you won't need a different cable for it, the mUSB will work.

Only an idiot truly takes the words at face value. I have 'unlimited' through Gmai practically because when will you ever use that much? My company is cloud based and our customers have "unlimited" because we just add more racks or compress and store archive data as time goes on, they have NO limit.

It's not bullshit, it's just idiotic to think that "unlimited" means you'll have billions of terabytes at your disposal. "Unlimited" in the cloud space is that we provide what you need when you need it, nothing more.

I have to say good for them. They know they made mistakes and want to correct them.
Still not touching that xbone with the kinnect requirement.

So right now for Xbox 360 you need a special proprietary cable to charge your controller right? You can insert 2x Eneloop batteries and use the proprietary cable to charge them, but there's no way to use your own solution. With Xbox One you can use a standard non proprietary cable to connect to the Micro USB port in the controller to charge your batteries... am I missing something?

it benefits them too! they eliminate a $10 cheaper wired SKU and have one less item in a product line to manufacture and store.

I would actually be pretty interested to see a chart on the original Xbox One configuration and features compared to what we are getting now.

I can't fathom someone willing to trust MS at this point with the Xbox.Geesh, just wait until they have a few million people with these in their homes so they can start going in dry on their user base again.

You do realize that the word unlimited means without limit. Meaning that I should be able to put 900 yottabytes of data on MS's servers which is greater than the NSA's data collection facility. It's just not possible and a stupid word to use in any advertisement. Just like wireless companies with "unlimited data" which is BS because they totally throttle you or otherwise limit you.

What are the chances they'll release a Kinect-less Bundle that's $100 cheaper?

I think basically zero chance of a bundle like that at launch. MS really seems to want Kinect to be an integral part of the XB1 and the thing that really differentiates them in the market. I do still think it's possible a Kinect-less bundle will in the future, but it really depends on exactly how much the $100 price difference with PS4 hurts them in the first six months to a year after the console launches.

Maybe it's the price to pay to not have another RRoD fiasco...is it even bigger then the 360 one though...? needed for Kinect...? not sure why the X1 needs one and the PS4 doesn't actually...but the size is no problem for me really...

The price too pay to not have another rrod is investing in better engineering not say well are guys arent capable so just tell them to put the power supply outside the box again. If sony can do it with the super slim ps3 which draws more heat then the ps4 then its either bad engineering or it was cheaper for them to not put it in the box

you can't charge AA batteries in either controller.

you can only charge Play & Charge Battery Packs.

oddly enough, the Xbox 360 Play & Charge battery packs are just 2xAA batteries in a proprietary shell with some special tiny circuit board.

hopefully the XB1 has a quality LiPo/LiIon battery included...

I was pretty baffled they didn't put the mic in the box in the first place, considering they led the charge with 360.
