For a cheap headset? What, were you only 98% IN before?

The headset is a big part of the experience. Having to spend $25 on launch to get a new one would basically mean one less game for me (I'm planning on picking 2).

It may not be all that, but the 360 one held up pretty well, and seems to be a better one than Sony's including. I'm sure I'll eventually buy a wireless one, but for launch, every penny counts.

Assuming USB hubs work on PS4, that is one solution.

it's a nitpicky thing

I do not want to see the wires constantly sticking out the front. Normally i will use the rear ports for charging cables, hubs or whatever and run it to a specific shelf on my av unit

All this stuff seems thrown together at the last minute. I hope the build quality of the console isn't as rushed as other announcements seem to be.

Great choice on the headset, but...

Eww_zps3dc9f3df.png

the worst thing about thaat is some people will just leave that on just like they do with TVs and refrigerators.

Do you guys think there will be some way that the X1 can play HD DVD's? Or is that done for. I have some still that I'd love tow watch on the new X1. Still have my add on for the 360, but that would be a nice little bonus to have.

I bet the the next big announcement will be 12gb of ram like the devkits. They already told us that the console can be used as devkits.

Just saying

its nit picking. I personally prefer this design choice since it eliminates a huge source of heat thus allowing a quieter console.

or you could put it in and still have a quiet console like the ps3 super slim but if it means that they couldnt find a way to keep it in and have a cool and quiet system then I too would prefer a brick.

Considering it uses a Blu-Ray drive and the HD-DVD format has been dead for years, I don't think so.

I think there needs to be some love for the hardcore hd-DVD fans like myself. I don't know why it is not supported. Great quality!

I hope Sony does a 180 too and put in a turnable PS logo on their console.

actually i think that glowing xbox symbol was a quiet 180 from ms. When they saw that the ps4 a blue led strip they decided something on the xbox one needs to glow too

I wish this would be the case. If both systems are using 3GB+ of memory for their OS, I wish it had 12GB to make up for it. 5GB should be plenty for games but still, the OS requirements seem excessive.

I understand. But like you said, it would at worst mean you pick up only 1 game instead of 2. You were still planning on getting the console. I just found your statement funny, as if this cheap headset actually solidified your purchase decision. No big deal, though. =)

I feel that Microsoft is a company that doesn't necessarily learn from its mistakes.

They have mentioned on more than one occasion that the design reflected a desire to keep the system cool and quiet. So perhaps they've made other mistakes, but I think they learned their lesson on the cooling part.

That format war was more interesting to watch sometimes than the console wars. I remember a last minute "betrayal" that pretty much sealed the deal..want to say from Paramount but not 100%

and they achieved this after how many years?

I still have my fat Ps3 and sometimes I think that sucker is going to fly away.

This is off topic, but I remember that also.

Shame nobody has picked up the tech for cheap and put it in current Blu-ray players. I have a few of those HD-DVD's lying around that I'd pay a reasonable amount for a player to view them with.

I like what they're doing with the xbone - It was a mess just a couple of weeks ago and they're trying to get it better in almost every aspect.

But still not buying one. Gold paywall and kinect are a no-no for me

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
That simplistic packaging box design is definitely sexy.

Eh... My original 360 headset that I had with my white system lasted nearly four years, but the one I bought to replace it after that in 2011 died after a few months of light use. Nice that they're still bundling it though, and that it's seemingly an upgrade compared to the original mic. The 25 cent earbud thing Sony has with the PS4 is probably the worst part of that system right now, which I suppose is a compliment almost.

Both bundled headsets look like crap. Good on MS for adding one, but with either console you probably want a new one if chatting in online play is something you do a lot.

Nope. It's funny how people think "devkits" when they only said debug units. Even places like IGN get debug consoles sometimes.

debug units =/= fully featured dev kits.

Also, due to the way consoles are designed, at this point the only increase in RAM they can do, is double it unless they want to change the whole setup altogether which it's too late for now. So yeah, no in between 12GB of RAM, either increase to 16GB or no increase at all.

Glad you all like headset. We’re not going to 12gb, just to be clear. Feeling great about game performance – stuff is looking killer.

Looks good so far. Glad they included the headset. Such a dumb idea to force people to use the kinect for game chat. Commands. Sure, but not game chat.

Still holding off on both X1, and PS4 for now. Leaning more PS4 for now, but that can change. Always hesitant on launch systems.

The playing without batteries if your controller is plugged in part sounds great. I would do that all the time with my 360 if I could.

Cool. I said last night that I was hoping the IGN tweet was teasing headset inclusion (even though I had my doubts it would happen), so I'm glad it worked out.

Why is the power supply outside again!! That thing totally had to make me move around stuff in my entertainment centre for the 360 and this one looks bigger.
