Papers, Please |OT| Glory to Arstotzka!

One of the things I love most about the finished game is the upgrades to the booth. I found myself thinking on like, day 2, "Man, I wish I had tabs so I could get through the rule book quicker." Lo and behold, it was an upgrade later on.

I have a question about day 17:
The EZIC guy comes and tells me that there's going to be an EZIC agent arriving that day, and then he hands me a decoder slip. But I feel like I never got handed anything that I was supposed to use that slip on. Did I miss it? Or did I miss something in a previous day?

There are on dots that line up with the outline of the stamping section of the passport. When you line it up on the right person's passport, a message appears. It's a pain in the ass for that day, because I pretty much ended up checking it on everyone before I denied them.

Ohhhh, okay. Thanks.

I've played this for a couple of hours today, and I'm absolutely loving it. I get so angry when I get one wrong, but I know it's my fault every time. Ingenious that the game is designed to get you angry at your self and not the game.

I hate it when I miss a fake ISS, but I've probably memorized a few countries already lol

Another question on Day 17:
Does denying the journalist change anything? I let him through the first time and I got hit with a "Denial reason" requirement.

What on earth does that 4th booth upgrade do? I haven't the slightest clue even after reading the rulebook to work out how to activate it.

This game was well worth selling a stupid dota 2 sword for.

Just cleared my first playthrough and got
a bad ending. Surprising to see that there's 20 different ones!
I'd heard the guys on the bombcast saying good things about the game and I gotta say I think it's pretty cool.

Spoilery stuff about player choices:
The moral ambiguity of your actions is dealt with brilliantly. In most games I always go full on pure good but in this game I got to a point where I was detaining people for almost any rason, letting people smuggle drugs in for pitiful amounts of money, and straight up murdering dudes with damn near zero incentive to do so. It's kind of embarassing how easily I was corrupted.

Mother-in-law has got to go!

Lol, I spent a few minutes looking at my end of day screen wondering if maybe it wouldn't be for the best if uncle boris takes a tumble down some steep stairs in a drunken haze.

Brilliant game. Mechanically surprisingly deep and engaging, and it's actually astonishing how well the gameplay bolsters and accents the themes of bureaucracy and the selfishness that kicks in as soon as someone is given authority over others. I mean, in order to keep my family alive I'm constantly tempted to screw over the people trying to enter the country solely to be more efficient. That's diabolical and amazing.

Goddamnit. I've been detained and my family has been sent away because I thought it was a great idea to forgo food and heat for a night just to spend ALL my money to move to a Class-7 apartment AGAIN, forgetting that when I run out of money I lose. FML!

As usual, catching up late. Watched the Giant Bomb Quick Look and then bought it. Haven't had a chance to play yet though. Looking forward to it.

Whoops didn't know there was an OT. Copy paste go!

Lost on the second day, but thankfully it saves before each day. This game is pretty clever and they can mess you up in ways you wouldn't expect. There's also actually a story as well that is really cleverly told. I've put in over an hour so far, but I don't know how much longer the game is. Definitely an interesting title.

The story actually has me interested. I wonder where all of it will lead.

What a fantastic game. I'm playing beta, but I'm curious how is the full game any different? Beta seems feature complete and I'm on Day 8 with no end in sight. Should I keep playing beta or will it end before the actual game ends and I have to play all over again?

The beta was just a couple of days.
Ah, OK. I got to day 8 at least.

I average about 10-11, sometimes up to 14-15 if I'm feeling lucky being careless.

Yup, that's about my summary as well. Just spent all of last night playing this awesome game. Got 2 endings... one bad, one somewhat ok...

This'll be quite an adventure to grab 'em all.

Goddamn.

That moment when Jorji assists you in getting forged passports, thereby justifying all the shit that you let slide for him.

Then that OTHER moment when, the very next day, he comes back to give you 40 big ones, just as you're on the verge of having no money for the forgeries.

This game man. This is one of the few times where I feel compelled to replay it to get all the other endings rather than looking on wiki's/youtube for them.

You sly bastard Lucas, dragging out that last *KACHUNK* for dramatic effect.

I got into debt because I ran up too many citations and ended up in jail. :(

Great game though. Spotting discrepancies is addictive and the gradually escalating complexity and twists that get thrown in as time goes on keep things interesting. I'm looking forward to future playthroughs.

yeah, beta ends after day 8

Just finished my first playthrough. Man, things got tense.
I was able to escape to Obristan on the day before my schedule audit, but only with my son and wife. I feel terrible leaving my niece, but the fines I racked up getting all these Obristan passports doomed me :(

I never let him slide, and he was still nice to me. He was always very understanding when I had to turn him away. I think I let him through like once, and it was later in the game when I became more lax.

Playstation version incoming?

Hello again @dukope. You’re awesome. I’m not. Forgive my slackness. Can we talk? Are we hooked up on Skype? shahid.k.ahmad

...Anyone beat the game and unlock this endless mode? I see no gameplay of it. I want to know how "endless" it is

A VITA version would be tremendous

Up to Day 8 and everyone is still holding it together. Some days though... glad I have a bit banked when a day gets cut short. Averaging 11~12 a day and so far able to keep going.
