Good news
gfwl is at least better than origin and uplay. But that's really just comparing different piles of crap to each other.
Thanks for the clarifications to the earlier list, I'll edit stuff in.
Non-GFWL games that do not appear to exist digitally on Steam or Amazon or GameStop
A Vampyre Story - not on Steam, retail-only on Amazon
Cubis Gold - Cubis Gold 2 is on Amazon, but not the original
Flight Simulator X - Amazon, retail-only, no digital
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - Amazon has it retail-only, no other digital outlets I can find
Zoo Tycoon 2 - Retail-only on Amazon
This may be your last chance to buy these games digitally.
Nothing, it's the store that's going down, not the service (yet)Fuck! I own the Colonies Edition. What now?
Purchasable on Steam, but requires GFWL for activation, so will die if GFWL dies and are not patched
Hopefully we see Steam versions of those games, along with the Halo Trilogy release.
I don't see how it ever could have been something cool. They were trying to charge for multiplayer on day one.
I'll take it! This is happening, all of my eggs are in one basket for this one.
AA/AC are also getting their mac versions added to the store as well with full Steamplay.
Also, GFWL is the only remaining place to buy DLC for Batman AC separately. Anyone who bought the base game before the GOTY edition and wants the DLC will have no choice but to buy the whole game again.
Dark Souls PC better not break from this.
If they did they'd probably have a boycott/pirate Dark Souls II petition on their hands from outraged PC fans.Dark Souls PC better not break from this.
In what ways is GFWL superior to Origin and Uplay if your primary concern is playing PC games? Show your work.
Do we know what the exchange rate for allards will be? I've still got 500 points left on my account to spend. It'd be pretty sweet if I can buy a copy of Minerva's Den on GFWL and then register that serial on Steam before the service goes down but I suspect one will come first.
I wonder if Codemasters will do anything about the Dirt 3 DLC.

nooo, how will I buy Viva Piñata now?!
Does that mean I can buy Gears of War in Steam at some point?
The DLC implementation for Mass Effect 1-3/ Dragon Age 1/2 is beyond terrible.
So I have almost 580 points on my account. Do the points disappear from my account as well or just the GFW store closing?

I prefer it since I can use my existing xbox live ID, Origin and Uplay require yet another account to maintain. Granted if you have never had a xbox or live ID that isn't a real benefit. I also trust Microsoft to maintain security for my account of Ubi or EA.
I guess we're just lucky that GFWL is so unpopular no one has attempted to use it as an attack vector.

:lol Why? Dark Souls 2 is using Steamworks
I wonder if MS is doing anything to aid publishers to move their titles from GFWL. If they killed the platform, instantly rendering many games unplayable without some kind of plan to lessen the impact on publishers, I'd imagine it would be publisher relationship nightmare.
When was that confirmed?
:lol Why? Dark Souls 2 is using Steamworks Oh noes, my first one doesn't work anymore? *yawn and play DS2 on Steam?*
I think the harm is mitigated by the fact that titles that are not selling anymore are typically routinely abandoned by publishers (IE not updated for Windows 7 support, etc), while titles that are still selling typically would recoup the costs of paying an outsourcing company or striking up a team to work to patch out the GFWL and ideally in Steamworks.
When they dropped GfWL off the page? There's no mention of GfWL anywhere on DS2. Plus they already know people hate the GfWL implementation in DS1 and are working PC first over the console versions right now.
From got the point from PC people. I'd be honestly surprised if they're still using GfWL for the matchmaking code.
I think a recent example would be Trenched. It's locked down by contractual obligations to GFWL. Double Fine would love to put it on Steamworks I bet, and probably see some sales to make it worth their while. The reasonable thing would be for Microsoft to cut the game free.
Of course it won't have GFWL, but that doesn't necessarily mean Steamworks (even though it's very likely).
I'm not getting my hopes up until it's official.

I would buy this, though I have already beaten it on ps3.Namco should also patch in Steamworks support for the first Dark Souls.
I was merely suggestingNo it doesn't mean that.
There are actually two versions of Lost Planet 1
One is Steamworks, and the other is GFWL.
I didn't know. Which one is Steamworks?
Dark Souls II is looking amazing from a PC standpoint.
PC lead platform, dropping GFWL in favor of Steamworks, dedicated servers. My card monies are ready for day 1.
