My favorite and best pick up of the year. Now to start studying for CCNA Security, and eventually CCNA Wireless.

Been a busy month or so for me. Got a job and moved to a new city. New apartment, and new stuff to put in it.

Furniture!

Can't wait for next gen to hit so i can get some more stuff under the tv.
The screen is absolutely fantastic.

Was planning on just getting a 20 gal with some guppies

Celibacy chamber

Kitchen with food stuffs!

New bike! Need to get a lock for it

Where the baggage happens.
Parents got me the Nausica comics for my bday!

Put it this way - if you can live without Duck Hunt and other lightgun games, hurl all your heavy Trinatrons out the nearest window and get a Framemeister. It's the best retro gaming related purchase I've made in years. The ease of having everything output via HDMI whilst accommodating a variety of input connections and a host of options to tweak the picture in nearly every imaginable way makes it worth the considerable price of admission in my opinion. It's also, for better or worse, re-ignited my passion for retro gaming and collecting which had cooled in recent years. I can't wait to get my hands on the RGB 21 pin cables I have coming in the post for a selection of consoles. Highly recommended.

Check out this video by site member Yakumo to see the Framemeister in action and put through it's paces. I bought mine from him, here's a link to his sale post on the Buy/Sell thread. Top bloke.
How much does one of those cost?

How much does one of those cost?

¥38,640 is the RRP, paid ¥39,800 which included EMS delivery from site member Yakumo who has them available for sale here.

In Pick-Up news, my brothers 80GB fat PS3 finally bit the dust. Being the awesome older sibling that I am, I gave him my current 320GB slim and picked this brand new unit up that a friend who is a manager at a games store has had squirrelled away since last year for me.

Fuck the Super Slim.

Dragon's Crown Vita + Art book, Ridge Racer 3D

I'm curating a small collection of Japanese editions of my favourite PlayStation titles. Starting it off with Gran Turismo, Wipeout XL (AKA Wipeout 2097) and Ridge Racer Type 4 (Sealed):

HTC One. A big change, this one - my first non-Apple phone since the 3GS. It's early days but I really enjoy using it.

The screen is lustful, especially for media playback. Pictures don't do it justice, it has to be seen in the flesh! (The speakers are fantastic too - I'm often weary of gimmicky add-ons to devices, but I've got to hand it to the Beats Audio, it sounds brilliant).

And a UAG case to save the phone from my general clumsiness.

Welcome to the club!

Gratz, I never took the test even though I took the course in high school did manage to pass the compTIA A+ exam however

Thanks! I really can't express how happy it makes me to know I achieved this. A year ago, I didn't think that I had it in me.

You skipped all the Comptia stuff?

Honestly, I didn't even consider doing Comptia. Less than two years ago, I was a 31 year old with a dead end job and no IT experience. I enrolled at my local community college and took some Cisco classes. With those classes under my belt, I set the goal to be CCNA certified "one day". With on semester to go, I decided to finally go for it over the summer. I wanted to get the CCNA more than I want my college degree. It feels great to be certified before I even graduated. I put resumes out last weekend, and I already had three responses. Certs really do help!

I'm sorry if this comes off as bragging...My advice to anyone going for CCNA; if I can do it, (a guy with no IT background), then with the dedication and discipline to study, anyone can do it.

My photobucket account hit its bandwidth limit late last month so I've had to wait a while to post this stuff, haha.

These first 3 pics are from the last week of July:

1307-Games5_zps04743656.jpg

-Got Star Ocean cheap on eBay and the Wii U games for $19.99 each on Amazon.

1307-Misc3_zps073bf9ab.jpg

-I grabbed the eShop cards & Fire Emblem to take advantage of the eShop promos (adding $100 to the Wii U to get $10 & registering FE & SMTIV to get $30) and got Atlantis & the book from Amazon.

1307-Books2_zps5565ebaa.jpg

-I recently learned that the Twisted ToyFare Theatre series continued after the 5 volumes I picked up back in college and managed to track these down on a random comic website - I still need to find Volumes 9 & 10!

August pickups:

1308-Games2_zpsc0ce9912.jpg

1308-Games3_zps099e0b0d.jpg

-I picked up Mario & Luigi at launch (it's fantastic!!) and the rest was cheap on Amazon.
I'd been looking for Irritating Stick for YEARS and I found a CIB copy for $4 with Prime shipping! :D

1308-Blu1_zps7e57cddf.jpg

-I got the remaining 2 movies I needed from the previous wave of Disney Blus, Oliver & Company (my favorite Disney movie!), and the Muppet Movie from Amazon.
I got the 4 Disney Movie Club Exclusive sets from eBay all new & sealed (plus they were cheaper than they are for DMC members!).

I also finally got a new media shelf for my living room to hold all my modern games and Blu-Rays. :D

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?

Decided to go in hard on GBA retro stuff to go with the games I bought when it was current:

Picked up an original model GBA with an SP backlight modded into it, because I far prefer it to the SP layout. Now I just need to get some decent rechargables, since the ones I'm using are probably as old as the GBA and only last about 5 hours.

After waiting 9 years, I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of Zero Mission. Playing through it now, it was definitely worth the wait.

Unrelated to GBA:

Finally getting round to upgrading from my S2, what with the battery not even lasting through the day now. Decided to buy it outright rather than go down the contract route, now to find a decent sim only deal.

Back from Japan with a ton of stuff.

Neo Geo MVS carts for those that don't read Japanese:

  • Magical Drop 2
  • Baseball Stars 2
  • Neo Turf Masters
  • Metal Slug 3
  • Metal Slug X
  • KoF 98
  • World Heroes 2 JET
  • Sam Show 3
  • Cyber Lip
  • Puzzle Bobble
  • Power Spikes II
  • Shock Troopers 2

A new monitor chassis came while I was gone as well, hope to get the Neo Geo cab up and running tomorrow.

Picked up two Vitas in each blue and red. One of each for me and one of each to sell.

The XRGB Framemeister is worth it's weight in gold. Thing makes games look fucking awesome on my 55" lcd now. N64 via even S-Video looks GREAT!
