What are the best Japanese PS1 games that never made it to the US?

(and are not available on PSN)
So I just bought a Japanese PS1 specifically to play Densha de Go, and it also came with a free Un Jammer Lammy as a bonus.

What are some of the interesting Japanese games that never made it over here?

Specifically looking for quick pick up and play arcade type titles.

Also if anyone has any info on the compatibility of the various Densha de Go controllers that would be awesome since its kindof a pain to play with the normal pad

Even if i love Saturn as a 2D machine PS has a lot of awesome fighting/puzzle/platform games only available in Japan and is a real shame.

Well, I guess my PSX import want list is about to get bigger.

The Japanese version of Lammy is awesome to have since there were cuts in the US version. vib-ribbon is worth it, I really love iS: Internal Section, Gunners Heaven is fun... there's a lot of stuff. Unfortunately a lot of the cool stuff is expensive as hell.

Actually, get the sequel to Intelligent Qube, IQ Final. It's cheap. There's a Devil Dice sequel too that never made it over here, Xi Jumbo.

Pepsiman never came stateside, and while theres not much to it mechanically (its kind of akin to the Unleashed/Generations sonic stages) the novelty more than carries the game.

just surprised it's GnG themed. :3

although, I'm looking into the Twilight Syndrome series (apparently suda51 games) they look amazing, unfortunately no translations? (or at least I haven't found any yet)

Sadly no, a lot of awesome games on PS don't have any fantranslation. Mizzurna Falls and Aconcagua screams for this.

Yes! Winning Eleven (J) was always better than it's "International" counterparts, something about the dribbling and shooting didn't ever feel right to me, this also applies to the superior japanese version of International Superstar Soccer Deluxe for the SNES. Japanese versions of Winning Eleven 6, 6 Final Evolution and Winning Eleven 7 will always hold a special place in my heart :3

I was recently going through PS1 classics on the Japanese PSN store and was thinking about the same thing.

Any good survival horror or "dark" (i.e. From Software or SMT) RPGs?

I was never a big Twinbee fan, so that is left off intentionally.

edit: Did the OP mean not on US PSN or on PSN at all? Several of the games mentioned, e.g. Gunners Heaven and Zanac X Zanac are on PSN somewhere and therefore playable on a US PS3.

My uncle bought it to me from japan when i was a kid...
I sucked so badly..
Playing a game in japanese when you are like 12 y/o didn't help... (Or maybe 11)
Enjoyed but no english manual, no english tutorial and the internet was different at that time..
Sigh...

I'm just discovering an alternate universe of awesome playstation games! my mind's so blown right now... (I thought mizzurna falls looked interesting, what was it? I guess horror adventure?)

It's an investigation/horror game yet it has the Shenmue-style "normal day" living... before Shenmue.

And yes, Panzer Bandit is fucking awesome, is not Guardian Heroes but it has its charm.

The SRW(non-OG) series as well as the Gundam G Generation games are also fantastic, but you kinda need to be invested in those franchises to get the most out of those games
