I haven't been following this game, can someone explain the subtitle of this thread and the original? Are the errors due to unexpected traffic or just crappy servers?

And ultimately: how does it play?

Servers are overloaded.

Game is ok (based on getting to lvl 11)

I love XII and ARR reminds me of XII... and IV, VI, VII and IX.

Agreed. Also until the server log in issues get fixed, as a PC + gamepad user...I havent had to do much aside from keep pressing A until I get a queue line or log in immediately.

EDIT: Due to unexpected traffic. They didnt expect this many people to want to play, coming off 1.0...guess they thought it would gradually increase. Guess they forgot that technically its still a new Final Fantasy, and those usually draw alot of people regardless.

I'm surprised there were more people willing to give this a second chance than there were people who gave it a 1st chance.

There is a tiny bar next to the left of each PT member that gives an estimate to where every member stands on the hate table.

EDIT: Also to the left of the mob list panel is an icon that changes colors. It indicates how likely you are to pull hate on that mob. Green = safe, yellow = elevated, orange = high risk, red = you're getting hit.

Huh. I never see that as a healer. I do see the icon on the mob list though.

From what I've seen so far about that game, it reminds me somehow of Final Fantasy XII. Shame that it seems to be online-only, as I would love that one to play single player, just like XII.

There are a lot of solo contents though, so if you don't mind meeting people and doing multiplayer stuff every once in a while, I think it's great. Especially since we're on gaf and you could probably play with gaffers for those.

There are a lot of MMO-like quests though interms of progression.

Interesting, I guess it's a tank only thing. Well at least there's still the mob list icons.

EDIT: According to my friend it's a UI toggle for the enmity bars. You have to turn them on.

I have 9 days left for service.

I just upgraded to digital collectors.

When should I expect my goods to be delivered? In 9 days?

Do you receive via mog delivery?

The good news is, the game is actually pretty well made this time around. Adds fuel to the fire when cant log in though.

Those bars indicate relative threat levels for whichever enemy you have targeted, which isn't going to happen often as a healer, I wouldn't think.

FF/SE fans and FFXI players.

A lot of xi people wants it to be good. I know some that did 1.0 and quit and never came back, but I also know a few that didn't jump on 1.0 and ended up doing 2.0.

I think you have to target the enemy in order to see how you rank in his hate listing. As a healer, you never/rarely target enemies, so not seeing the enmity listing is not unusual.

I had no idea that's what that was for!!!

I just used the mob list with the colors. And try to heal only when the tank has pulled enough hate. But thanks for the hot tip.

Ah yeah, that makes the most sense. Duh.

Damn, was hoping for "the night is dark and full of errors", Fantastic OP otherwise though, love that database.

Actually, current Automatons are basically what SCH pets are though you need to tell the AI to prioritize stuff. They took away the global timer for spells on Automatons and they basically cast like crazy as a result. It's not quite as tight as the Fairy AI but in healing power it's equivalent or better nowadays.

Oh that is so good to hear, I quit mid WotG. I guess their reputation was just too far buried to dig back up.

And SCH's have sexy AF and WoW Disc Priest-like shielding which is waaaay more efficient and practical than WHM Stoneskin, so there is always that.

The more i think about it the more I understand why I like the class. I see some of the best parts about FF11 SMN and PUP as standard mixed in with Necromancer/Warlock DOT type options for the DPS specs, which were some of my favorite things from previous MMOs. Even better, they seem to be working well.

I'm hoping after they touch up practical A.I. they buff Eos a bit. I was amazed when i found out Selene can keep up at least one of her buffs at all times after 40. Not only does Selene heal like crazy but she comes with free FFXI-esque Bard songs with 50% uptime on one and 50% on the other that she's smart enough to use back to back so their is no buff "deadzone". how can someone really say no? Whispering Dawn would be wonderful if Eos would wait til it mattered but she likes to spam it on CD so it usually doesn't, and her buff spells have like double the CD of Selene's.

Question about PS3 and keyboard setup.

Does ffxiv have a default keyboard setup exactly like ffxi? IIRC you could play ffxi solely on keyboard without a mouse, using numpad for movement etc. and macros for skills. Using the controller for gameplay and a keyboard for chat seems overly awkward.

Ugh they really need to do a better job for leveling secondary+ classes. I feel like there's no direction. Finished my hunting log and still have another level or two before I unlock the next part.

Odin appeared on ragnarok few minutes ago, the sky was dark-blue with little lights from the ground. Woah. Couldn't find it though... :/

Is GAF in Ultros still full? Couldn't find my old post in OT1 so I'll just ask here.

Would like to know this too.

I'm quite surprised by the ping to Ultros from the UK seems like there is no latency at all.

Shit is bad when getting 1017 errors feels like progress.

Earlier I was cheering when I finally could get a 1017 error I was getting a bunch of different ones. Getting 1017 is usually the last obstacle before getting in. I had two 90k errors when using teleport and one the during lvl 5 gld quest instance.
