It's gonna be interesting to see what they do with the Pokemon roster. I'm expecting at least

Pikachu
Jigglypuff
Mewtwo (with Mega final smash)
Lucario (^)
Pokemon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard)

man there is way too much gen 1 representation. I wish they would use Pkmn Trainer as a way around it but it's just more gen 1 Mons. I know it's the most famous and iconic and all, but it's so incredibly lopsided it isn't even funny.

Ah well.

Hm, it might be interesting if they could use pkmn trainer to represent multiple gens. Instead of picking a gen and just having it's starters, they could mix it up and have a pokemon each from gens 2-4.

I still like the idea of the classic starters but this could add some fresh faces to the mix.

If they plan on bringing back Pokemon Trainer, I'd like it to be Gen 2-based (Totodile, Bayleef, Typhlosion, Kris as the trainer maybe?). A potential moveset shake-up and a show of progress of the namesake's series.

I think Pokemon Trainer should have starters from gen 2, 3, and 5.

Oshawott for 5
Bayleef for 2
and Blaziken for 3 (hell give that a mega final smash too)

This way, with the Mega forms, every generation has some type of representation.

But I'm 100% positive it'll just be the gen 1 starters again.

They did not say that. All that has been said regarding DLC is that it's not currently being worried about - which makes sense and is good, considering they're still making the game. Nintendo would be insane to neglect the DLC potential for this game, so I can't see them not, at the very least, adding past stages as DLC.

I have a feeling we'll see PT cut, at least as we know him now. It would make too much sense to replace his Pokemon with Gen VI 'mons to give some "real" Gen VI representation.

Unless they start hyping up a Mega Charizard or something, which is possible.

Yeah, I was thinking something like Bayleef, Blaziken, and Piplup. Representing both different evolutions, types, and gens.

Or that too, because Lucario is already gen 4.

But I am also expecting the first 3 if PT does return, just because they are already established.

I guess they could just use the most recent one... something like that is kinda minor when all they're gonna do is stand in the background and shout names.

It does seem like a nitpicky kind of thing though, now that you mention it.

I've always pushed for the idea of a new set of Pokémon for the Pokémon Trainer. Personally, I've loved to see R/S/E get some representation since they missed out on Brawl.

They really want the younger kids to lose their minds? Pokemon trainer with blaziken as one of his 'mons. other two don't even matter.

If that strange cgi pokemon teaser really was for a fighting game headlined by lucario and blaziken the wiiu is gonna have its system seller.

It is lol, but it's just something I just thought about. I would love starters from Gens 2-4 being used as characters.

Well that's the important thing right there. It would be a shame if they put new Pokemon just because they're new. I was fine with Lucario's spot in Brawl because he was super popular and he fit well as a Smash character. Has there been any other Pokemon like that recently?

I think at the least Pokemon Trainer will have different Pokemon, which means Charizard gets the axe ; _ ;

Pika, Mewtwo, Lucario and Jiggs should all be there.

And I'm fine with those four!

I just think that Pokemon Trainer should represent more than just gen 1, especially since that has the most reps already. If the playable lineup of Pokémon consists of six gen 1 Pokémon and only one Pokémon from a different gen... it just feels super one sided. I'd rather Pokémon Trainer be used as a Trojan horse to have more Pokémon from unrepped gens than another way to rep gen 1.

I hope we get Yoshi or a new look at Mega Man stage today.
I've been trying to predict this for like a week lol, I'll get it sometime!

Also, I'd gladly have the Pokemon trainer change his team. I love playing as Squirtle, but with 6 Pokemon Generations, it's sad to see only 1 really represented.

I'd like them to have more than one Pokemon Trainer. The original can be called Kanto Trainer (or Red for short), and then we can get another Generation's trainer, or a League Champion as the other Trainer.
