Sony Promising The News We've "Been Waiting For" Tomorrow

Every third post is like "Context shows that this comment was directed at Japanese gamer. We can be pretty sure it's just a release date for Japan."

Every other post is like "Team Ico is making eleven Crash Bandicoot X Shenmue games, and they're all PS4-exclusive launch titles confirmed!!!1!!!!11!1"

Sony are set to reveal something big tomorrow morning at their pre-TGS conference, something that they’re describing as “the news you’ve been waiting for” along with the above image that they shared through their Chinese social media service.

They go on to say that this new information will be “beyond your expectation” and promise a good dose of “surprise”. More than just a Japanese PS4 release date, then. The full statement reads:

“Finally, it’s coming to #TGS2013. Like before, SCEJA will have a press conference before the game show. I could only say: The news you’ve been waiting for, and the information beyond your expectation will both be revealed officially. So tomorrow, please do watch the live-stream and keep follow @PlayStation !Promise to bring surprise to you!”

Oddly, the post has now been deleted, which is strange as it doesn’t give too much away. At least GAF member Gskyace was able to find it and translate it first.

You can watch the show live at 7am UK time here, so get to bed early tonight and head into work a bit later if you really want. If not, we’ll have all the news as it happens for you to digest on your way to work.

I Don't see why people are commenting that it's exciting or surprising for the asian market. While a release date would be something that territory is waiting for, it can hardly go beyond your expectations or being something will be a big surprise to anyone. It's not like the PS4 will look/function different in that territory. It has been unveiled to the world already, anyone with an internet and interest has seen the PS4.

So, as I stated, Sony is blowing smoke a little here if NOTHING new is shown tomorrow, and someone should give them a slight backhand for generating unnecessary hype.

They deleted the tweet shortly thereafter. You should give yourself a backhand if you're getting hyped over nothing.

On a more serious note, I think the news most of us are really waiting for about the PS4 are details about the UI/OS, whether or not PS1 and PS2 purchases from PSN carry over, whether the box can play PS1 or PS2 discs, more details on the general plan for Gaikai, how much digital games will cost next gen (we know almost nothing at this point), what's the plan for the new camera (beyond the Playroom demo) ... Stuff like that. We need details on this stuff. We're about 65 days out from launch.

Why do you do this to yourselves? It's so obviously the release date and price. Given the history of the rest of the world getting shafted on price, it's probably just a decent RRP like most places have received so far. I know the price for NZ was certainly something out of a dream.

We know it's about the release date but i don't think they will devote the whole press conference to only a release date.

Meh if this was actually going to be big news, they would've hyped the press conference outside of some Chinese site (is China even a relevant market for the PlayStation?).

So the big news will be the Japanese launch date and the thing you've all been waiting for is a Chinese release date not too far in next year or something.

The whole allure of The Last Guardian is that Ueda and his team are behind it. The same guys that made Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I even remember reading somewhere that Sony Santa Monica are lending a hand too.

And above all else a Western developer can't make a Japanese game.
