The Wonderful 101 |OT| Diplomacy has failed

How long does it take to beat it? I'm really busy with my final semester in college, so I guess I should have pointed that out. The reason I brought up the Sept 15th date as being weird, is because it is so close to GTA V.

Then again, not everyone that owns a Wii U is going to be getting that game.

I don't have the game until tomorrow but from what I have seen it has been taking people between 11 and 16 hours for one play-through. People with the game feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Replaying Bayonetta shows how different the two are, and how overall more diverse The Wonderful 101 is.

The game said 17 hours for me on Normal, the Activity Log said 32.

Anyone else ran into unlocking problems with the bottle caps? I've done every secret mission, completed every Kahkoo regah's and plundered all of the toilet treasures but there still locked. I'll list how many stars are showing for each bottle cap as well (it tells you out of 3 stars how close you are to unlocking a certain bottle cap) , the stars seem to be messed up as only 1 star is showing for You Can Hole Up, and 3 stars are showing for Geathjerk Slayer.

Operation Annihilation (Clear all secret missions) 3 Stars showing
You Can Hole Up But You Can't Hide (Find all the Kahkoo-regah) 1 Star showing
Geath May Cry (Complete half the Kahkoo-regah) 2 Stars showing
Geathjeak Slayer ( Complete all the Kahkoo-regah) 3 Stars showing
Treasure Maniac (Plunder all of the toilet treasures) 3 Stars showing

These are the one's that should be unlocked but for whatever reason they haven't been, anyone else ran into similar problems because I am getting really frustrated after just doing a long run through normal mode searching every single corner for secret missions, Kahkoo-regah's and toilets. It's possible I may have missed one or a couple of toilers, but don't ask me if i'm sure I found/beat every secret mission and Kahkoo-regah portals as I am 100% certain I have beaten them all.

And I made sure to do this all on one difficulty (normal) as I was afraid there might be some stacking issues with the requirements if I were to switch between difficulty modes

Naw Dawg, you got it all wrong. It goes like this:

7:30am - Wake up, shower, brush teeth
8:00am - Purchase TW101 from Target
8:10am - Boot up the game and check out the packaging
8:15am - Bask in the glory/frustration of TW101
11:55am - Make something to eat
12:00pm - Bears game!
3:30pm - Experience elation or disappointment depending on outcome of game/go to bathroom/eat a snack
3:35pm - Bask in the glory/frustration of TW101
6:30pm - Eat dinner
7:00pm - Bask in the glory/frustration of TW101
9:00pm - Yoga/Meditation
10:00pm - Bathroom, brush teeth
10:30pm - Sleep

That's about nine hours of TW101. Next day: Short work day in the AM, Play TW101 until completion in the PM :)

I have to catch up on Breaking Bad... I have only seen the first two seasons.
Holy shit are you stalking me? (or are me from the future)

That's exactly what i'm doing tomorrow, down to the right team and everything.

Bayonetta: Climax Edition on the eShop needs to happen.
Bayonetta -> Wonderful 101 -> Bayonetta 2 Demo -> X Extended Trailer -> Bayonetta 2

Not bad at all. I'll just get it, and beat it first, and delay GTA V by a couple days if I have to. Thanks for the info.

Some of you guys will be soooo disappointed when the game kicks your asses across the room for the first hour or so, haha.

Or get it and beat it before GTA V comes out. You have plenty of time. You could also delay playing GTA V by a couple of days since you intend to play it for a month or whatever anyways.
Plenty of time? Not really. It's a pretty lengthy game. I logged 22 hours in the activity log by the end. The last mission
9-C
is two hours by itself. And you wanna do that over two days? Good luck.

I'm so glad I got this early at PAX. Downside - no Miiverse.

Does anyone knows if platinum medals stack up?

I mean for example if there's a bottlecap achievement that requires all Platinum medals for them to actually count as "gotten" do you have to Pure Platinum a whole operation at once, or once you Pure Platinum a mission inside an operation it counts towards the achievement even if you didn't manage to Pure platinum other missions within the same Operation?

You need to complete each Kahkoo-regah and secret missions in Normal AND Hard and maybe the extra difficulty after. It's the same as in Bayonetta with Alfheim portals, some of the challenges in Hard can get pretty demanding.

That is a Unite Gun Skill. Draw a Square to activate it. It is cool to drive it around and shoot your team members. Seriously powerful too! :D

are you sure? when i draw a square i only get the small rocket launcher vehicle, not that tank shown in the video.

So, do I download this tonight at 9 pm, or do I wait for tomorrow to get a boxed copy with that awesome boxart? Hmmmmm. Tough decision. Can't believe this game is finally coming.

Oh my... I tried one of the later Kahkoo-regah in hard once and I was so close to throwing my controller at the wall after the amount of attempts I had at it, this is going to be one hellish task. Thanks for clearing things up though, was getting really worried my save might have got bugged with them bottle caps still locked.

I think I'm going to restart the game on easy. I just have no fun with it on normal, like at all. It's strange, but I simply don't enjoy the challenge in this game, it just doesnt click with me.... but I freaking love the presentation to death... maybe I'll sell it and just watch a Youtube playthrough sigh.

What is the download size for this? I want to get it digitally.

From the OP:

So basically 10GB give or take.

No midnight releases say whatttt.

Looking forward to grabbing this in the morning, although I doubt I'll be able to finish it before GTAV. Then again my Sunday/Monday is clear so we will see.

Is it as bad as Shin Megami Tensei IV? That game was brutal the first 4-6 hours. I was able to get through that.

EDIT: Okay, so it's more so getting used to the controls?

Dunno, never played an SMT game.

It's mostly the controls, but also the behavior of the enemies and your team, and the way you get around in the world and interact with it.

Learning to play is one thing, learning to play well enough to enjoy it is another.

I never thought I'd say this pre-Bayonetta, but I agree. And further to that, imo it's bigger, better, and more fun than Bayo is. And that's me as someone who considered Bayo as pretty much the apex of the action genre. I don't know how this has happened, but it has.

W101, the ultimate action game.

Yeah. To be honest it only took me 2 playthroughs of the demo (so around 30 minutes) for that to happen. Considering the game is easily 15 hours long, spending half an hour learning how to play isn't that bad.

TW101 has better bossfights so it's better by default in my books haha. The story is also better (story isn't really important in action games but it's still nice to have a good one).
I also tend to prefer games that have a limited amount of combos but where all the attacks have their own purpose, rather than games with a shitton of combos with lots of overlap, so I guess that also play a role in why I prefer TW101.

Same happened to me at first

..Then it suddenly clicked.

Game went from original but flawed to totally amazing

The depth and feeling when you actually understand what happens and are in full control is unrivaled.
Never thought I would say this, but it is an even better game than Bayonetta, my previous favorite action game.

It is way more hardcore and demanding than bayonetta though but SO worth it to learn.

Between this and pikmin 3 WiiU is totally worth it Imo

I love, Bayo. But TW101 kind of took the spot Bayonetta occupied before it. Maybe because of the variety and how awesome everything is, characters included. As you said, I don't know how this has happened, but it has.

Now I'll wait for Bayonetta 2 to challenge TW101.

It's a bit sad that the only contenders are games made by platinum though... Other devs need to step their game up. Or go back to making awesome action games (I'm looking at you capcpcom).

I've watched all of Saur's videos about the game, I've watched a few streams, and I've been playing the demo for the past few hours today. I am so fucking ready for this game tomorrow morning. The wait is killing meeee.

There is a reason why I support Platinum and will continue to do so no matter the platform. :)

Torn on digital vs physical. Pikmin 3 took so long to download for me that i might as well have bought it physical the next day.
