Bleach 549

Omaedas moments were dull (mainly his zanpaktou is kind of boring) so couldnt really care much for the fight. The stern ritter's personality also doesnt make things interesting as tying things into Soi Fon as it just became quite a lot of txt.

Bazz-B battlefield is most interesting. Quincy Vollsterndich incoming?

That´s a last resort move. I think they will use their bankai against them first.

Alright color page. Pretty interesting start so far with both the assistant student teacher trying to help a student get through his ordeal with the bullies, and then he himself having to try to find someway to cope with one of the other teachers at the school who is essentially bullying him too and even threatening to ruin his career, unfortunately, a reminder of the tragic and unfair world we live in.

I am currently reading Assassin's Creed: Black Flag manga.
I'll let ya know how the first issue is like...

EDIT: Yeah so initial impressions:
Eh not much to judge from the first issue, they do the whole 'relive your ancestor's life' like in the past AC games, and as per Japan standard, the main character/decendant happens to be a bishi =V

If only he could be the main character in the real games (sorry Desmond
and Shaun Hastings
. Really good design.

Anyway makes me want to preorder the game but, holding out since AC games always go on sale fast. Still need to play III anyway.

Bleach

I find it hilarious that Hitsugaya preached Luppi about not turning his back on his enemies and make sure that they are dead, yet he does the same with Buzz B.

welp let's get this awful week over with

Naruto

There were so many things wrong with this chapter, I don't even know where to begin.

Dumbest part tied with Orochimaru showing up ("o hai man cynical as ever!") and Karin's continued deterioration as a character. Bonus points if Shikamaru actually dies.

Bleach

The robo-Quincy is kind of cool, I guess. Probably the only Quincy design I'm actually intrigued by.

In general, though, yawn.

Naruto 647

Karin continues to disgust me. Worst character in this manga.

Doubt Shikamaru is really going to die.

Sasuke not giving in and encouraging Naruto was cool. Naruto showing his emotions to everyone was neat.

Bleach 549

Wait, they actually thought they won?

lol, they deserve that imminent beatdown.

And the little girl better be okay.

Bleach

[UWOOOOOOOH-face *intense hatching*].. Got old like forever ago. I swear this face manages to make its way into every chapter now.

Narutu

I actually liked this chapter. Didn't know that Susanoo could go mobile.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Random aside: Wind Waker HD is a thing I want to own, but the Wii U is not.

Naruto

Naruto's HoYay for Sasuke becomes public.

Bleach

Awful. Felt like 5 pages.

Naruto

Good, a timer's been set in this battle. That only means 50 more chapters left in the fight!

That's only a timer until they have to beat Obito. They have that to deal with Madara, Sasuke and Orochimaru.

Hyōryū Kyōshitsu - Vol. 5-7
Join the church of the cyclops!

Sometimes, I feel like this manga is dragging. It's weird. This is a classic, and I love Horror manga, but I'm not completely compelled to read this. It doesn't feel like true Horror. It feels like Lord of the Flies in Hell. Volume 7 was probably my favorite so far, and I'm hoping that the other part of the school will make its comeback.

Bleach

I read this interesting post on OMF by Milareppa. All credit goes to her

Transitional chapter. The first part is an obvious hope spot (the subordinates are bolstered by Hitsugaya's (too easy) defeat of Bazz-B, setting up their hopes being crushed further down the road) and, unfortunately, Soifon does turn up. I'm not surprised, I'm just not entirely thrilled, although it does bring with it some interesting information.

There are four interesting things in this chapter.

Interesting Observation 1: Reiatsu predicts blood kinship

Related individuals have types of reiatsu that overlap. BG9 seems to set the marker at 50%, but I'm more interested in the idea that reiatsu can be analysed to predict blood kinship. I wonder if this is setting us up for something as it has quite far reaching implications for a variety of characters that are indicated to have blood kinship throughout the story. It seems like a set up for something that'll occur or be revealed further down the road - either confirming blood kinships, revealing people aren't blood relatives or revealing people are blood relatives. I think we should file this information away and not forget about it.

Interesting Observation 2: Shunkou has forms and techniques

Shunkou has different variants, possibly determined by the nature of the person learning it. Soifon's is Wind. That does obviously beg the question of what Yoruichi's is (I don't want to go the obvious route and guess Earth given that her kidou lines were sinking into the earth but I'm fairly confident it won't be the same as Soifon's). There's also an acknowledgement of the role of resolve (yet again) in being able to achieve new levels of power: without the urgency generated by the loss of her bankai she wouldn't have felt the pressure required to push herself to the level she's reached. Soifon's comment 'Mukyuu Shunkou' - is that a technique, or is she simply confirming that her shunkou can function indefinitely throughout a fight as she claimed? Judging by the following page, it looks like a technique. If so, then not only is it implied that we have different forms of Shunkou but that these different forms also come with their own set of techniques.

In this sense we do see an advantage for Soifon not having used it in battle against the Espada: it's left the quincies with no intel on the completion of the form (ignoring the post-completion mastery she's gained since losing her bankai). So, we have a key indication that the quincy research does indeed have its limits, and that the quincies have not been able to find out everything there is to know about the shinigami.

So, at least we finally have some kind of sense of a difference between Soifon and BG9. Soifon boasts there isn't a time limit on how long she can use this power for (not the first time this has been important - she said the same thing to Yoruichi about her shikai). When dealing with the sense of 'robotic', fuel can be an issue (which is why, in sci-fi, there's sometimes the case where the big bad robot that can't be stopped suddenly runs out of power and shuts down). Of course, given that Uryuu introduced the idea of using reishi as 'quiver' for unlimited arrows (his Letzt Stil form versus Mayuri), Soifon's introduction of the concept of the 'non-stop' power does raise the issue of her opponent being a reishi-specialised creature (quincy) in a reishi world. This issue of 'non-stop' power may be relevant, not only for this, but because of what we've seen of BG9's gun, which looked like it was designed to keep firing lots of bullets (bullets or modified 'arrows'?) for a 'longer' period of time (longer than real life, I'm thinking).

So, we have the character who's designed to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee against... something very physical. But that does seem to be a transition for Soifon: the hornet uses the wind, now she becomes it. And she gets a chapter title that would make a good album name... oh, look, it already is: Deep Purple's album 'Stormbringer', containing the song 'Stormbringer' (the first verse of which is basically what's happened in this chapter).

Interesting Observation 3: The 60 Million Yen Man?

BG9. Yes, he comes across as a bit robotic. I'm inclined to head in the 'Bionic Man' direction, however. We know that sort of thing is likely to be possible given Mayuri's comments to Szayel about replacing parts of his body, and also given that Hinamori needed to have replacement organs grown for her by the 12th division. However, he seems capable of accurate detection through walls, given how he was able to go through the wall to hit Mareyo on the other side. His abilities seem a little... actually they remind me of something I can't quite place. I'll have to think about that. Anyway, his helmet has been hit twice, very hard, in this chapter and at the end of the chapter, it's cracked. Whether we get to see his face eventually, only time will tell.

Both BG9 and Soifon admit they have slightly inaccurate perceptions of the other. BG9 thought Soifon's shunkou was incomplete but wasn't correct. Soifon commented on quincies supposedly being archers (echoing the question Ichigo asked Kirge) but indicating she's pleased to be wrong. Is she wrong just because BG9 starts off by spearing things and whipping out a big gun? If it's one of the first weapons he wants to use, it's not going to be his best ability.

Interesting Observation 4: Haschwalth lied to Kyouraku

Last because it's possibly the most significant right now. Bazz-B implies the initial clash was nothing more than a test of the opponents (shades of Soifon versus Ggio, really). The idea that they'd spend time testing the opponent (which also indicates why BG9 was so interested in Soifon's shunkou) contradicts Haschwalth's implication to Kyouraku that they've gone straight in for the kill. It indicates the quincies are still intent on gathering information about the shinigami and are willing to spend time doing that rather than trying to kill from the outset. So Haschwalth has not been entirely honest with Kyouraku. There's still more going on here than it seems.

No offense, but that just seems like dramatically overanalyzing a boring chapter.

God fucking DAMMIT I've been waiting to get my tablet back from repair to catch up on some MANGA, it came back "fully repaired" but still broken.. sent it in for repair again and they send it back saying its water damaged.

Why

Plus I didnt water damage it you cocksuckers, I dont care what colour the sticker is that fucker was dry.

Pretty much.

I mean, I don't get it. The entire chapter was people standing around trying to look cool and say how they used their Shonen Resolve to gain more strength, for the second straight chapter to boot.

A lot of her analysis and predictions were spot on for what´s going to happen in future chapters.

First time reading a story with a mysophobic character. The title makes sense close to the end but was shocked at who the psychiatrist ended up being. Curious what number 10 will be though maybe number nine hints at it in some way. That being said, am looking forward to how he gets through a few things, cant imagine how one lives with such a condition.

And this in bleach? One of the most unpredictablest mangas in history? Shit.

No really the big text above is exactly what AG said.

Naruto and Bleach were both boring this week, no comments except I don't believe Shikamaru is dying

Aunt Tits
Damn that first page made my eyes go big. the rest of the chapter was a snooze fest "Master of Love" fucking japanese teenagers. Learn how to talk to girls and finally lay one down without being a wimp.

Doesn't really mean it's not over done a little bit.

I feel like this is the sort of chapter we'd get if Kubo wasn't sure where this is supposed to be going, which shouldn't be the case otherwise what was the point of the break?

Taking away multiple characters top level powers was a pointless move if all of them are going to overcome them by using Natsu-like shonen resolve to just train their lesser powers to the same level of strength. Its not really clever; its actually predictable as hell.

It would have been way less predictable if the Captains all stopped being arrogant egolords and just used to the time to just train their entire squads to do teamwork/unison attacks since there's a lot less of the top-level Quincy guys than there are named shinigami. I honestly think mangaka and manga fans in general are far too fixated on 'fairly' winning fights.

Bleach

Nothing happened. It was obvious the enemies weren't dead because that's how Bleach rolls. Next chapter is them getting owned repeatedly until someone saves them as the cliffhanger.

Also nothing changed so there's no update to the Sternritter chart.

Naruto

I gotta admit, I laughed at the fact that the entire battlefield had to endure a lengthy Naruto flashback. And one induced by his Sasuke lust to boot.

Also Shikamaru "dying" pretty much guarantees that, in the end, Obito will be talk no jutsu'd into resurrecting everyone. Though Shikamaru's "death" explains why he suddenly became a hokage candidate a few chapters ago.

And they're drawing out the super hypnosis plot even though we all know its going to ultimately happen. Which means hypnosis land is probably where Naruto will talk no jutsu Obito. I don't believe Madara will succeed in taking Obito's place in the hypnosis since that actually would be a game over.

Toriko vol.13

Cool volume, we get to see how dangerous the Gourmet World is.
Overall it mostly is a transitional volume.

I agree 110%. Frankly I'm not seeing anything that would have taken a whole month to come up with.

Having said that anyone who actually expected the dynamics of this series to change was being foolish. It's just the same shit we had before the break. I'd have loved to see your second paragraph be the direction this went, but god knows there are enough characters to keep track of as is.

A lot of people's Bleach predictions are spot on. Its not a difficult manga to foresee.

The most noteworthy part of that analysis is her first sentence where she correctly points out that the purpose of the chapter was to make the shingami looks like victors only to reveal the truth at the end. But that's an obvious analysis since Kubo uses that technique once per fight (if not more). I'm pretty sure everyone who read that chapter knew Bazz-B wasn't down and that he was going to pull the "oh you thought you defeated me" line.

As for the rest of the analysis, while elaborate, its not very informative. It's paragraphs of text to explain a concept that she herself already summarized with the bolded lines. We know Reitsu reveals bloodlines because it happened in the chapter. It didn't need a paragraph of explanation to go along with it.

Didn't someone call Yammy being the 0 Espada on here? I seem to remember that.

Cage of Eden 150'ish to 185 (END)

I couldn't remember exactly where I left off reading, but I doubt missing a bunch of chapters would've made any difference to my understanding of the 'plot'.

For one moment I thought it was moving towards a twist where the cast had all been recreated via genetic engineering etc. having died in the plane crash. That would've been better than what we ended up with, at least.

I don't think so. The reactions were funny, but I don't think anyone called it.

God's Beard isn't wrong when he insinuates most shonen is highly predicable. He called a lot of Naruto (which is where he got the Kishimoto nickname), generally he's able to call One Piece and a lot of people have successfully called events in Bleach. Calling an event in any of them isn't any more amazing than figuring out that the lastest X-Man to die is probably going to get resurrected soon because they slavishly adhere to various tropes.
