GTA Stock Market & Insider Trading Thread: Scratching that BAWSAQ itch

That seems like pennies for a $5 million investment. What good will an extra 300k do for you if you sold your stock and got $5 million back right now? I'd hang on to see how far it goes.
I just said fuck it and put down 10 million more. I'm gonna regret this.

I only have about 25 million across all thre characters. Someone tell me what to invest in because i have no idea what I'm doing :p

So we can effect some if these right? Like if i invest in electric and water and everyone went around hitting traffic lights and water hydrants stocks rise?

I wish I had more money when I had seen HAL for like .75$.... I bought about 10 mill more for each character at about $8.. I think this stock is going to rise big time before falling again...

I don't think it did, it was $1 the day the game launched and stayed there for the first several days. Then it slowly started rising to where it is now.

Sorry for the small spoiler but this is the stock thread after all. I gotta share any tips I get.

I might be misreading it but the high for HAL says "$50"

Edit: What the fuck, just checked the social club site and none of Michael's cash is invested into HAL. I know I did all three characters :/

Ethics aside (ethics in my stock market lol), is saving a game, betting it all on something, and loading a previous save if the stock hoes bad a viable option? At least on the LCN?

This is what i'm doing on the bawsaq. I have 3 saves. One at default with all my cash, one with every cent invested in HAL, and another with every cent invested in PIS.

Did anyone get much of a return on the stock tip the guy you take to the airport gives you? (For me it was to buy Tinkle). Also can I advance time in the game by sleeping to make the stock price change faster?

Only for LCN I believe, though I doubt it works

Should be 33%, only takes half an hour or so to peak apparently.

Sleeping does work. I did that for the Lester missions, usually peaks after 32 hours or something.

Yes, Twinkle raises about 20-30% I believe...

and yes, I just lay in my bed and each day check the stocks and lay back down again.. You also don't need to save either, you can just back out of the save menu and it still advances time..

If you have any left I think you could still make a bit of coin. Read up on the stocks in the posted guides as well as the save game recommendations.

I fucked up and did the Lester missions before the end. Now each dude has about 18 million (I'm careful with who I use in the heists) - can I still make the 150 mill for the golf course easily enough?

Probably over time but it's going to take a while and you're going to really have to watch BAWSAQ for what's on the rise.

So how does BAWSAQ work, anyway? Why didn't Rockstar just have BAWSAQ be completely online, instead of it being affected by single player? Having BAWSAQ being different for people just seems weird.

Alright, so I have a question. Are the BAWSAQ stock prices effected by people buying stocks? Like if a bunch of people decided to buy pisswasser stock, would the pisswasser stock price then go up?

Alright then, well I just put in a few million into pisswasser not too long ago so hopefully that will drive the price up. All y'all need to buy pisswasser stock.
I'd keep an eye on it tomorrow, reddit started this price hike and they plan on dumping it Monday night. Though I imagine people will do it earlier to make sure it doesn't drop lower than they want.

I don't thinks it's possible for the OP with the limit to pretty much images & links...
The social club site has a nice ticker though & other info.

That uses Javascript. If you could get into the GTA database and pull the stats to an image, it'd be technically possible. But probably too bandwidth intensive and Rockstar wouldn't like the numerous queries to pull to a static image that people would have to reload for "real-time" stats.

Good thinking, I'm curious but didn't even look much into it.

Okay, so I did The Vice Assassination, invested in Fruit beforehand and Facade afterwards... Facade bounced back, I sold, I went and did the Bus Assassination, now Facade is back down 33% so I bought again, but no matter how many times I sleep it won't bounce back and Vapid won't budge. What gives?

Ones to look out for and monitor closely after we all cash in on PIS:

Badger [BDG] - It's been plummeting all week. Once it starts to rise, it could be a solid investment.

Betta Pharmaceuticals [BET] - This is more blind hope on my part than anything else due to an outstanding investment when I couldn't understand BAWSAQ. Nevertheless, it has to rise again sometime, right?

Crevis [CRE] - After falling steadily all week, this one is better left for another week or so before deciding on investments, but we should keep an eye on it nonetheless.

Shark [SHK] - This took a steep fall today. If that pattern continues, it might be an idea to invest in once it starts to rise again.

Tinkle [TNK] - Another one falling steadily, although it's still too high to invest in just yet.

Vom Feuer [VOM] - This is starting to level out after a week of decline. If it starts going back up, this is definite investment material.

Zit [ZIT] - It's plummeting. If it starts to rise at all, throw some cash money in there and see what happens.

I'm not sure how GTAO will play into all of these fine ideas, so take everything with a grain of salt for now.

How do you get individual graphs on each stock? I could not find a way but I did not try *real* hard. Or are you just jotting down prices in a spreadsheet?

There's a random encounter with a guy who will tell you to invest in this right away after you complete his event. I did and it rose almost immediately so I sold it to make about $60k profit real fast. I don't know how high it goes or for how long but that's the "easiest" way to manipulate that particular stock.

Sorry for the small spoiler but this is the stock thread after all. I gotta share any tips I get.

Yeah, I made about 5M per character on that. It was after I finished the story mode. I have been looking for this guy so I can repeat =). I am sure it will be a different stock the next time.

I invested around 5 million into PIS. The profit right now is around 300‚000. Should I sell?

I would wait until it levels out. The stocks in this game don't seem to follow IRL patterns. They go up, level off, go down, level off, go up, level off, etc....

Edit: I just realized that IRL stocks do this too. lol. What I mean is that this games prices seem to follow a predictable pattern where RL stocks are much more volatile in random directions. Something like YHOO back in the day could go up/down from the previous days closing price several times in the day and was not easy to predict. Day trading heaven but not good for people that hold stock overnight.

That's why long term stock investments, IRL suck.

Even if a stock fluctuates within a 50 cent range within a week IRL, it going up and down several times allows people to buy AND short making a much MUCH higher percentage of return per week.

Yeah, I only daytrade individual stocks. I never hold overnight. Long-term stuff, such as 401k, IRA's, etc..., go into mutual funds and EFT's. I have a conservative investment methodology for the long-term stuff to where my investment accounts usually have 33-50% cash. This forces me to sell when prices rise and buy when prices fall. It has worked out pretty good for the past 10 years. I have beaten the S&P 500 so I cannot complain about that. The only time it doesn't beat the S&P 500 is when there is a massive bull market. But those never last long and you have to perfectly time the high point to reap the rewards. Which hardly anybody ever does unless they get lucky or they day trading the futures.

This thread... is a great idea. Good work. I invested in Ammunation with Trevor the other day. It was low. I assume this will skyrocket at some point.

Yep. I did the Lester missions as well and I was at about 30 million for each character. I've since doubled that between yesterday to today. It'll take a little more work than waiting on the Lester missions, but it's certainly achievable.

My crappy wifi signal that's constantly cutting out is just killing me right now. Just did the random event where the guy tells you to throw your money at a certain company as a reward but I just can't get onto the market due to it requiring a net connection.
