I didn't know he was a MS or Xbox hater. I mean, I didn't look through his post history. I was just going to what he said, which is that he likes the PS4. If his history is full of XB1 hating, then that's fine - I understand the reluctance to trust his opinion. But if he's just a fan of PS4, that shouldn't be enough to write him off.

I didnt say he was, im saying im not. A lot of people on this forum have had their minds made up a long time ago and its hard to tell whos unbiased in their impressions. That is what im saying.

Like Greg Miller from ign. I know he prefers gaming on ps3, but i also know hell give me truthful opinions about Xbox360. In Gaf, not so much.

That's kind of what I was getting at, that just doesn't happen, looking at post history, it's XBox One related threads where the brand can be propped up or defended when it's needed. I've seen a lot of developers on here who frequent everything from their own game threads to threads about TV shows they like (or don't like).

I tend to take people more seriously as part of the community when they're actually a part of the community.

Albert is becoming a bit of a figure head for the Xbox One brand right now, though. I think it would be easy to "slip" in OT. hehe

So, I don't blame him there.

i have absolutely zero agenda and i pretty much completely agree with the OP. both next gen systems are very very underwhelming. with the xbox one being more underwhelming visually. the only thing i disagree with is the controller distaste.

I've been trying to find a PS4 demo station here in Denver, but the Sony site told me one of them was at a day spa at a location that ended up being a parking lot, and one is supposedly at some kid's pre-school.

Both seem questionable, and I'm definitely not going to show up at a pre-school asking about their Playstation demo station.

XB1 truck will be here next month, not sure if I'll check it out or not, it's literally right on top of the release date anyway.

Honestly? I figured it would be someone who constantly trashes the 180 and praises the PS4 when I read the thread title. So when I saw it was Buff I knew he wouldn't like it. He's never seem even mildly enthusiastic about it. Does that mean he's lying? Not at all and I'm honestly surprised that he couldn't find anything remotely worthwhile besides the triggers. But you're here enough to know why this is "controversial". Don't play that card man, you're way smarter than that. I wouldn't trust Sage to reliably review the PS4 either. No offense to Sage or Buff, but you can't go around like that and then just expect people to say, "yeah, that's a fair look at things".

Having said that I still appreciate the impressions because as much as I assume he doesn't care for MS he's factually played more 180 than I have.

not at the EBgames expo in sydney they werent. both ps4 and the xbox were case free. the xbox had vents basically all around it which is why i was so surprised it was running hot. it wasnt "burn your hand" hot but it honestly wasnt far from it

ps4 felt slightly lukewarm. cant comment on noise for either because it was an extremely loud environment

Do the triggers have modifiable resistance, or just vibration. The things I have read only mention vibration. Resistance would be cool for something like a sniper trigger, where you get 3/4 low resistance, and have to pull the last 1/4 hard for the shot, but it doesn;t sound like they are capable of that.

It's rumble/haptic, not force feedback. Force feedback on the triggers would give you 2 hours of battery life.

Isn't the PS4 case plastic and the XBO case metal, or is that not right? It would account for a drastic difference between the two in case temp as metal transmits heat which actually helps cool as well due to dissipation.

I played LocoCycle at PAX this year, I left severely underwhelmed. I like those guys' previous work (Splosion Man, Comic Jumper, etc) but this thing didn't feel "next-gen" at all. I asked the girl working the booth and setting people up with the demo if it was an XBLA game and she told me "nope, full retail title, 59.99 this fall". I later found out this is false but at the time I just shook my head and couldn't believe they were trying to sell that game for 59.99. It felt like a endless runner game you'd play on your iPad.

The controller felt...like an XBox 360 Duke to me, I dunno why because I know it's not but it felt much larger than a 360 pad in my hands. Worked just fine though, I wasn't floored but it didn't seem like the big jump up that the Dual Shock 4 felt like the first time I used that.

both felt like plastic (kind of like the plastic that lumia phones or the new iphone has) thats the best way i could describe it. polycarbonate i think it is? the only difference from what i could tell is the xbox was glossy plastic and the ps4 has a matte finish on some areas like the ps3 slim v2 (not superslim)

Not at all, but I think post history and general attitude on here lately brings his motives into question. Like someone mentioned earlier it would be like sending a Halo fanatic to a Killzone demo and them coming on here trashing the game. He knew he was going to get questioned and in 2013 it doesn't take much to snap a quick pic.

So, you really think that everyone needs to post pictures now? Just to prove they actually saw something they post impressions of? That is the point of my rant, its sad it has come to this.

If he was positive about he Xbox One, regardless of his post history, you or anyone else would be asking for a "pic or it didn't happen." And that, in my opinion, is sad. Graphics wise though? They were fun as hell but I remember telling myself while playing "this looks pretty good, right". Didn't distract from my enjoyment, just the games didn't blow me away.

Hell, I even enjoyed Untold Legends in coop, but that game was pretty average. Basically I keep my expectations in check. That second year is when things really take off.

This was a big problem at the Eurogamer Expo with every console game I saw from a typical living room distance, it was disappointing to say the least.

Ive only seen FIFA on the Xbox One and it did not look good or almost any better than the 360/PS3 version

And before the pitchforks are out, no i dont blame that on MS or Xbox One, its clearly more capable than what i saw. Its 100% on EA, and having seen NBA Live teaser video, something tells me most EA stuff will look bad, except BF4 because its Dice and they are visual wizards.

I think people who are anticipating this BIG jump in graphically fidelity are going to be in for a disappointment. (At least the launch line up) on looks alone seem to of just caught up to what can be achieved on PCs. To me, Ryse looks on par with Crysis 3 on ultra settings.

Btw, I'm in no way some PC elitist. I have a PS4 preordered and am really excited for next-gen consoles.

Yeah, same here. When it comes to controllers it's all on you yourself getting to play with it and form a personal opinion.

Never a good sign to hear negative views on something of course, but it won't mean much after actual experience. Hell, I'm still shocked the Wii U pad is comfortable to me, never would have guessed looking at it.

It's interesting how preemptively defensive so many people get in threads like these. Reminds me of when I moved to a new apartment once. I brought the cats in in separate pet carriers.
