Odd of Dark Souls 2 getting a Next Gen port ?

I think it's virtually guaranteed.

They'll wait til late 2014/early 2015 to release it, of course, but it's coming.

I won't be buying Dark Souls 2 due to FROM making pc the priority. The series would be nothing without PS3 and 360.

I'd there any evidence to suggest that the 360/PS3 versions have suffered due to PC being the lead platform? If not, you're being ridiculous.

Pretty sure they aren't "leading" on PC because its the most important SKU for them -PS3 will almost assuredly sell the strongest- but because its the most portable option.

Yep, game is running on a new in-house engine that was probably developed with next-gen in mind to some extent, so it makes sense that they'd start fresh and lead on PC like other multiplat games. It's more about workflow than platform favoritism.

I'd saw around 20%.

It's not impossible, but it's pretty unlikely. From has said in the past that they aren't really interested and don't have the time.

Shooo, I'll double dip because I had to pre order the Collector's Edition of Dark Souls 2 (that 12" action figure just looks so badass)

Nice, to bad the reality of it looks different.
PC getting a delayed release :/

Anyway I can live with double dipping.

It happens, Borderlands 2 and Arkham City both lead on PC and still got delayed. Also, they said that the PC version could still launch on the same day, they just wanted a little leeway since it seems like the PC version is digital only (at least to start) and doesn't have to worry about shipping on time.

Hahaha DkS had an absolute shit PC port, them "focusing" on the pc port is simply them bring it up to par, with a normal non crap pc release.

Yeah I was kinda blind didn't look at the fact that they promised 60fps on PC while consoles are still at 30. Of course that will make things harder even if it is the lead platform. Anyway I'm prepared all I need is a date, a controller and someone to hold my hand while I keep on dying.

Wait what...Yeah I admit many multiplat games sell better on Consoles. Simple Math.
Every game shines better on the PC as well.
If it's due to the community(really thanks Durante) or one of the many many mods out there(Skyrim is kinda crappy without them) the games would have been forgotten much quicker without Gaming sites promoting the games with updates about Wacky/Awesome/Whole new games made with mods inside said game.

Yeah well no one will miss you hope you find another game that is locked down to your prefered medium :S

WAT ???????

Is it the Myazaki project ?

Probably not.

Miyazaki said he's working on a "warmer" project. Demon's Souls is anything but warm, and imo much more darker than the world of Dark Souls.

“sometimes I’d like to work on a warmer game – not necessarily casual, but warmer in terms of the atmosphere and the environment”. It’s the closest thing that we’re given to a hint about the nature of his next project.

I wonder what Durante's going to do with all his spare time when the sequel doesn't need to be fixed so badly? Maybe he'll rip apart the game's code to see if they copied his implementation of ambient occlusion from DSFix. :p

Why do people want next gen ports of current gen games? Do slightly better graphics really mean that much to you?

Just look at some of the games coming out at the end of this gen on consoles. Some of them barely play with any great fidelity. They are squeezed into these dated machines with features taken out. It isn't just slightly better graphics. It's an overall better experience.

Faster load times, frame rate, number of AI or players that can be in the same map without a huge hit on performance... the list goes on. I tend to get multiplatform games on PC when available for the past couple years now because certain games I find almost unplayable due to the performance of console versions.

Is the PC version of 2 going to be decent or will we need a Prepare to Durante Edition again? They could always port that version to PS4/XB1.

Did you mistake this place for N4G? I mean, that's were I put my more ridiculous statements.

jeez i hope it comes. if it does i can pretty much abandon this gen and closet the system. my last controller took a shit today and i dont really feel like buying another... ds2 is the

last game i want so.idk itl feel more validated when im taking it out to reminisce but now im ready to move on.

new kings field and demons please

Surely a lot of guys considered hardcore that would buy darksouls will be moving to nextgen, that's a lot of their market, I seriously hope they do give a decent port to ps4 as once I go next gen, there's no going back.

It's probably gonna get one but no way in hell am i going to miss the fresh online of Dark Souls 2when people have no idea what the fuck they're doing waiting months for a port. Those are the best times, constant invasions everywhere.

This. Not sure why it's hard to understand. Would I prefer to play the game with better graphics and better performance on my new system for the same price? Yep.

Very likely, it's called the PC version.

But yeah, I think it's happening, probably an enhanced version like Prepare To Die.

Your phrasing implies that it costs us something to want a next gen port. Some people just want that option. Even if it means almost nothing to me, why would I not prefer more platform options? What's the trouble?

In fact, it doesn't mean anything to me because I'm getting it on PC. I still would prefer next-gen versions exist.

Odds are pretty good. PC is the next gen. :p Joking aside, it shouldn't take too many resources from FROM as long as the lead platform is still PC.

No, he said he sometimes would like to work on a warmer project, not that he is.

It’s the closest thing that we’re given to a hint about the nature of his next project

Besides, I don't see why Fromsoftware would want to expand on Demon's Souls when the IP is owned by Sony.

Unless they buy the IP, and even then they already have Dark Souls so there's really no point.

Well there are people here refusing to buy it until a PS4 port, which makes absolutely no sense. ofc maybe they are joking but eh

I have skimmed the whole thread and I didn't see anyone saying that. The guy I was responding to didn't quote anyone, either.

"It’s the closest thing that we’re given to a hint about the nature of his next project"

That's just Edge speculating. They even say "closest thing to a hint" about his next game, as in it's not even a real hint so it basically means nothing. He might be working on something like that, he might not. It sounds more like a "Someday I'd like to do something like X." Given how he wanted to work on Dark Souls 2 and the higher ups didn't even let him do that, I'm guessing he doesn't have that much control over what he chooses to work on.

Unless they buy the IP, and even then they already have Dark Souls so there's really no point.

The point would be more money and projects for their studio. Kind of like how they tried their hand at Chromehounds for Sega/360 even when they already had Armored Core, but unlike that time they already know Demon's Souls would be profitable alongside Dark Souls.

I would like to see a next gen release, but only because its about the only thing keeping me from selling off my ps3. I have a working 60GB fatty, so Im sure I could probably sell it for damn near the cost of the ps4. But Im keeping it for DS2 and South Park Stick of truth.

That's true.

But seeing how similar Dark Souls is to Demon's Souls already and in addition seeing how Dark Souls 2 is a combination of both Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, why would they make another Demon's Souls? I don't see how that would be profitable for them given the fact the Dark Souls has become their most prominent IP by going multiplatform. I'm sure if Sony pushes for it then it might happen, but then again they were the ones that didn't want to publish the original game outside of Japan because it was "crap".

If it does happen, cool.

Could come to wiiU. Namco are on great terms with Nintendo
