They didn't exactly say how many of them are Titans, did they?

Sadly not so wasn't going to guess so being lazy just lumped them all together but...

1 in 1459 really, 30 of the 300 are going to the prominent community members :)

I wonder what will class as 'prominent'? More than likely folks giving advice, Workshop stuff, Guides and so on. Though I wonder if Jase has an eye on the hope that it mean 'Those who hath dedicated ones life to owning it all' get top billing?

Morning y'all fellow GAFfers, we are less than a week from a Halloween sale, right? Or nothing was confirmed so far?

Nothing has been set in stone but it's likely to begin next week.

Here's hoping. :p

Valve was quite vague in their statement that different beta machines would get different hardware. I'm sure the 30 pre-chosen ones will get the titans >_>

I'm not sure, the 25% code for selected games doesn't include this one.

I got so infuriated by win 8 love that couldn't think straight for several minutes.
I'm not fast to hate, no, but do I hate win8, not with forum talk hate but real blood boiling hate.

Fix your computer instead of continuing to complain about hardware issues. Everything you listed in the other thread is a sign of a dying hard drive or similar incoming hardware failure(or perhaps a bad install, back-up and do a clean install). Otherwise there's nothing to complain about given the desktop portion is exactly the same as 7 if you use one of the Start replacements. And stop getting so mad at silly things. You'll burst a blood vessel :D

So guys... What's the Trading Cards and XP stuff all about? Simple E-Peen or do I have actual benefits from doing that stuff?

I know it's not the place, but you are aware that on the same computer I'm using steam, gog, hundreds of sites and applications, download stuff and generally do things, problems I got there are only with app store and MS servers and OS in general.
So please, just stop, I left that topic to keep my sound mind with me.
I have plenty to complain about, I just chose not to do it here.

Do you not expect people to respond to your posts? Do you not realize how absurd and laughable it sounds when you say praise of an OS made you actually stop everything for a period of time so you could sit in silent contemplation? You made a post regarding the subject it in any case so it was not left behind.

Do a clean-install, it will fix the issues you mentioned. They're not normal things experienced, they're signs of either hard drive failure or a poor install. Or you can continue to suffer as you do. It's apparently quite the burden.

So guys... What's the Trading Cards and XP stuff all about? Simple E-Peen or do I have actual benefits from doing that stuff?
Bit of both. You can sell trading cards for real steam money, although prices are much lower than at launch. The badges you craft given backgrounds and coupons. For every ten levels you get a boost in chance for receiving a booster pack which is a set of cards for a particular game. You can sell it or open in the hopes of obtaining a foil which are rarer versions of normal trading cards.

The other ten level bonus is you get an extra slot to put an achievement/game showcase, favorite screenshots, etc. It's a fun system.
My profile with the background being crafted from Teleglitch

Edit: JaseC's response was much more neatly put together. Still, should given you a general idea.

So guys... What's the Trading Cards and XP stuff all about? Simple E-Peen or do I have actual benefits from doing that stuff?

Here's a quick overview:

- You get a limited amount of drops, equal to half the amount of cards if even or half+1 if uneven; for instance, games with six cards offer you three drops while those with seven give you four drops
- To complete a set, you need to either trade your unwanted cards with other users or purchase your desired cards from the Market. Booster packs, which drop randomly and require you to have used up all your drops for a given game, also play into this, however the chance of you obtaining one in a given period is dependent upon you having been online once within the past fortnight and your Steam Community profile level; the higher your level, the greater the likelihood of a booster drop
- With a complete set, you can craft a badge. Game badges can be crafted up to five times, with the exception of foil badges (crafted using foil variants of the regular cards), which can be crafted just the once. Crafting a badge nets you 100 XP, a discount coupon, a profile background and an emoticon (both pertaining to the game in question). XP is, as alluded to earlier, used to increase your Steam Community profile level: levelling up nets you five additional friend list slots, and once you reach level 10 you're able to set a profile background and a showcase that allows you to feature something in particular (e.g. your game/DLC count or unlocked achievements) -- each tenth level thereafter allows you to set an additional showcase

You can see which games you can earn card drops from by clicking here. With F2P games, and games you don't own, if you're not eligible for drops, you can just buy or trade for the cards and they'll appear in the list.

Redirected to the UK site for me, £22.49. Could always use something like TunnelBear to get the US site though.

Thanks, guys. I'm still having trouble though. Using TunnelBear I get stuck when getting to the payment part, PayPal links don't work on GMG and I can't make an account on GamersGate it seems. :( I'll keep trying unless someone has a better idea...
other than waiting nearly a month.

Cutscenes in Deus Ex are still rife with terrible compression and macroblocking. I think it looks better than in the first game which were almost unviewable but still not nearly the improvement I was hoping for. And having played the original version a few hours ago the AA implementation seems equally awful and I can't tell a change. Not sure about the textures yet, but the yellow filter is definitely toned down so far. Still in the opening though.

Finally bought the Doujiin Bundle 2

Here is a leftover key

SHIT!

I entered this giveaway because I didn't know it was added to the Doujin Bundle 2 (and I thought your mention of it was an error of same kind...).

What is the best course of action in case I win this?

I saw you playing so I bought it.

I think it's too late now fellow GAFFer, ModBot will hunt you until he finds you.

I believe there's a NUKE option in case you made a similar mistake like the one you are mentioning. Also, no more Dark Souls? I understand if not, have you ever tried it again?

I've beat the game seven times, I was sort of numb to it after a while. Almost puts me into the character of Max Payne a bit more :D

7 Times? That's a lot of replay value, you definitely got your money's worth. I only played once, those cutscenes were not kind to my eyes to be honest but the Story was worth it.

The best part for me was the fact that they nailed the atmosphere and the actors who did the voices did an incredible job. Also the attention to the detail in those favelas were amazing.

Eh, I really would, but my DS situation is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8R7fHfcdvc#t=65 (darkroot garden boss spoiler)
Basically, wandering around is fine, but bosses are plain impossible. And it went worse boss after boss, because like, taurus demon was fine, spider in blighttown was barely playable and then this one. :(

Yesterday I was on my couch scrolling my library searching for something to play, and I was so sad to being unable to play DS that my gf actually said she's gonna buy me a graphic card for christmas just to "kickstart" a new PC. I readily asked for a Titan, so I think I totally missed a good opportunity and I'll get a pair of socks. :D

The flashing special effect is what annoys me the most.

I get killed a lot because old Max struggled at standing up.

The dodge move is a bit of a balancing act. It's useful for getting around quickly, particularly descending but you have to be able to quickly take out the enemies or land in a place where they can't get a bead on you. Thought it was quite fun to use.

Yeah, it really had that Rockstar polish throughout. Never seen levels with such intricate detail in another third person shooter.

And yeah, Hard, Hardcore, and Classic modes on both the PS3 and PC plus I did New York Minute on the PS3. Enjoy running through it every now and again, combat really is incredible. Think I'm done for a while though :D

So two months after sending in the requested information (a request that took over two months in the first place to appear after I filled out the initial form) to lift the 200 item trading limit I get...

We have reviewed the information you submitted. It appears that you have not provided us with a written explanation to substantiate your foreign status.

To remove the limitation on your account we will need you to provide us with:

1. A written explanation to substantiate foreign status. The explanation must meet these criteria:
a. Must be reasonable and explains why you used a U.S. address for a transaction(s)
b. Must support your foreign status
c. Must not indicate that you are a U.S. person
d. Examples include but are not limited to the following:
i. Selecting ‘United States’ as your country by mistake during checkout
ii. Entering a US address while visiting a friend or relative on vacation
iii. Using a credit card that belongs to a family member who resides in the United States
AND
2. Your response must include your Seller ID. You can find your Seller ID by navigating to your Account Details page: https://store.steampowered.com/account/ The Seller ID will be listed under Tax Information on the right side of the page.

Gee, thanks. The first email was so vague, it never mentioned they wanted an explanation for the use of a US address. And it's not even clear if that was the only problem, who knows. Let's see if we can drag this issue into next year.

Think positive man, she is going to buy not one Titan but two!

I dont know where that extra 5gb's for Deus Ex are because the game looks pretty much the same. The filter is gone but everything else is exactly the same including the AA options. It's still just edge AA, FXAA, and MLAA, none of which actually get rid of the jaggies.

Will the Deus Ex upgrade option actually ever go on sale, like in the winter sale? :p

Seriously, I'll wait another couple months and get it for £1 instead of £3, I'm in no rush to replay it yet.

That insidious bag of bollocks that is GFWL is laughing at me with one foot in the grave. What with some Dark Souls talk a few pages back and not firing up either of the Arkham games since their patch I though I'd have a snoop around. Well it's been so long since I've used it that I forgot I changed my password and now the it's being a right pain and not registering any key stokes. The sooner this is ripped out of everything the better.

Edit: Crisis adverted. All it took was deleting the leach out of my system before letting it back in again to get back to 'normal'.

Finally setup family sharing with my brother (you can take me off your hit list, Stallion) and so far it's pretty sweet. Only have it setup one way for now, but works good so far!

Bit annoying that the person you're sharing with starting any one of their games while you're playing a shared title kicks you(after 5 minutes). Hopefully they loosen that restriction in the future.

Still, kind of unbelievable that this is a thing so It's hard to complain too much. Would have been interesting to see how exactly the One's original solution worked but oh well.

Any of you tried going offline? Someone mentioned in the OT that while the person he shares his library with played his game, he went offline and could play a game without kicking the other guy out.
