Somebody tell the Helghast that they're not on Helghan anymore. Plant some trees for crying out loud.

(Why are they wearing masks anyway? I thought that was because of the poisonous atmosphere?)

Ground textures also kinda look like a mess here:

At least the ships look amazing.

And now they can't breathe clean air, makes them see colors.

Interesting trailer. Looks like a trip to Helghan is in order. You see those tenements stacking up to the giant crack in the Earth with the atmosphere going crazy in the background.

To be fair you pass over that scene in about a second so they don't really have any incentive to spend a lot resources on the ground.

Except for screenshots, man. Screenshots that dictate the life and death of a game. See, if I saw a screen where the ground was muddy like that, I would immediately write the entire game off and never think twice about it. Heck, I'd write off the people who so much as mention the game.

Light is placed behind some thin hexagonal mesh. You can see slight shadow of that mesh in the bottom part of her face.

Exactly right. It's not an area you play at, and it's just a fly-by. It would make no sense to spend too many resources there since nobody will have time to notice that the textures aren't great unless somebody screenshots them.

Yeah, it looks really nice. Pretty subtle, too; I didn't notice it until I watched the Gamersyde version.

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?
The environments are stunning. Not my type of game but it's looking really good.

Yeah, and we can't expect them to actually model every backdrop we see.

Even that great cityscape view in the reveal trailer is going to look considerably less impressive once you can look at it directly.

Looks ok to me. The story seems to be taking notes from Half Life and Metro...which certainly isn't a bad thing. I wish these games were more character driven though. By that I mean that i wish they would create a strong protagonist and stick with that person for a while. The game's identity has always been on the glowing-eyed villains.

Some of the environments look really great and varied. It should be a solid launch game.

I'm glad you made this gif, that's why I was harping on the light, the blim blim video, and it jives with the dev who stated the game will be told with no cut scenes, told in the first person perspective. The user will never leave the game.

I mean, that face looks amazing to me. Not sure what else folks are looking for in game. It's pretty incredible.

Given how close her face is to the light, shouldn't the hexagonal mesh be much darker? I'm not so sure that the mesh is covering the source of light.

After generations of adaptation to the air on Helghan, they didn't even need to wear it on their own planet. However, miliary stills dons the Helghast garb as a.) An intimidation factor, and b.) To remind the Vektans what the Helghast were subjected to. They are proud that they were able to overcome life on a terrible planet. That being said, Helghast citizens don't wear the mask.

How do you know she's close to the light? Could be a somewhat distant spotlight-esque lightsource, and the mesh fence or whatever it is is closer.

Shadow of small meshes quickly become defused with distance, and they could also be slightly transparent.

edit - I must say that I hate that GifCam does not have 30fps recording. Its 33fps timing screws a lot.

Quality is not top notch, A LOT OF DETAILS is lost.

haha. This is funny shit right here. You live in reality, don't you? Should not be hard to figure.

Edit: That face looks really good. Really impressive for closeup. One of best I have seen. This is becaming one of the best looking nextgen launch games. They rally catched well helghast skintone.

I'm sure this doesn't look as good as the February reveal, at least comparing the footage of the city.

The lighting in particular seems to have taken a hit. On the fly-over in the original reveal you can see the trees cast shadows (see 8 secs in to the reveal). But on this new footage everything seems much more flat and there are no shadows at all on the trees (see 1m16s on the new footage).

What's with her mouth?

Ok just going to say that was the most impressive trailer (graphically) I have ever seen for a game.

So crisp and detailed, animations, lighting, effects - everything screamed next gen.

Story looks good, this will definitely be the launch game to have on PS4, especially for Sci Fi fans.

Wow.

She's beautiful.

I can see there is something wrong with her lips, scar tissue and whatnot..

Visually very impressive but that's a given with GG and a KZ game. I just know the story is going to be utterly crap like all the other Killzones though.Which is a shame because there's actually a cool premise and lore there to have a deep political story. But GG never seem up to the task and fall back on movie tropes and cliches

Voice acting sounded a bit bad too and the face models look really weird when speaking up close.

It's hard to deny how pretty it is however

Ah, I see. Interesting.

No way. They're the cool looking ones.

The ISA needs to go.
I always felt like GG never really made up their mind if we're supposed to love or hate them. Looks like this this time the game itself will actually dive deeper into that and not portray it as clear black and white issue. (though I still expect most Helghans to be portrayed as super-duper evil)

Ok, so who wants a DLC campaign where you play as the Black Hand and infiltrate a Vektan trailer park to assassinate Rico while his old washed up fat ass is eating pork rinds and watching Helghan porn... or am I the only one?
