Stuff like this is why Nintendo doesn't participate in the traditional console race anymore. MS gonna get Gamecube'd whether or not this is true. Oh well, they decided to add Kinect over extra power, a cheaper innovation or a lower price. This is the path they chose.

If you add up what the internet thinks "casuals" and "the average consumer" don't care about, you end up with a group of people who don't care about graphics, don't care about interfaces, don't care about framerate, don't care about paywalls, don't read internet forums, don't read gaming magazines, don't research $500 purchases, and don't talk to their friends. I'm led to believe that there's millions of non-sapient grey blobs wiggling around and accidentally dropping money at Gamestop who somehow make up the majority of gamers.

Thank you for this. I know many "casuals", but they all care about SOMETHING. Sometimes it's what I or others tell them, often it's money, but also a lot of stuff they "read somewhere".

It is possible for it to look better at 720P with more post processing and a good upscaler (like the one on the Xbox one) than at 1080p with a lack of it, in an attempt to get the higher resolution. Not saying this will be the case, but honestly it's not all that unlikely.

Have you seen what type of GPU it takes to run 1080p games x 60fps at high details and such?

WAY more then the power of the 7770.

This aint even 1080p, Ultra details. This is sub 1080p x Medium detail on Black Ops 2 and the 7770 still doesn't reach 60fps.

Forget about 1080p on the X1 for PC ports. Unless you want low-medium detail levels and no AA.

Probably been pointed out already, but you can't just do an apples to apples comparison of hardware performance between Windows PC games developed to run a wide variety of hardware through DirectX and games developed for consoles.

Already been confirmed that the console is running much better looking games than Ghosts at 1080p. Not to mention if Crytek is getting 900p on Ryse and Double Helix is managing 720p/60FPS on Killer Instinct then there's no excuse for Infinity Ward not being able to surpass the both of those in terms of resolution and performance.

Really, if this is true, I think it says that there's some kind of issue between Microsoft and Infinity Ward than there is an issue with the hardware.

I mean, there's no doubt the PS4 is a stronger and more capable piece of hardware, but to this degree? I just don't buy it. Just seems too far outside the realm of plausibility.

I'll be livid if 1080p isn't at least semi-standard across the board for big games. I can just about forgive it for the first few months of up-ports, but surely there's no excuse for games built from the ground up for Xbox One and PS4?

If you read every post like me you might see a lot of XBox fans like myself upset by this possibility. I'm an adult who pays for his own stuff like a $2,000 1080p projector. I'm pretty upset that I may continue to run a majority of my games at 720p for the next 5-10 years. This is BS. I'm not saying all PS4 games will be 1080p but this rumor has me worried XB1 will have them MUCH less. Sad.
