RUMOUR: Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts is 720p, PS4 version is 1080p?

How can this even be remotely true, X1's OS is based off of windows 8, which is exceedingly reliable(maybe different for PC users but for tablets and everything else it's incredible and very minimal on the systems). Secondly, doesn't the Xbox One upscale everything to 1080p anyway? So even if this were true it would still be false.

That poor puppy. That's just mean.

bish gets all the credit :)
Guys, give Albert a break. I mean what else is he supposed to say? I'm sure it will be good enough for many more casual gamers who don't scrutinize graphics so much.

He doesn't have to post here, he chooses to. If he starts spinning, he will rightly get called on it.

c'mon son. It begins.

Whoa, when did I post that? I need to stop drinking.

You didn't. There's this glitch going around on the forum sometime that will randomly insert the wrong person into a quote box. It happened to me twice in another topic and a few other people said it happened to them too so... yeah. My bad dude :p

Look, I get some people claim such amazing eyesight as to be able to instantly distinguish native vs. upscaled when you're in a room watching and enjoying a game demo, despite the fact that it requires normal people access to a direct feed screenshot with very particular sections zoomed up 8x to pixel count, while also making sure you're accounting for other intentional environmental effects that may blur or otherwise impact the image.

But hey, if you're saying you can tell the difference with enough accuracy to make a public disclosure about it, just by watching someone play the game, then I say wow.

I've seen a bunch of other 3rd party games running at various times, and I can't tell you the *native* resolutions of those either.

So me, I'm not making that claim. I'm sorry if you think that's a job requirement.
So you are honestly telling me that the Microsoft director of product planning has zero idea what the number one selling game on his platform will run at?

You didn't bother to ask anyone? Didn't seem important at all?

Everyone is an expert on the internet, you should know that by now.

Upscaled 1080p =! 1080p

We're weeks from release, I don't see the point in holding anything back at this stage. Better get the news out there and deal with any fallout.

Well, the point is they want to sell games/systems. That's the entire point of the partnership. If the Ps4 version is the *much* superior version then it shits all over Microsofts deal.

If they are all hush hush about it then maybe people won't notice until it's too late.

Not sure how you want him to respond... He can't just say, "Yeah, it's been a nightmare. We really fucked up this time around, and we're super worried that consumers won't embrace our vision."

I'm sure they're worried. They just can't afford to show weakness. Hopefully this worry will lead to a huge influx of exclusive games on the Xbox One in the future--gotta find that silver lining.

I understand I'm not going to get a response and don't expect one. It's more a of comment. It just baffles me this company chose the direction they did and expected their core fanbase to accept it and be happy about it. I was almost a sole Xbox 360 gamer. My ps3 was a bluray and naughty dog / insomniac machine basically. It's things like this why I'll be a ps4 only gamer until I can get an xbone super cheap without that garbage Kinect. I love halo, and their other exclusives. But I'm not going to stick to a brand I like that is less powerful by far and more expensive just because I like a few exclusives. They totally screwed up with this console.

To be honest though, most of the people who buy CoD on consoles probably don't care or can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. Most of them probably only buy CoD and Madden and both aren't graphical powerhouses. They may think the graphics on CoD are the best thing since The Cloud®

Can't believe you're actually spitting the "720p upscaled to 1080p looks just as good as native 1080p and only a falcon could spot the differences 10 ft away from a 32" T.V" line.

I used to think you were serious but you have to be trolling at this point, right?

So... do we have to wait for the reviews (or sometime around there) until this is confirmed or is it possible for this to be cleared up by tomorrow?

Ball's in your court morti... My water bed is ready.

I agree with everything you say. It's my job to cut through PR's bullshit.

And by my job I mean hobby. But I want it to be a job. I don't think I have many prospects at Microsoft though.

It's not a messaging issue though. The DRM policies were real and they sucked. The kinect is real and people don't want it. The power gap exists and we're seeing it. There's no misunderstanding.

I've canceled my CoD preorder and will cancel my Xbox One preorder if I don't hear some straight actual answers. If the Xbox One can't handle this game at 1080p then I don't have much confidence in this system going forward.

That's the point I'm trying to make. I want to get an Xbox One because that's what I want. That's it. If I got a PS4 instead, I wouldn't see it as saving myself $100. I'd see it as not getting what I want.

Yes buy whatever makes you happy. I am going to stay with a Wii U for some time, then PC. For tastes the colors, is a saying in my country.
If exclusives > better 3rd party versions then I understand where you are coming from.

But damn this meltdowns sure are entertaining to watch. It is clear now MS was not ready for launching 2013.

CoD Ghosts ---> PC >> PS4 >>> XB1 >> Wii U > PS360

I've seen a bunch of other 3rd party games running at various times, and I can't tell you the *native* resolutions of those either.

That is fair enough, I couldn't pick it up either.

But come on, if Call of Duty is 720p you are seriously saying that nobody at Microsoft would have asked or been told? You have confidentiality, but you also have all these partnerships and DLC arrangements and whatever else going on.

Nobody has gone to you "btw the game will look significantly worse on the xbox one. Might need to deal with that one?"

Nobody asked "Hey the xbox one version of the new game in one of the biggest franchises of all time is up to scratch right? If not, any way we can help out?"

Seems to me there has always been help for third party titles in the past. Why would such an important title be a mystery? It would blow my mind if Microsoft was launching a console whilst sitting back and going "boy, I hope this all works out!"

They don't.

But if they are equal or better they find a way to tell you that. If they aren't, they tell you why their version is still up to par.

They don't? Then why did everyone expect him to reveal the native resolution then?
Even if he said it was 1080p native i wouldn't believe him until i got official word from someone at Activision.

I think this is about more than CoD though. It's our first real glimpse (if true) at One versus PS4 in regard to performance. Hence everybody going batshit insane.
Especially considering CoD ghosts looks downright terrible compared to other next gen games like Killzone.

I am anticipating Xbox 360 vs XBone screen comparisons. There's a bigger difference between 720p and 1080p than there is between 600p and 720p

Ok, so it's 720p.

There's no way in hell that you saw it running and couldn't tell the resolution. And you know that seeing the game running vs watching videos online isn't in the same league.

The upscaler you put in is very good, I'm sure. Also, don't send anyone out to kill me. Thanks.

My beard just doubled in size because of the testosterone that just oozed out of this comment.
