If we looked at it at the size you posted probably not.

Blow that picture up on a 60 in Plasma and sit about 6-8 feet from it and yes most of us will be able to tell.

This is just great. So I can either have the games I like (Halo, Forza, Killer Instinct) or the more powerful system that is $100 cheaper.

I prefer the XBOX

- Controller
- Games (titles, not resolutions)
- XBOX Live
- OS

I prefer the PS

- Graphics Capabilities
- Price

This is why the XBOX division has disappointed so many since E3. Never before has XBOX been weaker than the competition. So now I have to either join the ecosystem I like less to get better multiplats or I can stay in the ecosystem I prefer and deal with the fact that I'll be playing all my shit at a lower resolution.

This is the most diplomatic I can make my mini meltdown. In my head there is a lot more cursing.

I understand the rationale a bit, but still have to totally disagree with people acting like this is going to put a huge dent into Xbox 360 sales. We have seen how important the graphics edge has meant the past few generations (absolutely nothing).

People who were going to buy 360 for the exclusives are still going to buy the system regardless. Casuals will still buy Xbox because of their familiarity with the brand and love for the features/staples/etc...and the online community.

Price is really the only resounding negative of the system. Being the middle console power wise is not that big of a knock when it comes to the mass consumer.

At this point no confirmation is needed I feel its pretty safe to infer that if 2 major cross gen ports are 720p that a game with the scope bungie is striving for with Destiny well be 900p in the best possible situation and 720p being the most likely outcome.

I don't think it's anywhere near Cell difficulty- it took a goddamned year for most developers to get a working game engine on that thing, didn't it? But it's certainly less straightforward than PS4, which is probably a big reason for the resolution difference, meaning that the gap might be more pronounced for the first wave of games than it will be once developers get a handle on how to properly handle the ESRAM.

I don't really care if this rumor is true or not, but for the sake of Mortimer and Cboat credibility I hope it is.

They both seem to be honest insiders with gamer's interest at their heart.

There was a reason MS didn't want 1080 to be the standard resolution because they know what they built.

I dont get why everyone assumes xbox live is going to continue being so much better than psn. Sony is actually charging for it now so im pretty sure the paid version is going to be better than the free version. Im not saying xbox live wont be better, im just saying it isnt a given. (Its certainly starting to look like xbox live will be less crowded than psn)

At this point, I don't think we can call this a rumor. Unofficial perhaps. I dunno. CBOAT usually delivers the goods. Anyway, it's been real catching up with this thread.

Nah Mortimer said he heard it but couldnt confirm with another source. He didnt originally wanted this to be outed without that confirmation.

Then truway outed it and the thread was made and now CBOAT is also putting his money in.

RAM's role in video game performance is exaggerated. Having faster (and more) RAM on a PC has very minimal impact on frame rates and visuals. Not sure how RAM can be exploited on consoles though..maybe it's different.

Neither should new hardware then. They can stick to current gen if neither framerate or resolution or anything else improved by new hardware matters.

I agree about the exclusives. But until MS has a price cut, you have a system that is $100 more, with worse specs, and incapable of putting out games at 1080p at the same rate as the competitor.

And, I would also add..this last gen went on a long fuckin time. A really long time. I think consumers expect a bigger bump. If MS can't justify that price, I think it will start to sting (especially with news like this trickling out). I don't think this news will be as big as it is here, but after the DRM fiasco and the attention MS has had with this console's less than..smooth launch, I think it's possible this does have some impact.

But I guess we'll see.
