I think Sony only has the review event however. Maybe it's related to that? Or it could be a NDA that says "No youtube/streaming" which is why it impacts Sessler.

If it's true it's pretty shitty. It's not like Sony pays the press (openly anyway). The press is advertising their stuff for them, they should be compensated via youtube ads. Honestly, what is the harm in that? Sony is making a mistake IMO. If they are going to take that stance, my website may just stop covering them in part or cutback and what happens if the big boys do the same thing? Don't be like that Sony (assuming any of this is even remotely true).

I think that may backfire. I think this news would be a lot more shocking if he didn't make it sound like the gaming industry itself was about to collapse a day before we figured out what he's actually talking about.
Anyhow I thought we already knew about the HDCP thing. What changed over the last week about it? Are we certain that the HDCP bypass devices aren't a viable option?

I love console wars. The trick is to not take any of it too seriously. Obviously stuff like these resolution rumors have merit, but the drama really means nothing in the end. I look at it as a fun ride that we only get once every five to eight years, and enjoy it while it lasts.
Soon enough the dust will have settled, everyone will have their console of choice, and for the most part we will be back to just enjoying games. Of course we will still have fanboy spouts, but it won't be anywhere close to the same level or frequency.
Console launch season, tis a fun time if you can handle it.

He calls out Publishers at one point, and a lot of the twitter crap going on does too, so I assume it may be an issue with Activision layered on with the HDCP stuff. Reviewers are stuck using PR approved B-roll. Also wasnt the AC4 press event recently? It could be that game instead of COD.

Sony won't be sending out any review copies for games at that event so they've basically got 2 days the write reviews for everything that's can't be reviewed until then
If this is the case, why is Arthur upset about this? He published a review of Sim City in conditions that did not match launch conditions and steadfastly defended it.
Review/Preview Events have been happening forever. They have always been bullshit.
It's quite shitty I have to say. What can you say....gaming journalism.
It only solidifies for me that Arthur Gies is desperately trying to get a job at MS.

I was talking about the Sessler/Dent/Gies thing which is what I thought was causing all the ruckus, as people appeared to be connecting that back to the resolution rumors.
As people have noted, and I was catching up on as I got online late tonight, they are two separate issues. There was also some other BS thing about advertising or console problems (?). Is anyone taking that stuff seriously or did that all die? Consoles are fine, and the advertising thing is completely made up.
So anyway, one of them has nothing to do with us. Whew.
As for the resolution stuff I hadn't realized there was a new set of rumors popping up today. On that topic, and as I've said in my previous posts, I don't comment on 3rd party games stuff. Not my area.
So nothing new from me, I'm not going to get into the fray on the resolution stuff. G'night!
