People who do follow this forum know I had the ps4 reveal, the xb1 reveal, the xb1 e3 (12/15 games!), the ps4 reveal, the only person on this forum going against cboat/etc that the PS4 wasn't launching in October, the driveclub delay, cod 720p... any now this.

So was it a long con? Did I get inside info on all of that shit so I could screw everyone at the very last second? I would almost believe that if it wasn't sony. They aren't that competent. I actually offered myself, sexually(not sexually), to Adam Boyes early last summer and he said "You aren't qualified."

I'm not. But evidently I can still do some shit from out here. And I'm so goddamn poor Im selling off my ps4/xbox1 preorders that I made on day one that I won't get. Yeah, I'm that guy.


Anyway, when this is also correct, and we'll wait till the end of november for that to happen, if you're going to base your website/podcast on what I say you can just reach out to me. I can't say I haven't been considering getting a Wii U with Mario 3D. I'm keeping my PS4 pre-order. As long as it can get online long enough to grab Resogun, I'm good with them having all the problems in the world for a month or two or three. My Xbox One pre-order has been tenuous at best since the price+mandatory Kinect were announced. It's only gotten worse since.

I think the biggest problem here is that Sony has something thats broken (PS3) and they're trying to fix it. You see less backlash in situations like this.

Microsoft had something that was beyond fixed (360). It was almost perfect and people just wanted the exact same experience but more prettier games and bigger games. They have failed in almost all aspects that mattered to gamers (XBL 2.0 being an upgrade and not a downgrade; Games @ 1080p and not 720p, etc). This is why there is a backlash because they have screwed us since the beginning of the announcement with the whole DRM bullshit, and now the 720p crap and now the lackluster XBL.

That and Sony is quiet smart about keeping hush hush about the cons of PS4. We all know there will be cons, we just have to wait.

with all respect to the OP. not gonna argue if he is correct or not since its pointless to do so when we do not have any official conformation. however, i am one of those guys who believe most things will be sorted out by release date.

you have to remember they can work till the 22th when they release the update for the system.

i am not saying everything will be so smooth. but if everyone thinking the ps4 will be smooth online day one, then he is highly mistaken.

usually it takes some time to sort things out/bugs etc. specially when there is no public beta test for the software.

all i know that MS is a software company. and whatever you wanna accept or not, they are good at it. so i have a faith things will be sorted out.

A month is not always long enough to fix problems in software development. I am working on a project that was supposed to go in on July 1st. It has been delayed several times because the integration tests between all of the systems have not passed. We have delayed 2 more times since and now it is looking like we will finally go live in early December.

This is a small scale project vs. a console launch. Apparently the XB1 OS isn't even final and you have 3rd party devs trying to code to a moving target. This doesn't sound like good news.

Also, you can't just force people to work overtime. It will help some but you are not going to get 2x productivity out of a dev by making him work 16 hour days. Sorry, not happening.

The more I hear about this stuff the more pissed off I get. This was the longest generation for video games. The Xbox 360 has been out for 8 years. They've had an extra 3 years to get everything ready, this should be the least flawed console launch ever but somehow MS is fumbling everything. We keep hearing about how they aren't ready, the dev tools aren't close to being done now the live functionality isn't even completed. I don't understand how they could possibly have an excuse for this.

I've worked with a lot of product managers and witnessed a lot of bad engineering/technical decisions similar to what's been described here.

A lot of times its not about people being dumb or incompetent or evil, but companies that are run the way Microsoft is run have a bad habit of putting the wrong people in these critical decision-making roles. You end up having non-technical people making business decisions which have big time consequences from an engineering/architecture perspective and the results can be pretty bad.
