Penello seems unconcerned, but I'm not sure the tweets make much sense, since we know the Titanfall footage is stock:

You forgot about the rumors around PSN not being ready for launch and some of the OS issues that still seem to persist, and the 300mb deal at launch too. Those the PSN one was just in the last megathread, not in its own.

No I didn't forget, I just put that under the unspecified "other issues" since the Sony insiders to my knowledge have not been very clear as to the nature of what the problems specifically are.

What if TV passthrough is wonky - not that it would matter for us, but what if CBoaT's bomb is that the Xbox One can't reliably do the major things that MS themselves have been hyping the crap out of.

For it to be a real clusterfuck it has to transcend the kind of stuff we flip our shit over on NeoGAF (resolutions, driver crashes, TFLOPS and ram specs) and actually cross into mainstream consciousness. If, day one, it can't do the things MS trumpeted at the reveal then in the eye of the consumer, it's screwed and MS have a real PR shitstorm on their hands.

If, as gamers, we can hook it up and at least get a game to boot, play and have fun with then it might not be so bad for purely gaming early adopters, but if people are buying into the vision of a media center and it's about as useful as a Betamax player, then it's going to be a real disaster for the brand.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Honestly neither console should be launching this year. The games and services aren't ready. PS4 should have been with inFAMOUS and X1 with Titanfall.

As long as both consoles can play (offline) games without crashing and as long as there is at least one good game available from them, it is worth releasing. Launch is not as important as delivering right after launch. Wii U was horrible at launch, but what killed it was the drought after launch.

:lol why are people just now deciding to doubt these guys so much? Seems kind of bizarre.

Only people doubting are the ones who I expected too. They been on the Xbox hype no matter what kind of terrible confirmed info comes out about it. There's no changing them. I played Xbox exclusively but after hearing about their plans months ago with DRM etc.. I said fuck that. It's quite common sense. But fanboys are gonna fanboy.

It's hard to want to get any systems at this point. Which is why I've been saying: if you haven't got a Wii U yet, get that instead of PS4 or Xbox One. It's safer right now :p

To be fair, one does not have to get anything at launch. If anything, it's shit like this that should be steering people to wait until these platforms are out before they invest anything in them. So much negativity around the Xbox One, to me, makes it seem like any person interested in the product should really be cautious. There is more than enough smoke to say something is indeed burning regarding the system.

Representation. Wow. 3 weeks before launch, they're still fiddling around with a "representation". Sony did a live demo at gamescom in August for christ's sake.

So, they evidently can't post a live video because... reasons.

Because it's obviously unfinished.

I have no idea what the hell is going on at Microsoft. They must have been absolutely utterly blindsided by Sony announcing a 2013 launch, and then the DRM 180 made things a million times worse.

Even as someone who is most likely buying a PS4 I still find it annoying that negative xbox one rumors generate a "Good! I knew it all along response!" While negative PS4 rumors are just dismissed as nonsense rumors.

I've seen people on here flip out over not being able to change your background on the PS4 so I don't know if I agree with you. I think it depends on the magnitude of the rumor as well as how reliable the soures are

Edit: forgot about the drive club delay rumors also and the drama that followed

Is 300mb really a "deal" for anyone though? That's literally like 2 minutes on most modern connections..

I'm not knocking thuway's for posting what his source told him, but hasn't anyone with a basic understanding of game development known for months than 8GB of DDR3 RAM + 32 MB of ESRAM would always be inferior to 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM?

If we went back to to a year ago and said console A would have 8GB of DDR3 RAM + 32 MB of ESRAM and console B would have 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM, how many people would say console A had the better setup?

IYes. Of course. There was a DriveClub delay, there was news that several features won't be ready for launch like the suspend feature in the other topic, there needs to be a firmware for the Bluetooth stuff and as far as we know there are other issues that haven't been clarified which the Sony insiders keep saying will be fixed with time but of course that could mean anything.
Oh. I guess these qualify as bad news.

Still nothing quite on the scale of 'the OS is broken, the network is broken, the games are barely an upgrade on current gen and won't improve much over time'.

Hypothetically, if all this is true, doesn't Microsoft have to consider a delay to '14? They launch a weaker system at a $100 premium with all kinds of OS problems and it's market suicide. However, a delay cedes a marketshare gap they may not be able to make up.

Microsoft is in a terrible spot.

I feel the same way as you- but is it that crazy to just wait and see for more real confirmation outside of a few tweets? This is from someone who feels the same way, PS4 is the safer way for me to get my 2k14 fix. But I just don't think all of this noise means that the Xbox is going to be shipped as a brick. I think most of this stuff- if even true- will probably get sorted out. But I think the best course of action is to not get all worked up, and just wait and see til the news outlets get their hands on em.

Interesting. Both Spencer and him are dodging the problem and aren't denying the rumors. If everything is fine why not record some quick footage? Everyone has a smartphone now.

Licensing issues with who? Haha. MS, you own the UI. If there are ads for other companies, scrub them, do a demo, and shut people up. Or do nothing and allow the rumors to continue and kill your pre-orders. Christ, Albert.

They don't seem to be concerned about any of these "rumors" whatsoever. Now, whether they are true or not, they cannot be anything but damaging to the brand and to their upcoming launch.

Well, I have to give it to MS PR, they haven't changed at all since the XBone announcement. Deflect, Deflect, Deflect.

Is there a chance that this whole thing is simply a couple of devs not liking the fact that they have to work overtime during crunch or have low moral?

What better way to fuck over your employer than to 'leak' a load of shit that could be true but is actually par for the course during the run up to a hardware release. Honest question?

I just don't know what to believe anymore.

I could see maybe XBL being behind PSN performance, but there is no way that the snap feature will be crashing or even non-functional when the console launches. Not a chance. Xbox 1 would be finished.
