Well if its anything like Connected Standby on Windows 8 devices, it could probably be as low as 1W which is pretty slick. It's practically off. I keep wondering why I don't see the EnergyStar moniker on things anymore. I wonder if its a licensing thing.

The benefit here is being able to launch into a game that you've put into suspend state... Something you haven't been able to really do ever before (unless you were willing to pause the console for hours on end)

Not surprising but that is exactly what would happen.
Not sure how useful that is though. I mean I get having my PC on to serve as media server, etc. for other devices in my house but if my XB1 boots up and the TV still hasn't I'm still basically waiting until the TV is there to get any use out of it - or am I being silly.
Suspend mode is nice though if it halts games in same vein in Vita but the fast boot without the TV being as fast doesn't actually get you anywhere faster.

I think the idea is that because they want you to watch your TV through the XB1, it will always be ready so you are not waiting on it

That's precisely the point. The important part isn't really that it's faster than the TV, but that it's not slower, so that you don't feel limited by the console (like we do now, waiting for the dashboard to be available). When you launch the whole setup to play, you won't wait any more than you would wait to watch TV, which is supposed to be a short time.
Yeah I tend to forget that angle as it doesn't work for me and I have no interest in watching my TV through the XB1 - as I've already invested in Smart TVs with Wifi and don't have cable - but I guess I can see that, although really you're still waiting around for the TV to boot as the weak link.

Is FUD okay now if it's about Microsoft? I see people complain about it towards Sony constantly, often in many rather benign cases, but the first couple pages of every MS thread is lined with it. Garbage first post. The Xbox One is the console with the huge fan, remember? Not to mention the fact that it's weaker, standby is a lower power state and has no threat of causing such a thing making this baseless fearmongering.
