Xbox One review embargoes lift Nov 19th (Tuesday 9PM PT/12AM EST)

I don't know man, maybe I'm being too serious about it, but it does feel like MS has been giving a lot of passes. From the press trying to defend their DRM plans (not all of them, but quite a few), to most everyone downplaying the power differences between the two. We'll see though. Again that's just how it feels, ultimately I'll have to play the games myself to find out if they're good or not.

tell me the truth ..theres life on mars ?

Forza has never recieved below an 85 for a retail launch. What makes you think this will be any different?

Dead Rising 2 got an 80 and DR 3 offers everything that DR2 does but more and zanier.

I think KI will probably be in the 80s.

The other two are probably spot on though.

F1 ->> F2
231 cars ->> 349

F4 ->> F5
500+ cars ->> 200 cars
26 tracks ->> 14 tracks
No Nuburgring/ Suzuka

Lack of content is the games biggest detractor

Dead Rising 3: lost some of its colourfulness, horrible fps drops and graphic problems

KI: Lack of content for a fighter.

I suspect that they're going to get hit with complaints about little content, and considering that there's only 14 tracks and the smallest amount of cars available in the series thus far, that would appear to be valid (especially considering GT6 is on the horizon with more than twice the tracks and apparently twice the Premium cars).

Forza is in a tight spot. Moving to next gen they needed the time to build up new content to a game where content costs were spread over the last generation. Each games content can be ported up. Not so for this gen. That's why GT isn't coming and why they're making 6 on PS3. Which, I think is a mistake I think. I'm sure the Forza 5 will be stellar, but would it be good to delay the game? I don't think so. 90 percent of players won't noticed, but they'll be dinged for it in review scores.

Oh gawd. Ryse emargo, lol.

They must have run mock reviews and it fared poorly. By the same token that inspires confidence in DR3 and Crimson Dragon though.

I honestly doubt that the press for the most part will go hard on MS, they'll probably give them a few passes. For example, for Forza 5 they'll say something along the lines off "While it may lack content, this is expected from a launch title and so we can't dock points!"

For DR3 they'll probably say "Though the graphics are lacking and framerate dips freqently, The gamplay far outweighs those negatives!"

For KI, I have no idea what to make of the game, but they'll probably praise MS for having the courage to bring back an old franchise

For Ryse they'll just talk about how the graphics look amazing and that'll be that.

The XB1 Hardware itself will get higher scores overall than the PS4, I"m almost certain of that.

I'd gladly eat crow though, but from the Press's behavior in the last few months, it really seems they're going to go very easy on MS, compared to Sony.

You're forgetting something. None of that means shit when you're sitting in front of a great game saying "This is a great game".

You can review the console and hate it, hate the company, hate the policies, etc.. but you can't really deny when a game is good. Don't think that someone saying "Dead Rising is pretty fun" is immediately giving MS a pass.

Also while Forza 5 looks great, I doubt it is going to blow minds on the graphical front. So the "next gen" factor won't help the game that much either. Sub 90 MC is pretty much a given. I think 85 is a good guess.

Hopefully decent reviews. Though I honestly more interested in the Xbox review, I want to know how Kinect and TV works. I'm very excited about the UI.

It isn't by "AAA" standards.

but a game is a game at 60 dollars, AAA or not. I've enjoyed games on both ends of the 'review' spectrum and found some of the higher rated ones to be poo and vice versa.

im not saying I think it will reach unanimous 8s or 9s (maybe a few, lol) but come on now.. 6s and 7s have their place.

No, I definitely agree with you. There has been a decent number of 6 and 7 games that I have enjoyed.

I'm just stating how things are in "the biz". Anything less than an 8 average for a "AAA" game is considered a failure.

Polygon review guess

Ryse - 9.5/10 - Beautiful game with an amazing story, we just wish it was long. The combat is incredibly deep and satisfying and the multiplayer is well thought out.

Dead Rising 3 - 8.5/10 - One of the best launch games we've ever played. It took all of our critism about Dead Rising 1 and Dead Rising 2 and turned them on their faces. The game is beautiful and runs like a dream.

Forza 5 - 10/10 - The best racing franchise just reached perfection, with stunning 1080p60 graphics and new modes this is the new bar in simulation racing.

Here are my predictions:

Ryse will be obliterated. It's probably the best-looking launch title on either system but I keep hearing nothing but bad things about the rest of it.

Dead Rising 3 will be 7s and 8s. Most popular second purchase.

Forza 5 will be the PGR3 of this launch, the clear #1 choice.

Crimson Dragon, I have no idea. Could go either way.

Zoo Tycoon will be surprise package, no-one's talking about it because it's not sexy but it might wind up as one of the highest-rated and most fun games.

Christ, way to sully PGR3's pedigree with comparisons to Forza 5.

Pretty much confirms Ryse is a POS.

well, even in that case, it will still be the PRETTIEST piece of playable and controllable computer graphics shit to launch this winter...

and above that, it will be a graphical piece of shit with specialization on amputations and roman era colosseum gore.

still makes it rather special POS, not a regular POS ;)

Oh of course, heck until I play them I won't know either way. Obviously the scenario I wrote is assuming the games aren't as good as they seem. For all I know, Ryse could be the best game ever. I provably should been clearer on that, I wasn't saying that X1 games will be bad but rather that IF they were bad or didn't meet expectations, then the press would probably go easier on MS to keep the balance. Again, that is an entirely hypothetical situation, either way we'll know for sure on Friday when people have X1s on their hands

Maybe I'm still not being clear enough, it seems my comment did come out too tin foily when that wasn't my intention

Ryse: Son of Rome

Most likely Ryse will have bad reviews.
But it could just be like kotaku said and Microsoft wants to stagger the reviews to keep the Xbone in the news the whole week.

I don't think Ryse will be as low as a 5.

Even if its a 6.5-7 It will still be good. a 7 out of 10 is still a good game. Hell I've liked games before that were 5 and 6's.
