So fucking excited for the 29th now. I mean, I was previously excited for my PS4 arriving anyway, but now I'm even more excited for this beauty. Double-whammy!

I just realized something. We're likely to get some crazy videos out of Nintendo showing off multiplayer play the same way we did for New Super Mario Bros U.

Yeah, that wouldn't cause a shitstorm from raging nerds.

Nearly every review has pointed out that the game is mostly a retread. That makes plenty enough sense for why they feel it doesn't deserve a 10 to me.

Super Mario 3D World is both gorgeous and about as enjoyable as a video game can be. There is an immense amount of depth that kept me coming back for more, time and time again. This is the rare type of game that I believe ten years down the road we will be coming back and playing again and again. It’s that good. For all those worried that the Wii U was going to fall into some dark oblivion, fret not, your savior is here and its Super Mario 3D World one of the best platformers ever made.

Heaps of fun for both the new and experienced player with a balanced difficulty. Not as much post-game content as in Mario 3D Land but still loads to do after you play through it. Multiplayer is fun but gets chaotic with four players, especially in harder levels. Feels like a Mario best-of and like it is the bridge between the 3D and 2D Marios, just like 3D Land was.

I'm one of the biggest Mario fans there is, I tend to look very carefully at what works and don't work. I'm not saying the perfect scores are wrong, Im just saying that this is how I experienced it. Its a damn good game but perfect? Nah, its not in the Galaxy-league.

So you reviewed it comparing it to 64, Galaxy and 3D land and not on it own merit? So you said to yourself, if 64 and Galaxy is a 10, you will grade from there down?

Well, but if you put it that way, no game ever will get a 10, simply because there's no game lacking nothing or being completely innovative and taking no ispiration whatsoever.

While the New Super Mario series always felt pleasantly traditional and the Galaxy-games have been wonderfully innovative, Super Mario 3D World falls somewhere in the middle. It speaks to the nostalgia senses in me in an absolutely wonderful way but at the same time it offers so much fresh innovation that it always feels like I've never experienced anything like it. You just want to play around in the almost ridiculously lush and inviting world that Nintendo has created, which is the true greatness in Super Mario 3D World.

So sorry Rayman, but Mario wants his crown back as the undisputed king of platformers, and Wii U should from now on be treated as a must in your collection. Very magical, Nintendo.

Very good scores, as expected. I finally completed 3D Land last night, and even as I write this, I have an urge to pick up the game and go through a handful of levels. I can only imagine how 3D World will grab me.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do. How the fuck am I supposed to live until Thursday at midnight for this game? This is inhumane and BULLSHIT.


If I freeze myself, will one of you wake me at about 10 PM Thursday night? I have to uhhhh, smoke some stuff before I play this.

Well they are the games that came before it, in the same franchise. I'm not saying they should do the same as Galaxy, but Galaxy has more creative stuff in it (sorry for the basic English, I'm Dutch). The concept of Galaxy (the planets and gravity) made room for more creative levels and challenges. In comparison, yes, Mario 3D World feels like a step back. It's not that bad and its still very fun, but I often felt 'been there, done that' while playing, because I experienced most of it in 3D Land and the New Mario Bros-franchise. Its not a bad thing per se, but it makes for a less fresh experience, yes.

Its not that I'd score Mario 64 and Galaxy a 10 per se. Its the feeling of the game that I look at when I score a game. Its not exact science.

Try "Thursday next week" because for some reason Europeans have the luxury of not having to decide between Zelda and Mario.

I agree, just pointing out that a perfect game is a game that I can't find any negative points.
Not that I think that missing something is a fair argument.

Guys The playstation 4 is out.. Xbone will be out and this weekend and Thanksgiving I will be playing Mario and Zelda..
