I can understand being underwhelmed at the reveal (Nintendo really needs to get better at hyping games), but I don't see how you can doubt the recent footage that this would be great.

Its not just reviewers, though, its a lot of gamers as well. A lot of people went apeshit on Ebert for his opinion that video games are not art. People went all hyperbolic at that Miyamoto quote that many developers secretly want to be moviemakers.

I can appreciate interactive movie games. Fuck, I love 999 and the Ace Attorney series, which are similar in style. I just think its comical that some people take offense to a developer that wants to do nothing more than make damn fine incredible video games.

Yeah I play and like those games as well, I just hate how "gamey"-games constantly gets looked down upon because they do not "evoke mature emotions" or whatever bullshit the newest presentation-heavy movie-game does.

I didn't think the recent footage looked that good but I saw a twitch stream of it today and that convinced me. It looked like a really fun game to play.

I'm pretty sure Gamespot had very few complaints about 3D Land and then gave it an 8. Honestly forget the review scores. Every review is overhwhelmingly positive

To be fair a lot of people started munching on black flying creatures a while back. I was one of the people disappointed after the first reveal of the game...although I started my crow diet during the last couple of months when the amazing screenshots and videos first started appearing.

I'm not going to doubt EAD Tokyo 1 again lol

Seriously though.. He seems like he's on a crusade against the game on Twitter. I can appreciate that you might not like Mario games at all, but if you are reviewing a game you should try to dig a little bit deeper then rushing through the main story, barely playing any multiplayer (based on his "pointless" tweet) and then giving it a low score.

Can't say anything until I play the game, but there's always someone nowadays who doesn't like a given "9+" game. He's entitled to his opinion, but it is really difficult to bifurcate between sites doing it just for clicks, and sites legitimately assessing the critical factors of games.
