Seen a few complaints about Mario being easy. Grabbing all the stars and stamps and completing all the post-game stuff? Really not.

Basically, the final bits in 3D World are some of the hardest Mario moments. Ever. And even then it's still not done with you.

True. And this is part of the reason for the perceived media bias against the childish and gamey Nintendo that doesnt have an interest in this vision for the medium.

Its not just reviewers, though, its a lot of gamers as well. A lot of people went apeshit on Ebert for his opinion that video games are not art. People went all hyperbolic at that Miyamoto quote that many developers secretly want to be moviemakers.

I can appreciate interactive movie games. Fuck, I love 999 and the Ace Attorney series, which are similar in style. I just think its comical that some people take offense to a developer that wants to do nothing more than make damn fine incredible video games.

Nintendo wasn't going for a Galaxy game tho, they set out for a culmination of all past Mario games and not some new creative way to play Mario, so yes some of it will seem familiar. If what you are saying is true then they achieved what they set out to do.

No problem at all man, I expected that I had to defend myself for the score (I figured there would mostly be 9s and 10s, considering it is a Mario game). An 8.5 is still very high for our website. We rarely give out 10s.

I think the learning curve was perfect. Sort of eases you in well, especially if you're playing in groups. It gets hard, and post-credits can be maddening.

Metacritic really need to do something about these review scores out of 5. There's 20% difference between a 4/5 star review and a 5/5 review. There really needs to be something in between those two to stop 4/5 review scores from killing Metascores.
