Speaking of Famitsu, any news from that today? In general.

I miss the days when we always had big threads on Famitsu news, filled with scans. Now it has totally withered away and died.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Both P3 and P4 were released after the PS3 in the west ;)

PS2 was a whole different animal though. I'm sure the Persona loyal are going to turn up to this title no matter what, but missing the entire generation is just not a wise hand to play each and every time if sales growth is whats desired. Or maybe this will be on Steam as well and achieve that anyway.

Well people should know by now that Famitsu rarely teases actual substantial scoops they have. Whenever they drum shit up with "SUPER SCOOP", unless it's supposed by some other countdown or marketing from the publisher, it's usually something which isn't noteworthy!

Whenever Famitsu has real scoops people would care about, they usually only break when the issue itself is leaked. I told Nirolak about this before, he didn't believe me, then he saw that it was mostly true! :p

Weren't Persona 3 and 4 announced through Famitsu though? That does give significance to all the Persona 5 posts.

I will buy wathever system they publish persona 5 on. Persona has been my favorite franchise ever since i played Persona 3 on the PS2.

But plz don't make this IOS or andriod!

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it's really all in the system itself. The PS4 game I'm playing most is Assassin's IV, which is odd because I don't really care about visuals with regards to that game. I could've easily played it on PS3 or 360.

But the PS4 has a better OS in every sense and a better controller on top of that. For me, the most immediate next-gen advantage isn't visuals, but functionality; ease of use.

I never really took the possibility of P5 on PS4 seriously until last weekend. Since then, the less I have to play my PS3, the better.
Plus think of all the endurance runs that could be streamed.

I'm still expecting P4A2, but I'm happy if it is a combination of the P3 and P4 cast in a new game. I just want anything at this point.

Don't worry, it's just a P4U2 announcement. Or erm, a Pachislot game. It can't possibly be Persona 5. Or multiple announcements. Surely we don't want to get our hopes up. After all Teddy is on the site right.

AMIRITE?

Lulz. Yeah, they're going to do a 3 day live countdown for a major Persona team announcement and it's not going to be Persona 5? Riiiight. :p

This is the most optimistic I've ever seen you ;_; <3

BELIEVE!

Yes, and in both cases the issues came with 15-20min DVDs promoting the shit out of the game. There wasn't any teasing about SUPER SCOOPS or anything.

I was kidding. I think it will come for both PS3 and 360. No PS4 and no PS Vita (sadly).

It'll probably be PS3 exclusive in Japan, and PS360 everywhere else. Maybe PS360 + Vita.

If they want the franchise to keep growing in the West, they need to go multiplat. They've built a new engine from the game, so it won't be weird if they built it with multiplatform support in mind.

it's been obvious for a while that Atlus is intent on having characters from different Persona games actively converse and interact with each other. Not just from P4A but even since Persona 2 we've characters from past games have an active roll with the current characters.I don't know if this is just me or not, but there always seemed to be this gap between the earlier persona games (Persona 1 & 2) and the more recent ones (3&4) that keep the characters in what seems like almost separate universes.

With the next Persona game, even if we do get a new cast of characters you can bet that there will also be returning ones and it would be nice to see characters from the original two Persona games show up.

I don't actually see it that way. Just considering the gen that is coming to an end all the games that haven't gone "western" has sold better on a non Microsoft device and now with Tales of going exclusive, which I think it's strange with NB as the publisher, I'm actually worried that my less than fortunate friends will find themselves once again on the short stick of the straw.

No matter what I say and think about the company behind the Xbox it's a tad sad when a game goes exclusive that isn't created by a small company without proper funds.

Also consider that both Catherine and Arena are way different than the stock persona/smt games which I believe will never "break free" from their differently branded homes.

I don't know what to think about this anymore. On the one hand, all this effort surely has to mean it's gonna be P5, on the other hand I've seen too many countdowns resulting in meaningless mobile games that I can't help being skeptic about it.

Atlus is not Squeenix. They won't hype up something unless it's substantial (Atlus U.S.A. notwithstanding of course).

Has Atlus ever held a NicoNico stream before? Sega does it all the time which makes me wonder if the stream is a Sega-inspired and/or mandated move.

The first box will be P4A2, and then we'll have to wait 3 months for the second box, which will be a blu-ray date for the Persona 3 movie.

After 3 more months, we'll finally get Persona 5.

For Windows Phone.

I just don't want it on 3DS (because of shitty resolution and screens and region lock) and Wii U (because I refuse to buy one). And smartphones.

PS3/360, PS4/One or Vita.

Possbily unrelated but the Atlus USA forums are shutting down. One line caught my eye though:

Gather round, dear friends. We have some sad news for you – we’ve decided to close down our forums for the foreseeable future. In two weeks, we’re going to basically wipe all the content, so if you have any threads you want to save or screen cap for posterity, now is the time to do it.

Why are we going all Blockbuster Video on the forums? Two main reasons, really. First: we have awesome fans, and the overwhelming majority of them spend more time on Facebook and Twitter. In this business, it’s adapt or die, so we’re refocusing our efforts on social media. But in the great expanse of the world wide internets, you’ll find plenty of exceptional ATLUS fans – the ones who keep our game Wiki pages alive, create walkthroughs on GameFAQs, cosplay, create fan art or fan fiction, etc. So even if you actively avoid having a social media presence, we’re sure you’ll find some other great ATLUS fan community to be a part of.

Second: we have a lot of games coming out in the coming months/years, and we just don’t have the time to police the forums they way we did in the past. It’s become a barren echo chamber over the past couple of months, with no practical solution in sight (other than the Ol’ Yeller method, that is).

So there you have it. We’re pulling the plug, because its time has come. The last day the forum will be active is Friday, Nov. 22. You can still find us though. We’re alive and well on Facebook, Twitter, and our ATLUS Faithful email newsletter!

Happy Trails,

John Hardin

P5 will probably have a cat character who keeps making puns like 'Purrrsona~!' and 'Personya~!'. They do need a new Teddie after all.

"This is a purrrfect opurrrtunity for an all out attack!"

All things being equal, I would prefer to play it on PC. But that's not going to happen. Well, maybe when they do Persona 5 super golden ultra on the new consoles, it might come to PC because of the hardware similarity.

But realistically speaking it's going to be PS360, of which 360 is my platform of choice.
