Xbox One Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

Hey guys, quick question/problem

I'm no longer getting achievement popups. I just earned like 6 on killer instinct and nothing. It shows I earned them, but I never got the popup. I put in Dead Rising and same issue.

I thought it might have been a problem that the xb1 thought I was offline, but I was able to go to the store and download a free app. And I got a notification for that. However, I cannot get an online match at all for KI, despite it working for me on launch. It just sits there.

I know some don't care bout achievements, but it's really bugging me that it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

"You're all good."

Thanks Xbox One. This thing is freaking huge. I feel like it might murder me in my sleep or something and the Kinect will just watch.

Haven't messed around with it too much. Just bought and played a little bit of Killer Instinct (PARTICLES!!!). Is the Wave Race Kinect Sports deal worth the download? Can you just use a controller on it or does it require the Kinect?

That new console feeling though, such a weird and exciting time.

About Killer Instinct, how do I pay for the $20 version? I just noticed it's listed as free in my Store. Do I just like..download it for free, and pay for each character, or can I buy it all for $20 in one go?

From what I can tell games have their stores built into them, so to get upgrades you just start the game and can go to the store option (I could be wrong on this) but I do remember seeing a store option in the free version where I presume you can buy the upgrade.

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
DR3 was weird for me too. Showed 0% for a very long time, surely patching it first but I couldn't see the patch percent.

I kept getting an error when I tried to use my code, so I guess so.

Thanks, guess I'll wait!

I downloaded the free version, then went back to the store and bought and downloaded the combo break pack.

Did you mess with settings at all? Maybe check there.

I looked in my settings. Notifications were checked to all on. I turned them off, did some stuff and then turned them on again, got another achievement in Ki and still nothing.

I kind of think the no online matches is KI would be connected to this, but I dunno.

Oh god. My skype app is in Games & Apps, and it's frozen and queued. I can't force it to install or even cancel to install. It's just non-responsive. I'm starting to think something is wrong with my Xbox One, as I can't get it to install anything. Wouldn't install my game from my disc. Won't install this app. Fuck fuck fuck. :(

*takes deep breath*

Dunno what else to do. I've restarted the system twice now. Even ejected the Dead Rising 3 disc. No dice.

EDIT: If I click the Skype app on my desktop..it actually works (so i guess it was installed). Yet it says queued on my Game & Apps section. Da hell.

Mine was doing weird crap until I unplugged it since its set to sleep when telling it to turn off. I am guessing it needed to clear ram with a "real" off.

Do a full power off then turn it back on. Might work.

Guys, I know this sounds dumb. But how fucking awesome is it to walk into your room, say Xbox On, have your TV and Xbox turn on. Then saying Xbox go to Netflix, followed by Xbox select *whatever number Sunny happens to be*, all while you're getting naked and jumping into bed? WITHOUT ever grabbing the control. I fucking love this.

Just did that haha, minus the naked part...

But awesome that we don't have to use the controller at all. And kinect can handle all my commands without me having to repeat. I love it.

Edit: Went from junior to member, finally. Glorious day.

This may have been asked/answered in this thread, and I missed it, but I can't for the life of me get the Dolby Digital to work on my DirecTV box. I activated the "Surround Sound (BETA)" option, and when I go back to the TV app, I get no sound or picture. I even tried to disable Dolby Digital in the box settings, and it then let me use the Surround Sound (BETA) setting, but as soon as I turned Dolby Digital back on with the DirecTV box, picture and sound disappeared. Any ideas?

I'm so impressed that within 5 seconds I can go from my TV and Xbox being 'off' to being signed in and starting up Killer Instinct.

I'm kind of confused how the game dvd works on xbox. I was playing Dead Rising and wanted to share a clip so I said "Xbox, record that" but only recorded the last ten seconds, or at least that's what I saw when I was in the upload studio trying to trim it. I thought Xbox recorded the last 5 minutes? I have to add that I was in a cutscene a few seconds before I asked Xbox to record. Does Xbox not record cutscenes?

Also, this pic of commands says that when you say "Xbox, record that" it records the last 30 seconds. Wasn't it the last 5 minutes?

It's really friggin' cool to have the wife walk in and have her get auto logged in. Then boot up Powerstar Golf and have some multiplayer fun. It's these little things (despite other major little things being missed) that make the experience that awesome.

It's not dumb. It's exactly what this thing was designed to do, I'm glad to see people finding use for the universal voice commands since I was one of the few people who seemed to think it had some merit.

In my case, I'm finding all kinds of cool things to do with voice since I don't always have the controller near me. It's totally optional, but it really augments the controller experience. How can you not like it?

”Record that” is only for the last 30 seconds. ”Game DVR” will give you access to the last 5 minutes.

I'm really impressed at how well Live as held up. I've downloaded a crapton onto two separate XB1 consoles and have pretty much maxed out my connection the entire time.

I love the edition of "Home" console to the Xbox ecosystem.

My one gripe is that some "Ready to install"s hang around despite them having been installed and even played.

Did you disable notifications?

Hey guys, I'm loving the system so far but I wanted to see if anyone is having the same issue I am.

Sometimes after I boot up my console and try to launch a game like Killer Instinct, the splash screen comes up but it doesn't load the game and instead boots me back to the dashboard. It's happened a few times with KI and once with Kinect Sports Preseason ( with the sports one it gave an error message like it was taking too long to load as well).

Haven't had the issue with any disc games and after trying a few times both KI and Kinect Sports ran without issue.

Has anyone else seen this and is it common?

Thanks.

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?

I just did something similar. My girlfriend and I always eat watching TV so usually I have to spend time with my food sitting in front of me while I get out the remote and select what we want to watch. Tonight I did it all with voice while I was getting my food and settling in on the couch, so great.

Then it was funny later when my girlfriend got up to get something from the fridge I just paused it with my voice instead of reaching for the remote. When she came back she asked why I was looking at her and grinning, I said "go ahead and say it" so she says "xbox play" and then a huge grin when it started playing right away lol

It's a small thing but I think it's very cool.

So I just got cable and have it passing through Xbox. Looks and sounds perfect.

Except when I view my recordings, it passes stereo signal and darkens image. Is this normal of recordings or are these the issues that are due to Xbox that people were talking/complaining about?

Thanks in advance

So, because my wife is going to frustrate the everliving shit out of me with how to watch TV, I've decided to use my 360 for the pass through.

It actually works really well! I was playing Bastion while snapping Twitch. It was awesome.

Yes, I had this happen to me once and a hard reset (pulling the plug) fixed it.

Will it start the 360 on its own. Or do you have to manually turn on the the 360?

Manually. Because it turns on the cable box via the ir blaster, I think.

Not a big deal, since you're powering on the 360 with a controller.

The beautiful thing is the fact that you use voice to get to the 360. So, no juggling 2 gamepads. Its fuckin great, man.

Turning my whole TV setup on by just saying "Xbox On" is awesome -- one of my favorite features of the system. I can return to the game I left from in less than 20 seconds.

Are you saying you can generate a qr code from a $20 card? How do you do that?

I'm pretty sure you can just type the code into a QR code generator and it'll work with the Kinect camera. But at that point you may as well just type in the code on the xbox website.

I saw a couple times where it said how long people were playing games for, or at least how long I had played for. When I look for it I can't find this though.
