3D Mario is a great game and better than Knack. But you need to sell hardware to sell software *shrug*

Blame Nintendo for failing to sell the console

Fantastic news. Seeing an excellent machine do so very well is heartening in a territory that was seemingly in such a decline as the UK in recent times. Guess next gen was just the boost the market probably needed over here. Long may it continue. The salty tears of Nintendo fans in this thread serve only as seasoning for the feast ;)

Plus, it's going to be fun to be able to accurately state "Knack is more popular then Mario 3D World" in response to the aggressive Knack trolling Nintendo fans have been doing all year if nothing else :)

You know this doesnt mean jack right? The only thing thats ever held back any other console from blowing away others records was production capabilities. PS4 is easy to make so they made alot. PS4 being a mid range PC makes it easy to produce

Imagine if Nintendo had managed to have 6-7 million Wii at launch they might have sold 6 million in a month.

Last gen consoles LTD is about 250mln (if we count only home consoles) with few games reaching 20mln sales.


Console gaming is stronger than ever same as PC.

I've not got a PS4 and I wouldn't by Knack anyway. Paying £50 + for video games is ridiculous.

But relative to Nintendo. In terms of the WiiU. I'm not longer going to support them as a company. I feel they don't deserve it.
Which is why I'm going to only buy second hand games on that platform unless Nintendo have a strong rethink about their pricing policies especially on eShop.

(Apart from maybe Zelda U when it comes out if they haven't fucked it up using Cell shading shite etc...)

1m per month in China, 16m per year with Japan as well, so about 1.3m per month at the moment. During the ramp up it will have been much lower though, which is why there wasn't enough stock to feed both the US and Europe.

By my estimate they should only have just reached peak production rates, consoles leaving the production line at the beginning of November will arrive in Europe in about a week and in the US around 10 days from now. That shipment will last through to the new year, after that the situation will get better as regular shipments begin.

uhh I'm referring to console decline from last gen to this new gen. Do you think ps4/xbone /wiiu total will outsell ps3/360/wii ?

Maybe, just maybe, my fellow UK residents have grown sick and tired of Nintendo releasing Mario games/sequels/spin-offs/sequels-to-spin-offs at such an alarmingly frequent rate and have demonstrated their disinterest as such. Maybe Nintendo should stop relying on their mascot so much, and instead of phoning it in by releasing brand-diluting instalments like Mario Party: Island Party and yet another Mario Golf, they should spend that time and those resources on something new and exciting instead.

Congrats to Sony for proving that the console market is still very much alive and kicking.

No, but I expect PS4/Bone to do at least as well as PS3/360 (~13.5m) and for third parties to prosper on the main platforms.

And I think demand is so strong for PS4 that they will sell all of those PS4. Imagine a year from now with 16 million PS4s in peoples homes. That's quite a user base.
