IS S2 Ep. 10

Last comes the story moment. Tabane's back! Finally, that took long enough.
She's seen being proselytized by the villain group -- their leader wants personal ISes, and Tabane won't give them. So they attack, but Tabane crushes them since she's that awesome, even though one attacks in an IS and Tabane doesn't have one, at least not shown yet. Yeah, Tabane's good at everything apparently. Then she reverses herself and decides to give Madoka a personal IS anyway. Sure, she's apparently an Orimura, but we don't really know who/what she is... but I guess Tabane does. Well, giving her a personal IS will make thins harder for the goodguys for the last few episodes, for sure. I wonder if she'll end up changing sides, or something... wouldn't surprise me.

When the episodes are this bad, yes, it is kind of hard to watch. It took me a while to force myself to actually sit through this whole disastrously bad episode.
Once I read your post, I realize I miss the ending when the "main" story came back.

It's kinda hard , especially since they don't follow the book at all for plenty of characters.
You all might not believe me but the author actually had plenty of character devellopement for the girls and none of this (cooking, going commando, birthday party stuff )
A total shame this adaptation..
I will take your word for it.

Something Something Quartet - 01

Ok so I literally started this show based solely on that cat girl hair rubbing gif. And I instantly love it. The animation fits the setting and story so damn well, I love all the characters, the fanservice is tasteful, and never at an expense to what's happening around it.

Two big thumbs up so far

It gets better, in my opinion. By far my favorite show this season.

lol

Quartet - 02

Ok it's stepping up a little, but everything else is so wonky that the sexual jokes and panty shots never feel forced like other animes.
LOOKING AT YOU INFINITE STRATOS

The kid god with his sisters is the only part that feels kinda weird, but I guess it's supposed to? Idk. The skirt scene with the nurse had me laughing my ass off, though.

Ayato had the best lines especially when he was like we'll get to know him intimately and feeling him from head to toe. Raito with the blushing and line saying lets fly to the moon to make love among the stars was also amazing. Incredible.

I think the ending was its weakest moment
I Guess I was expecting more than just taking the mixture to seal away Cordelia, and offering Pancake the choice to be vampire or not. But then giving us all the characters speaking directly to us for their love choices made it all worth it.
.

Still was an excellent ride through the season with a great ost used smartly to make it truly frightening and scary at times, and the character traits and vas were perfect. Pancake will be more, more for her devotion speech earlier on in the series, really stuck out and made her really more memorable than the large portion of femleads. Ayato was the best through and through.

I cant wait for our next otome anime.

I never thought I'd hear somebody say the fanservice was tasteful in Yozakura Quartet.

In fact most of the people here that I've read have started out with "oh look panty shots, I guess I can live with them" to "was that even necessary?" to "now it's just harming the show for being unnecessary"

For what it's worth, I like the fanservice. I didn't feel like it was worth mentioning, but if people are going to assume that absolutely no one likes it...

Hasn't bothered me one bit.

I don't think anyone actually likes fanservice around here. It just feels... unnecessary and insulting to me as a viewer.

Despite enjoying what I initially watched Full Metal Panic! It did reach a point where it became so pervasive, that I began to question whether or not it was something I wanted to continue with.

Any good SoL anime in the vain of Fruits Basket or Ouran High School Host Club?

Despite enjoying what I initially watched Full Metal Panic! It did reach a point where it became so pervasive, that I began to question whether or not it was something I wanted to continue with.

I'm like 9 episodes into it now, and yeah it mostly just leaves me saying "Really?"

I actually giggled a bit at two different people with Kill La Kill avatars saying something neutral/positive about the fanservice. Nothing against KlK or you guys, just found it amusing.

I guess relative to the context of a show, as some are clearly predicated on those sort of elements. Others, it's really jarring, and just serves to undermine any sort of atmosphere that you're trying to establish. In this case, it felt extremely conspicuous whenever it appeared.

Pancakes

hot, steaming, as melted butter slips into the cracks, drizzled with sticky sweet syrup OH GOD
Fan service can be okay. I wouldn't say I actually like it, but I realize that it has its time and place. Once it becomes too frequent I just start getting annoyed and end up losing interest.

I dont even remember there being any. Guess that shows how innoculated to it I am.

The KyoAni made Fumoffu and Second Raid after it had none (well, discounting the twincest) so we know FMP can be done without the lame fanservice. Gonzo is just crass like that.

These illustrate my point though. For this community at least, fanservice is at best innocuous fluff and at worst a turnoff. For example, the unnecessary crassness of the uniform in KLK nearly turned me off from the whole show.

Toriko Episode 133 - Protect Komatsu! Toriko vs Starjun

Intense showing for this fight, I cant wait to see it get more intense. Need to evacuate everyone so Toriko can just go all out Starjun too.

Music for Sunny's scene was one of the best on the soundtrack.

The most unassuming shots and situations, somehow managed to contrive an up-skirt shot. There was also their fondness for having lingering focus on underwear, whenever they wanted a transition between scenes.

It definitely became less common as the series progressed, but it was something that was definitely noticeable.

Stopping in to say Happy Birthday to Watanabe Kazuma!
Have a good one. :)

Thanks! Though I realize that you're thinking about my Birthday before I am!

You've must have watched it a long time ago or watched some censored version or something. Pantyshots of Chidori are rather frequent.

Not that long ago...but in a world with the likes of Maken-ki and Love-Ru, an occasional pantyshot is easy to forget. Thats said I do find the japanese obsession and titilation over panties odd.

There are people here who actively enjoy and seek out fanservice, such as Zach and Theonik, so you can't generalize too much.

I'm of this mindset as well. I don't get up in arms about it since I understand the appeal. But I'm not too fond of certain shots in Yozakura Quartet being staged in such a way specifically for it when the show works fine without it.

I'm think I've heard enough consistent praise for it to finally give it a shot. I have zero Gundam experience, also.

Blind leading the blind!

Happy birthday, btw.

It's really Gonzo that does that. Afterward there isn't nearly as much fanservice. Off the top of my head I can only really name 4 instances between TSR and Fumoffu. And with the Manga thrown in there are a couple more, but across some 15 volumes of post TSR content in Sigma that's not that bad.

The KyoAni made Fumoffu and Second Raid after it had none (well, discounting the twincest) so we know FMP can be done without the lame fanservice. Gonzo is just crass like that.

ALL FMP SPOILERS
The four examples are the virus from the end of Fumoffu, the Onsen episode of Fumoffu which is equal op, the twincest from TSR which is sort of disservice and the scene where Chidori is running around in just panties in TSR. By which I mean she is running for her life. In fact basically all the fan service from TSR on falls into categories like this. Like in one of the last volumes you see Chidori naked, but she's also not at all herself and Sousuke is in the middle of telling her exactly why their relationship has been pretty fucked up all along, so the nudity is sort of diminished by the massive plot going on around it. Puns puns puns.

I like fanservice sometimes (Well, if it appeals to me of course) but if it's done too frequently and too intensely it loses its effect and just makes me feel like a voyeur.Unless I'm watching it for that specific purpose.

Eh, I didn't really intend to paint with that broad of a brush but I just wanted to differentiate the prevailing wisdom in this community versus the general anime fandom who do enjoy these things (otherwise it wouldn't exist).

Fanservice, to me, is an eyesore and actively detracts from my enjoyment of a show. At the best of times, it is something I put up with but at the worst of times, I actively drop shows because it is not compelling enough to get me to put up with all the pantyshots. (I am of course talking about the T&A version of fanservice so I hope no one tries to be a wiseass and gives a literal interpretation)

Well that was an extremely hilarious episode
well even with Naruko's tears there
. First year rivalry (Naruko/Imaizumi) is intense and the best part, and then Toudo having what seemed to be Hakkenden's Shino's voice (most pleasing part) hypes me up for more time with that team. Ready for this next arc of sorts to take off.
