You didn't? I certainly did even if I didn't know the proper term.
I just knew certain games would "slow down" and it'd be pretty annoying.

I'm certainly not going to put fingers in my ears and pretend everything is fine. Good games or not.

Exactly.

There's a difference between playable and frustrating. When a game is something that requires PRECISE inputs, a CONSTANT and preferably HIGHER framerate is ESSENTIAL.

Seriously. If the framerate isn't constant, your timing continually needs to change on inputs. So for the action games (Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, etc.) the game needs to have these things. Same holds true for fighters and is the reason I will take up my sword in defense of MK9 when people start complaining about the bad textures and low polycount in the models. Nothing is more annoying than having a move come out that wasn't what you inputted in a game that requires precision and timing.

Racing games feel like you're moving faster and give you more of a sense of speed. Everything benefits from it, really, because more frames will make the animations more fluid.-- but it's not required to be locked (depending on how far it moves -- see God of War 3 for an example of doing this right).

G-R-E-A-T for you guys. Continue to enjoy complaining about framerates, native resolution, and how bad the games are.

I'll continue to play the games. If it's gameplay is inheritely bad, I'll probably complain. If not, I don't care at all.

Do you like taking photos? If so, digital (1393MB). Very good camera app and the bookmarks make it easy. Not to mention the levels are a joy to play through, though there isn't a buttload of them.

Otherwise, physical, something you can load up and enjoy every now and then.

Vita as a horrible camera so no I don't enjoy it. I want to buy the digital version to be honest but I'm scared it'll become free on PS+ one day.

It will be worth it to play it now. I agree about the camera, but I meant the in-game camera for tearaway - has different lenses and filters and the game's lighting and creative world makes it a pleasure to just walk about in first person and take pictures (not screenshots).

Was reading some of the impressions and it occurred to me. I don't care if it goes free on PS+ later down the line. It'd be nice to have a physical and a digital copy of the game but it probably wouldn't go free for another few months anyway. I wonder if it would be a candidate for the yearly IGC or if that would go to LBP

I was playing Crazy Market a lot until I decided to cheat the system and set my Vita's clock ahead to get more coffee cups. I then updated my Vita's firmware which fixed the time, and so now I have ages before the next free coffee drops, haha.
:O explainnn lol

So I can set the clock forward and get unlimited coffee? I don't understand what you mean by the firmware thing. If I set the time back to normal after I've had my fun, will I end up in the same position as you waiting forever to get more coffee? Or did a firmware update mess things up for you?

Couldn't tell you im afraid...I reckon Tearaway has a better chance due to LBP being already well known so easier normal sales potential long-term...but who knows, I dunno. And you're right a digital + physical copy would be nice if you are a long-term subscriber.

They're both the same price in USA atm right? Saw a thread saying amazon has it digitally for $20 and some store is selling it retail for $20 too.

sorry :p Got a decent physical collection already? Tearaway will be a nice one to add to the pile but for me digital was the right call. Love that camera and the game - and barely rely on PS+ these days... should I buy SS? lol, nevermind £15, will just renew ps+ probably, been missing big sky infinity and when vikings attack :p also nlks never got finished and I sold my gravity rush :'( Will be nice to get those back I guess. anyway. Nice to take a break from star-hunting in Sonic racing, just playing the grand pix on medium is so much more chill then these last few stars on expert!

Having played a game to completion doesn't prove anything one way or the other. You may have enjoyed it, and I own the game as well, but how either of us feel doesn't change any of the technical realities. "That old BS" implies a lot about a broader effort to discredit the game.

Hoo boy. I wash my hands of this, particularly since you're now recommending a game you haven't even played (and I also own).

Dude, stop the hyperbole. NGS+ is not an unplayable mess, not even close. Plenty of people here played and found it perfectly playable. And my plat prove that I played the game a lot of time, so a random third party should take my word seriously. trying to make the game a new ps3 Bayonetta disaster won't do any favours. And please, level up your reading comprehension. I was saying that PS3 NGS2 is awesome. Not the vita version.

My physical collection consists of Killzone Mercnary and Soul Sacrifice. :lol

Haha, stop making me stress over this decision. I can't make it!

useless I know, sorry :p Digital vs retail is always a tough call, I like to tip my toes in that asteroid field every now and then, been going digital firmly for a while now. Although it has its own problems as well.

You and I seem to be having different conversations. You're bringing in weirdly specific things you think I'm implying.

Sly Cooper is $10 on Amazon (both retail physical and digital) .. is it worth playing?

I'm in the third time period, and still enjoying it. That price makes it an easy "yes" with my taste (I like adventure games), and the worst things I can say about it are load time is so-so and it's similar enough to earlier games that it could feel like territory that's already been tread if you played those obsessively. The writing/voice acting is still really charming, and the bizarre variety from playing with the different characters doesn't overstay its welcome.

Every half hour the game gives you a free coffee cup to a limit of three over 90 minutes. I'd use those three, and then set my Vita's internal clock ahead a few hours to get three more. When I updated my Vita's firmware it reset the clock back to the proper time. Naturally, the game's counter recognized all of the cups I used so the next free cup wasn't for another month or so.

I probably could have gotten around that by playing with the clock again, but by that point I couldn't be bothered.

And I platinum'ed Bayonetta on PS3... the technical problems there not bothering me until I was completing infinite climax mode...

Dropping the game's framerate in half may be tolerable for people who aren't sensitive to framerates (discounting the slowdown that occurs fairly regularly) and it may be "good enough" for you, but just because you found it perfectly playable doesn't mean others will. Personally, I think it was a stupid decision to keep the game native res and drop the framerate and I'm glad I didn't pay money for my copy.

Look at J&D collection on Vita. You have those that say the framerate is an atrocity and they quit playing. You have others that say it's not ideal, but they enjoyed their time with the game immensely.

It is what it is. IT'S NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA AT HALF THE FRAMERATE WITH SLOWDOWN. It also has horrible controls for the bow.

That's what people considering the game should be informed of. Period. If you're personally able to enjoy it, great, good for you -- but there is a possibility that someone you tell that the game is perfectly playable to will be PISSED at you for saying so after they spend the money on the game.

Don't do it! Listen to one of the 4.27% of people who think it's overrated anime nonsense!

Get Super Stardust Delta, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus (if you've not played it before) and Sine Mora. Honest! You (might) thank me later!
Thanks for the different suggestions! It's good to know what a variety of people like. But it seems most people like Persona so I think I'll give it a go.

Also get a PS+ card and accumulate the free games while you play tearaway and Persona. By the time you finish Persona, the next big rpg, FFX and FFX-2, will probably be released and you can hop on that. If you really like niche rpgs, the Atelier series is great as well.

Oh, and of course, welcome to vita-gaf.
I'm definitely doing PS+, no question. Thanks for the welcome!

Totally off-topic question, (though I completely "second" your philosophy for buying):

I know it's an existing phrase, but is your username in reference to 999/Virtue's Last Reward? Inquiring minds want to know.

Guys just a dumb question about Tactics Ogre. I'm at the very beginning, and just got recruits for the first time. How do I heal, use magic, etc? I'm so confused

Started playing Tearaway and about a third of the way through it. I'm not really feeling it, but not hating it either. Props to the devs for using the gimmicky functions of the Vita without it feeling tacked on. Hit a few areas where the in-game camera view was blocked by something. It's decent so far, but the game is starting to lose my interest.

What do you guys use to draw things in the game?

Do *NOT* use something that will scratch your precious Vita's screen (like someone posted that they did on this forum).

I use this for anything touch screen related, hate getting fingerprints on the Vita

I can't believe I already bought it last week too. I should have waited on this amazing deal.

Haha, who says sarcasm is the lowest form of wit?

anyone interested doing a vitaGaf killzone match?

I may be up for a few matches during the holidays (if I'm not playing Terraria, Spelunky, SFxT or UMvC3). As long as the mp isn't region-locked (I have a JP copy), I'll be on UK time. Add me on PSN for any of the above games (same ID as on here).

That old BS will never get away, will it?

My plat on NGS+ tell you otherwise. NGS+ is fine.

Wow, congrats! I've been thinking about picking this up for a while. I want to feel some NG nostalgia and the idea of having it portable is kinda strong... I'm not a seasoned PS3 veteran or anything, so I doubt I'd even notice the graphical changes. All about that classic ninja gameplay, mang.

Is there any particular reason why Terraria's price in Vita is so bonker ridiculous when compared to the other platforms? License fee or maybe something like that? Or maybe "those Vita people are desperate they will buy anything at any price so why not?"

Speaking of, how big is the digital download for GoW Ascension? Is it worth it?

I might get Limbo Vita for that kind of price, hmmmmm.

I'm going to bet that if it is a reference to a game it's going to be Persona 3

34gb. Personally, I'd find a retail disc.

LIMBO on Vita was totally worthwhile -- if you like the game or have never played it.

I'm tempted to pick it up as well. Got it when it first came out on 360 but never finished it. Game just never clicked with me. Hoping having it on a portable device will spark my interest.

I'd had it on PC forever... yet my gaming PC wasn't yet built and it was on sale a few months back for <$7. I love playing things on Vita, so I gave it a go... it's cross-buy too.
I will say that I did not enjoy trying to get that "die 5 or less times during the game" trophy. :\

gonna try some gad damn Spelunky. Let's see if the hype was warranted!

I voted Spelunky as my GOTY in the Steam thread. :p

I don't have a problem with either NG's on Vita, finished them both. But one thing's for sure, NGS2+ makes the first game's frame rate seem a whole lot better!
I think it was Chapter 10 ( cogs in a tower ), it was a solid 5-10fps for the whole section.

Still, as slow and unacceptable as it is, that it was released in such a state, the moves were somehow still responsive and i just slogged through until it was over. The game is good regardless and still impressive for a portable.

After i finished i nabbed the 360 version for $5 for the next time i want to play though... but it's not like that or the ps3 version is immune from drops either.
The first game on Vita is at least smooth for the majority of the game, it's just with the original being so consistent on xbox, it's a harder pill to swallow.

I believe $15 was the launch price on the other non-mobile platforms.

Oh gawd.. What have I done? Since rebuying a vita I've purchased spelunky and P4G! I have a head cold so I stayed home from work today and put in like 13 hours today in Persona. Oh and spelunky... This is going to be a bad relationship. I am already hooked.

You planted the seed of cheat in my head and now I'm doing it as well. ~_~

Some of those later levels are cheap as hell. I'm on level 50 now I figure I'll try and 100% this and be done with it.

Can we stop this bullshit? Terraria is sometimes on sale on Steam but the price right now is €9.99 for me.
People always compare the price to some Steam sale prices which are not representative for the price these games have all the year. Yes, Steam sales happen often and there are things like the Humbe Bundle. Still, Terraria isn't a $2 game on Steam.
BTW, Limbo costs €9.99 right now on Steam and Knytt Underground €8.99. OMG, RIDICULOUS PRICING ON STEAM. GABEN AM CRY.

G-R-E-A-T for you guys. Continue to enjoy complaining about framerates, native resolution, and how bad the games are.

I'll continue to play the games. If it's gameplay is inheritely bad, I'll probably complain. If not, I don't care at all.

Ok, I will....?
Pretty sure I play the same games and have just as much fun.
I can just point out weaknesses when I see and feel them.
