How do you get the new gear that isn't bought with Sparks?

HQ Ark Angels/DM I guess.

The 117 stuff from sparks is pretty nice, and its also cool the way you can trade vouchers to the eminence npc's for any sort of currency or RME upgrade items.

My only concern is that I suspect its going to have a very fast burn-rate like Skirmish, I made just shy of 12k sparks in a couple of hours tonight. Admittedly getting the "first time" triple bonus helped, but given that I've already unlocked a couple of tier2 regimes -which stack with repeatable t1's- I can see it being possible to cap points real fast if you make a determined effort to grind it out.

I didn't realize at first it was possible to set several Eminence tasks simultaneously - that being said, I did just that once I finished the Tutorial category, found one of the tasks involved getting exp while level capped, so off to Gusgen I went.
I'll probably take my lowest job at any given times through the easier eminence tasks to help raise them a bit.

Stangely, the area category in eminence only covers the original areas and Adoulin - such neglect for Aht Urghan and others... maybe in a later update...

The ability to buy skill-up tomes with the eminence sparks seemed nicer before I realized you get about 0.2 skill points for each. Still, skill > gear.

I love how the NPC dialogue for Trust references quests and missions you completed before - for Curilla, she even referenced a matchmaking quest for Trion where she wasn't even directly involved, but was an interested party.
For Excenmille, however, not much - ballista and WotG. Some devs seem to like him, but either they didn't give him much to do or I need to do more Sandy quest lines...

Prollu gonna delay my Windy Trust until I'm done with THF AF for Ms Mihgo... I wonder if she references the moogle expansion events...

Does the "turning into a DQ slime" Monstrosity stuff require some time dedicated into Monstrosity beforehand? Or can I do it after just doing the opening Monstrosity quest?

I don't think so. I'm going to start it this weekend myself, never done monstrosity before, so here's hoping.

1. To the person who asked who would vote for Naji in the NPC poll... ME! I DID IT! AND I AM PROUD OF IT!

2. The dialogue tables for those Trust NPCs is apparently INSANE. People are reporting Ayame mentioning the MNK AF quest - which she isn't even the biggest part. And as for Excenmille, one LS member has done a LOT of Ballista. A LOT. And he reported Excenmille mentioned the fact he participated in the Ballista Battle Royale that happened YEARS AGO.

Really hoping someone finds those tables and posts them one day, cause that sounds amazing.

Yeah the Trust NPCs can have a lot to say you recruit them, but it depends on your history with them. Kupipi must have talked for 15 minutes for me (originally from Windurst, etc.), while Ayame had like 2 lines of text. :(

Sadly I haven't done many quests, so the Trust people didn't have much to say to me. Only notable thing was Naji mentioning the WAR AF quest (I think?)

I did a handful of Yorcia runs this morning before work, 13,200 exp/bayld for 3 imprims and about a 5 minute run. I hear that Marjami is better though, larger reward and shorter run. No idea on Kamihr, I don't have access yet.

1. To the person who asked who would vote for Naji in the NPC poll... ME! I DID IT! AND I AM PROUD OF IT!

I asked that, and it's fine, I just tend to prefer the likes of Pagdako/Iron Eater among the mythril musketeers.
Then again, I voted Dalzakk, of all people (the NPC that welcomed me to Bastok, abd the thing about him adopting that Elvaan girl Michea was kinda neat).
Back then I tossed in a mention of Curilla too even if you were only supposed to pick 1 character, so glad she made it - she had a lot to say.

Fun fact - if you make a tank NPC party, Curilla + Naji + Excenmille, the mib's pretty locked on Curilla, but Naji still takes the mist damage - must be the lack of shield, but it kinda fit how reckless he act on that Bastok mussion where you have to take down 30 copper quadavs, IIRC.

Also on the topic of NPC preferences, pancakes mentioned Naja, yet "trust" isn't something that comes to mind for soneone who indebts her employees instead of paying them, not to mention the recurring threats of violence - Shantotto can claim scientific curiosity (plus a nod to Project Shantottofication) despite ger attitude, but Naja's a thougher cookie... Unless the story involved her getting paid to take part, I guess.

2. The dialogue tables for those Trust NPCs is apparently INSANE. People are reporting Ayame mentioning the MNK AF quest - which she isn't even the biggest part.

I can confirm this - real surprising, as Monk was my first job and I finished its AF lobg before I finished Bastok missions, so I varely remember Ayane comung up - then again, during that she mentioned the original Cornelia a bit and how she was a former mythril musketeer, which gelped make sense of it.
Oddly, I think she mentioned the events of the final Bastok fight between Zeid and Voljer before the ones of the mission that involved Norg and Ifrit's Cauldron, so sequence be damned?...

And as for Excenmille, one LS member has done a LOT of Ballista. A LOT. And he reported Excenmille mentioned the fact he participated in the Ballista Battle Royale that happened YEARS AGO.

Ditto - with this level of detail, I wouldn't be syrprised if they added flippin' Mumor and had her report her whole sumner events stories where/if you helped her - if was pretty surprising to see her referenced in Dissidia after she'd just appeared once when that game was released, so...

Kupipi's all Windurst missions and the Portal Charm quest, I guess?
When I did those missions I recall the ladies in waiting in Heaven's Tower usually had something new to say whenever you had avreason to go up there even if talking to them was completely optional - I guess even if Kupipi's focus ends up being narrow she'll still have quite a bit to say.

So this return home thing is odd, my buddy who played for a few years, reinstalled to check out the Seekers content since it's supposed to be free atm, but he isn't able to flag the first quest to get in, he was able to login again though.. but yeah.

Oh no it's got it's hooks in me again. Been having fun travelling and unlocking all the homepoint crystals. Messed around with Records of Eminence and am finding it to be very addictive. Already got a nice LV 50 axe for my BST with the sparks. Smacked some slimes around for a bit. Dunno about the rewards, because they seem to be just for show. lol at the classic DQ miss sound effect being in here.

But coming back to the game after so long and looking at that currency chart....WTF!? The only one I know about is conquest points and the eminence sparks. I have so much catching up to do.

I think I am going to spend some time unlocking every job and taking them to LV 30 or so. There is something so relaxing about those early levels. Just collecting crystals and watching the level ups come super fast.

The best thing about Marjami is that you get to run through Foret De Hennetiel on the way. 6 imprims can yield 25k xp/bayld per run, and its not a bad trip at all.

Its what's ensured I've never ever had to worry about bayld on any of my chars. Courier coalitions are also absolutely amazing for levelling low-level chars provided you have access to sneak/invis - although if you are looking strictly for xp gain you have to remember that you cannot gain more than a single level with any one reward, so it pays to plan to order things/use x imprims with TNL in mind.

Sure, but the point is that there is no "running through" anything at the moment - you can use the homepoint teleporting to jump very close to the target bivouac without breaking the supply package.

Additionally, made it to magnate for Couriers and did a bunch of Kamihr deliveries last night.. 19,800 for 3 imprims to bivouac #3.

he installed from that website, he formatted since he last played.

Only thing I can think of is he doesn't meet some prereq for getting access. Check the update notes from around March of last year and find the seekers update. It should have the information.

Probably thf and pup for me first. Sch I need to +1 a bunch.

Leaning towards a couple Dancer pieces probably, some massive boosts to Waltz and other JAs over what I have now...
Need to research the White Mage stuff...

From what's been said on BG, it seems like you get the fully updated client, but can still only access whatever areas you already had access to. Whether this is the intended behavior, I have no idea. Seems to go against the spirit of the promotion, so maybe it's not working right.

Hmm, need to figure out what pieces of reforge armor I want first...

Same here - MNK's my main, but for the time being the skirmish stuff (everything but head and legs) and empyrean +1 pieces (the rest) are working out decently, so I'm sure sure where to start, especially with the sparkle curreny making it simpler to tackle.

It's interesting that the reforged BLU body has the advantage of both classic AF +blue magic bonus and the relic armor's refresh, so it's a stronger contender later down the line, but for my actual main job I'm not sure yet.

On the Trust thing, it crosses my mind that for all the stuff those NPCs reference, CoP quests seem to be left out - at least in Ayame's case, since she initiates a series of movalopolos quests, but referenced none of them even if I've finished that quest line...

Can I solo Jyeshtha, Capricornus, and Chesma? I need to do their trials so I can get a WoE weapon and unlock Ukko's Fury.

So I started playing this and have reached a brick wall. I am LV 50 BST and not sure what to do about my armor. I have a hodgepodge of crap from LV 15-35 but when I went to try the AH for stuff it was pretty barren with few things on sale for what I needed. Then I tried out the NPC armor vendor in Jueno and was shocked at how expensive everything was.

Any advice on what to do for gil nowadays? My crystal prices are plummeting incredibly fast and the only thing I know right now is farming Black Tiger Fangs to sell to npc vendors. Maybe I am just being precious with my 40,000 gil, but it is bothering me how expensive stuff still is. I wish there were armor rewards for the eminence quests, because the weapons there are incredibly convenient.

Weird, I guess I had assumed you could buy armor too, but I guess I never looked. At 50, you're at least in range of acquiring your AF. In the meantime, and until you're up to level, it looks like RoE actually awards pieces of armor for some things. Bgwiki seems to be lacking here (no surprise, due to high-level focus), but ffxiclopedia seems to have a more complete set of information: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Records_of_Eminence

As for gil, if you can get the beitetsu or riftborn boulder rewards from RoE, selling those should provide a good chunk. Not nearly as much as they did before the patch, but if you're sitting on 40k, still a sizeable amount. Also, make sure to check your mog garden each day - it's basically free gil even if you only NPC the stuff that you get.

Edit: Oh, and if you're on Sylph (what's your character name?), ask in the linkshell if someone can make you stuff. Materials are often much more readily available than midlevel gear itself.

Thanks for the info. The Beitetsu reward sound pretty good, but still kinda tedious to get. I did just unlock several new jobs so I can probably kill a lot of low LV enemies with no issue.

Name's Landes on Sylph. I was in the LS ages ago but got booted for inactivity. I always keep coming back to the game but never stick around long enough to do anything lol

Just noticed the mog garden the other day. Will check that out in more detail next time i'm on.

Empyrean Tuesday tonight? I don't think I'm going to make it. I just joined a boxing gym and although I tried to make sure my Tuesday nights are always free it unfortunately didn't work out that way this week. I've got some errands to run afterwards so I don't think I can make it late either.

Was it one of the old stars of destiny pearls? That got remade a few times, you weren't booted. The LS I'm running is called IHOP and you can hit up myself or anyone with a sack (see the spreadsheet in the OP) for a pearl.

Why don't you like word art?

What kind of stuff are you looking to see in action specifically? Maybe I can take some footage.

There's also a bunch of media here: http://www.bluegartr.com/forums/60-FFXI-Media

I haven't seen much of Trusts, the newer areas, hnms, etc.

This guy basically nails it:
Hello there people of Vana'Diel! I have long since retired and don't plan on coming back (I just don't have time).
I get my FFXI fix through online videos and/or screenshots. Or the main site. Does anyone have videos of some of the new areas in SoA like Kamhir Drifts or Woh Gates or Yorcia Weald (etc etc)?
Kamhir Drifts has a lovely song[1] , very chill, would love to hang out there heh.
There's not much out there :(
I know you guys are busy playing, but some of us would really appreciate it.
Thank you and long live Vana'Diel.

I even helped him out with random stuff I found online.

I don't know about recent stuff, but on Youtube there's a japanese user by the name Chochoroon, I think, which has some amazing videos that cover up to WotG at least - I'm posting from my phone, so it's hard to get a link, but highlught for me are stuff like the videos with subtle animations in the environments, and highlights of some Campaign commanders and freelancers, invluding stuff like their unique weaponskills - it's been a while since I watched those, but some of the foitage must have been a vhallenge to get, especially since some of it is being fought in beastman strongholds of the past.

Oddly, Youtube seems to lack dome remarkable quest cutscenes, like the one for serpent general Mihli Aliapoh, who's set to become a Trust NPC.
