I had a pretty funny experience running around last night.

I ran into two guys outside of a building coming at me and I had my headset turned off (was just playing with monitor speakers) so I couldn't talk back to them. I had a shovel taken out so when they said "Hello! Don't worry, we're friendly.." as they passed by, I switched from my shovel to a pen because I hit 2 instead of 1 on my hotkeys...

Unless its being throttled for that guy. I had the 8350 before, was getting the same issues in the mod, though my board wasnt the best.

I killed my first 2 players today and I actually feel bad about it, haha.

I was laying down in a forest, looking through my inventory, when I heard 2 players talking over direct chat. They seemed to be strangers but they had met up and they were talking about how fun dayz is.
As they passed me and went down the road I shot one of them with my rifle. I thought I had killed him as he fell down onto the floor but I had in fact broken his legs.

They didn't know where the shot had come from and were panicking trying to 'fix' the injured player. I then shot the 'healthy' player in the legs and he fell down too. I left them for a while and then I showed myself and walked over to them.
They were begging me to help them and not kill them. I shot them both.

Poor guys. Memorable first kills. Hopefully they'll get their revenge one day lol

These 2 posts simultaneously make me want to instantly start playing the game but also make me expect to be extremely pissed off at it. I guess one should expect almost everyone to be hostile for no reason in this game?

Kind of what ruined GTA Online for me. Is it worth playing even if you're 'solo' and don't have a group of friends to team up with?

I updated my drivers a week ago, but it seems like they just released a new update, I have my fingers crossed

How does the blood mechanic work? If my buddy and I have the same blood type, can I give him blood from myself without severe repercussions? Blood test is the only way to know blood type? Also, does blood regenerate passively?

I actually met friendly people today, surprised the hell out of me. I traded weapons with a couple of guys who could've easily killed me and took mine without me even seeing them.
Then of course, a zombie glitched through a building, tapped me on the arm and I bled out. For some reason it glitched and refused to let me tear up my shirt.

Don't know if this would help, but the game isn't based off of the Arma engine, it's based off of the helicopter simulator engine? No idea if it would be any different, heard it on the Idle Thumbs podcast today.

Maybe some changes to the Arma engine have not been replicated to the helicopter one? That would explain the performance difference?

How do I clear sickness? I had some antibiotics I looted from Cherno before heading North, but they didn't seem to work. I also tried taking some vitamins (dafuq these for) and no worky work.

How long has it been since you took the antibiotics, and how many did you take? It takes a while before the sickness clears up after taking them.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for an illness to go away after taking antibiotics. Or you may need to take charcoal tablets if you have food poisoning.

It took 1-2 hours for my illness to go away after taking antibiotics.

Unparked my CPU and I saw a preflight noticeable increase in my FPS.

I can't bring myself to purchase this after seeing everyone here complaining about the awful performance. My biggest hope for the SA was a significant performance boost over the mod. Sounds like performance will just get worse once they start raising the zombie density, I have ZERO faith that Rocket can iron those out over time when the rest of their product is such jank.

Performance is probably the standalone's saving grace right now. I get solid 60fps with the occasional hiccup (could be server spawning something in or whatever, happens in the mod too).

Optimization is generally one of the last things that goes into game development. If you are looking for performance improvements, then they haven't looked into them at all yet.

Maybe in 6 months or so, but there is no point in really focusing on optimizing now, then ripping out that code and rewriting it down the line.

I posted this the other day, has some good advice.

My advice is spawn in, and run north. The towns near the spawn are picked clean and dangerous, there are riches to the north.

Framerate also tanked a lot when You zoomed in with RMB.
I want some info, how standalone handles those scenarios.

Some EU servers have day light , others have night. You can tell if you read the description/name of the server , sometimes it says "DAYLIGHT 24/7" or something similar.

Server admins can mess with it. Alot of 24 hour day servers now.

After posting about my story of killing 2 innocent players, I just got my comeuppance. I got chased by 3 guys with machine guns through a town. Absolutely thrilling chase but I got wounded and they ordered me to lay down on the floor or be killed. They wanted to take my bag and my rifle.

They came around me and pointed their guns at me. I started to bandage and when I finished I quickly switched to my rifle and took one of them out before the others shot me.
That was great, haha what a day in DayZ.

Finally found my first firearm, an M4 with 30 rounds. First thing that happens a guy with a baseball bat comes running at me, I turn around and start running but he's still coming at me.

Thanks! Just had an insane encounter in Stary. Was crouched behind a building looking at a map when someone approached from behind, said "Hey buddy!" and start beating me with a crowbar. I jump up bleeding and sprint away. Then I see another guy come running saying "Hey buddy, need any help?!" I run the other way and they're both chasing me. After a while I realise I'm gonna bleed out, so I stop and quickly bandage myself and decide to duke it out with them both. My axe won. I was literally shaking at the end. Serves those two bandit assholes right.
