Xbox One Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

Does the Xbox one upload all of the game clips that it records on its own? For example, the battlefield 4 rank up clips that are automatically recorded. Are those shared to my friends and their activity feeds automatically? Or do I have to go to the upload app and share it from there?

It would suck if it uploaded those automatically I guess I wanna go home tho ain't nuttin to look ally, don't wanna clutter them up with random videos of me running aimlessly

It seems so, at least I can access all my videos even the ones I didn't upload manually from the Smartglass app even if the console is off. Although the ones it uploaded autmatically all have 0 views so I think it may not be showin up somewhere, where the others do.

Yeah, like I said... I'll adapt. And when I do I'm sure i'll feel the same way.

Ryse is awesome. Dead Rising seems like it will be fun but it also feels a bit, for lack of a better word... janky. I felt like I was fighting the camera. The inventory management was a pain (just picking up a dirt covered bagel to eat making me drop my shovel... stuff like that). But the violence is awesome and it's definitely not a bad game. I can see myself getting into it.

Killer Instinct is up next. Then the Zoo Tycoon demo :)

yes, forza is the best ever day 1 game, ryse is awesome for what it is, a fancy double dragon (full marks for that!) but the only thing I dont agree is that dead rising is ..janky.
it isnt. maybe after a couple of hours of playing just that and not jumping between ryse, ki etc will click with you. and the inventory being ..tight, that's one of the points of the game :)

basically ms launched with three beat'em ups of varying flavor (ki dr ryse) and the racer.
sweet selection for my tastes. still playing them :)
zoo tycoon is great for playing with kids.
you want to put max on that que too. and golf most probably

happy holidays to everyone

I have some auto recorded Max videos, that I never uploaded, or saved with some views, so I guess it's indeed uploading. (Which is terrible, because some of those max videos are not my best showing XD)

Has there ever been a test done that shows actual numbers with the HDMI-IN passthrough regarding the added input lag?

So I bought Forza, of course, played 3 races - love it. I can deal with the car count (i usually only end up with a couple hundred in forza/gt games. The low track count will wear on me after 50 or so hours. But I dont need/want to be a downer. On the track the game is FANTASTIC. Really happy with it.

Don´t forget to register at the website to get the free credits.

I'm renting Ryse and Dead Rising 3. I have the 1 character version of killer instinct, xbox fitness, and some other stuff in my download queue. I get crazy good speeds on XBL (tests on psn give me 25 down, test on xbl gives me 55 - on my pc i get 100 down). So the huge updates for these games aren't an issue.

Get Max as well. A true little gem, and as you like platforming.

I kinda feel like the controller is a step back from the 360 controller but it's not like a piece of shit or anything. I'll adapt.

Still feels a tad too small for me too, but its workable.

Kinect voice controls are neat... but i'd say my success rate is about 70% in my first couple hours. Hopefully that goes up as i get better at "kinect voice" and MS updates from their end.

Take the time to recalibrate Kinect. Make sure to crank your system so loud, that the calibration tool complains and asks you to turn it down. Your success rate will get over 90% this way.

Really? That's lower than I expected, thanks :)

Keep in mind that this is on top of your TV and on top of your AV-Receiver (if you run your HDMI out through it to get LPCM sound). In the end 21ms might not sound much but it really can make or break the experience.

No, no I'm aware of that. I'm just in the market for a new TV. And the TV I've got my eyes on has a higher input lag than my current one. So I was wondering if I could replicate it somewhat via the passthrough of the Xbox One and see how it affects me, if it affects me ;)

I hesitated a bit in buying my xbox launch games.

Didn't get DR3 up until a few days ago because im not really a zombie fan, but thought I would give it a shot.

Boy am I glad I did, I haven't been able to put the game down until now as Ive just finished it. What a fantastic game I cant believe how many zombies there are in certain areas.

I did a count and managed to kill 1,000 zombies in a couple of minutes with the roller hawg in a busy intersection area lol. Its so awesome.

The story is great too, kept me interested from start to finish. This was my first dead rising experience but Ill definitely be hanging out for DR4 now.

Best launch game for me by far!! I really don't give a toss if xbox keeps releasing 720p 30fps games, as long as they are as fun as this one!

Likewise. It's the first DR game I've personally played. I watched friends play the first two and it didn't look very enjoyable at all. I'm glad I gave this one a shot. I'm only on chapter 2 because I'm enjoying running around everywhere and getting blueprints and massacring zombies. Y+B kills are disgustingly satisfying.

As for the 720p comment, it won't stop me from buying games but I truly hope they can get up to 900p. Specifically for FPS games. I had BF4 for the ps4 before trading it in to play with all my friends and family on the XB1 version, and it looks considerably worse. Jaggies everywhere and it's extremely hard to spot out an enemy that is in the distance.

For other genres I don't care too much. 720p for DR3 and KI hasn't bothered me one bit.

Just completed Max: Curse of Brotherhood and I had a blast with it. It's a really fun game, looks great and it has an interesting mechanic that doesn't out stay its welcome. Highly recommend it and I look forward to what Press Play do next.

You know that old saying "don't know what you got, till it's gone"?

That is definitely me and my Astro A40's. I hadn't realized how much I relied on them. I game mostly at night when kids/wife are asleep so turning up volume to hear all the nuance is not happening. Wearing two headphones (one for sound one for communication) is also very uncomfortable.

In short, I miss my A40's so MS need to come up with a headphone/mic solution fast and take more of my money. February seems like a long way away.

This times a thousand. I wouldn't be surprised to see MS almost force this on everyone with the next update. Explaining how to best calibrate it. Once you are a notch below too loud it can pick up commands at conversational levels.

They do work with Xbox One. They just don't accept a surround signal, so they can't replicate binaural audio — but it is certainly usable.

Ya what a massive massive improvement. I haven't had a single voice command missed yet since I did it. I also purposefully says the words as I would in conversation versus say each on slowly. I had far worse success when I drew out every one. Now its just "Xbox Load Tori Black video" and boom success!

What about commands during loud gaming sections, watching Netflix, or listening to music? When my TV is already outputting louder than normal volume it has an extremely hard time hearing me over the other sounds. I've calibrated it with my volume as high as it could go, but it hasn't really improved that aspect.

I've got a soundbar on the shelf below my Kinect and the calibration tool doesn't let me crank the volume that high, disappointingly. :/

I have a feeling the noise cancellation tech they demoed is just for games. I was playing Dead Rising 3 earlier today at a pretty loud volume — and this isn't an exaggeration — I could pretty much mumble my commands and it would hear them.

I don't use kinect because I'm having at my desk, is there any way to get other gamer pics besides the default ones?

Store perhaps?

I never thought I'd own an xbox before a ps4 but this is going to be my fighting game machine pretty much. Pc for all multiplats and ps4/xbone for exclusives

Of all the launch-window shortcomings, the lack of headphones is affecting me the most. It's pretty disappointing they didn't have them ready to roll from launch.

Hmm that is an interesting observation. I wonder how well the noise cancellation works in games vs. TV.

I've noticed that too but I never put it together.

True, but the lack of an integrated functional mic makes this less than ideal for MP games, and the lack of positional audio is disappointing in ALL games. I hear you, that there are options, but for me the lack of a dedicated solution to this is disappointing.

What's funny is that I'd easily part with $200 or so for a solution to this problem RIGHT NOW... but no solution is available. Frustrating.

If true my guess would be that it can cancel out any audio thats coming through the XBO, as i'm sure it has software to filter out audio it's already processing and "knows about". Room noise will be harder as its listening and trying to process that out on the fly.

There are plenty of headphone adapters on eBay.

Official solution is coming on Feb. But the modded adapter will do the job just fine.

Ah yeah, absolutely. Other than Kinect, there's not really a decent chat option — and even then, you can't use the MixAmp to filter the audio.

Last I heard about this adapter was 'early 2014' so hopefully not long now!

Turning volume all the way up really does help. Now I can successfully say Xbox Go Home and Xbox Bing among other commands from the first try.

Some commands like Youtube or Internet Explorer never works for me. Either my broken Engrish accent or the damn lisp.

Microsoft just published a big article on Xbox Wire about their 2014 lineup. Weirdly, includes all the big exclusives except Halo.

Has this been delayed or something?

I wouldn't mind a delay if it gives them more time to make a better game. No need to rush since there are already a lot of cool games coming out for 2014.

I would pretty much feel the same (again, if actually true).

I doubt that Halo is delayed. But if a delay ensures that we won't get Halo 4.5 than please be my guest MS/343i and delay it.

Ah, just picked it up from their Twitter. Still, I agree, I don't think I'd mind a delay.
